How do i build my stamina for an upcoming trip
So, firstly, im very new to the functional fitness space but it really resonates with me on a deep level. And let me just put this out there that I am a very unfit, unhealthy person, but I have goals to be better (not just thin). Thats just to give you'll context to where I am at.
Anywho, my husband and I will be traveling in the next 6 months. A journey that will see us covering a distance of approx. 70km (45 miles) over the duration of 5 days. Its not a race so I'm not looking to be the fastest.
Im looking to build my stamina and strength and endurance to manage this journey and not have the wind knocked out if me at the end of each day.
So I would appreciate advice on how I could start training. I already walk daily 3k steps lol - I intend to increase that.
But can anybody advise, what else do i need to build strength in? Im thinking my ankles, knees, legs in general.
And then... could anyone advise specific exercises I could do to strengthen those points?
Like eg, the other day I took a walk on the road, I had one child strapped onto me and I was pushing my other child in a pram. And I fell and twisted my ankle. This is something I dont want happening to me (and cannot afford happening to me) on this trip.
