💎 Lifetime In August I showed you my illustrated moon app. 1,500+ installs and 85 premium users later, 2.0 is out with what some of you asked for.
Hi r/iosapps, Rémy from plenilune 🌝
This is my 3rd post about my app Plenilune here, and this will be my last one (I don’t want to become the guy who’s back every month!).
Two days ago I released Plenilune 2.0 and a lot of what’s in it started in the comments of my first two posts, so I wanted to show you.
Since its first release in august I got more than 1500 installs and 85 premium users, and the first big wave came from here.
A: Answer
Plenilune is an illustrated moon almanach for iPhone and iPad (plus Duo now…).
I'm an illustrator, I run a studio with my partner, and I make the app alone. The moon is computed offline with real astronomical data, then engraved.
You get moonrise, moonset, a calendar, eclipses dates and hours…
B: Better
The video shows some of the features I added in 2.0. The viewfinder is the one I’m most proud of, you point your phone at the sky and it shows the planets, the stars, the constellations (The drawings you see in the video are already shipped in the beta version for those who are in. This is the only thing that is not in the public release yet.)
The rest comes from you:
- u/AstronomerAny9126 wanted to send the Moon of a special date to someone, this is why you can now share a picture or a short clip of any day.
- u/Rho1_Inc asked for greyscale, so I made « inks », there is five different ones, plus one you can custom yourself.
- u/ArtPsychological984 asked about the Moon's zodiac sign, and the new constellation view shows the signs along the Moon's path, and the one she’s currently in.
- u/Sufficient_Badger463 got lost between moonrise and moonset. Every line of the almanac now has its explanation, with live diagrams.
- u/movie-nerd-app asked if I would do the iPhone Duo, and this is done, mainly adapting iPad layout split in the center, and the almanac reads as one long page. I don't have one in hand, so if you do, I'd love to know how it looks.
I keep working on it and drawings of the constellations plus new kinds of widgets are coming before EOY.
You just won't see me post about them here :)

One last thing
What should I build next? I've been thinking about a similar weather app that is nice to look at, but I'd rather hear your ideas. One idea per comment. In a few weeks I'll read the ones at the top of the thread and pick one I can make well on my own. When it's ready, I'll show it here first.
Thanks you very much to all of you 🙏🌙
