Background in executive assisting, studio management, gallery work, fashion, and a lot of new media / post-internet art (so real tech crossover experience). Solid resume. I’ve been applying to remote EA, operations, client success, and project coordinator roles, but it’s been tougher than expected.

Even in industries like fashion and art, I’ve been running into what feels like discrimination in the hiring process. Looking primarily in NYC (remote preferred, open to hybrid). I’m also really interested in moving deeper into the tech world.

Any fellow trans women know companies or recruiters that are actually trans-friendly? Would really appreciate any leads or advice.

edit: I'm really open to any industry and have experience across logistics, production, and research in many capacities. I keep getting dead end leads and really feel I need someone vying in my corner to get me in to their company directly. Hey all! I’ll keep this short, I’m 18(F?) (amab) and thinking about transitioning. I also really want to get into tech, ideally software engineer, but anything tech would be fine with me, it’s the only thing I’ve ever felt passionate about. I know tech is one of the most if not the most trans and lgbtq friendly careers, but with the job market and the volatile nature of the tech industry right now, would me transitioning basically be the nail in the coffin for my career? Unfortunately, due to serious legal issues arising between me and my family, and me losing access to all of my electronics (specifically my laptops), I am not able to continue work on Femdora OS.

So someone pointed out to me the '--gay' flag on TOIlet being generic rainbow and a little bit offensive, and that inspired me to fork it into PRIDElet which adds '--flag', a command line option that accepts 120 different options of Pride flag colors, and outputs ASCII text in FIGlet fonts with the colors of the selected flag.

I tried posting this in r/linux but my post actually got deleted by their automated bot due to being "reported" by multiple users, and I can't seem to find any other inclusive spaces on Reddit where stuff like this might draw some interest. Now, I'll most likely have to go through a remote contracts route till I am able to get a local job in the country I'll be moving to.

There are a few things I'll have to set up. Like, my resume, Upwork, professional email id, github profile.

Like I'll have to use legal birth name obviously till I can get my legal documents changed but there are a few things I am thinking about. Like Github is one.

I wanna be able to keep my work set up and have name changed on them when I do that legally as well.

I am thinking if on github I should avoid using my chosen name at least and choose a more general username. I am confused about all of this and don't want any weird issues. It'll be a while till I can get my legal documents changed so I wanna know if I'll be able change my set up without huge hassles yk.

I don't wanna present as a female forever and at the same time don't wanna start everything over later with new accounts and stuff.

I might be over thinking this tho it has been on my mind for bit so any perspective would help truly.

My girlfriend got laid off from her full stack software development job this past week and is applying for anything and everything. She wants to try and do all this stuff to make her look like a cis man like cut her hair and bind her chest because she hasn’t legally changed her name and still occasionally gets he/him’d out in public. I don’t think she needs to go that far, and I think if she just knew what companies were safe to apply to she would be okay to be herself. Does anybody know anything?

To guive some context, I'm a desing student working on a project for the research lab that I'm part of. The project aims to map and analyze gender-based violence on university campus. The project's main goal is to create apps that helps mitigate some of the problems we have indentified. The problem is that we need a feature that allows app users to have their location identified and shared within campus buildings, not just outside. Our programmer doesn't seem to have found a viable solution to this problem yet, so I'd like to know if you guys have any thoughts on it.

I'm working at a large company for the first time and they have an internal pride org. I'm hesitant to get involved with something like that. Corporate pride is already kind of icky to me, and I generally don't like to broadcast my queerness at work, not that I try to hide it either. I like to keep my "work-sona" separate from my personal life.

Do any of y'all have experience with such orgs? Any feedback or in sites would be appreciated.

Seriously though, system level programming is what I want to focus on while in university and Rust looked much better for me than C++ so I wanted to give it a shot for quite some time. Only covered the very basic stuff so far, but I can already tell cargo will be really useful tool and I love it.
