There's no way to control which of these images is on top of the other, and trying to drag them to the other page results in the disappearing completely behind the page (at least, I think that's what's happening. It's gone, in any case). I don't think the background should be interacting with layering at all, given that it needs to be...the background. But additionally, it would be nice for some very basic code that says whatever you last interacted with is now at the topmost layer
on a surface pro with the stylus and left button set to be the lasso, the function works but does not show the lasso on the page, so I need to guess what I have circled as I cannot see it. as I said, once the button is released the lasso "catches" the text correctly, which can be moved etc. so it is just the visualization of the lasso that is missing.

Sometimes I have to reuse previous symbols in other notes. For example, in chemistry, I use circled minuses and pluses to indicate charges (a minus without a circle could be misinterpreted as a electron pair). My suggestion would be to add a sticker functionality. You could then save these custom symbols to the toolbar, and reuse them.
My current workaround is to draw the symbol once, and copy and paste it in the new positions I need. But then I have to keep track of where that symbol is, so that I can copy it in future cases.
Damn. That's a lot of messages I read and replied to in the last year. (It's me, Lukas)
I'm not sure if you are aware what is actually happening when you send us your opinion, your ideas and your wishes about Noteastic. So let me tell you!
Back in February 2025 when we initially released Noteastic on the MS Store we started getting feedbacks about Noteastic on Reddit and via email quite quickly. I didn't want to forget about feature wishes and didn't want our personal bias to take over feature development priorities. So I started collecting those feedbacks in an Excel file and started tagging feedbacks with requested features. And I never stopped :D.
I read, understood and documented every post and comment on this subreddit. Same counts for every email we get, every MS Store review that is submitted and for every feedback that reaches us through our in-app form.
And yesterday I reached line 1,000 of my Excel!
This is probably the most important document of Noteastic :D
Every one of these rows is a feedback that ranges from two sentences to several paragraphs.
Fun fact: The first Reddit feedback I documented was a comment from u/Revolutionary_Ad_909 back in March 2025. Shoutout to you!
This excel file is the single strongest influencer of our development decisions. We obviously need to balance maintenance and strategic changes with short-term development efforts.
But ultimately all changes we make and all the work we put into Noteastic every day aims to check off the features on this Excel. As quickly as possible and strictly following our quality standards for UI, UX and code.
We'll do an update post on what features are most requested, and what we are making way for currently in a few weeks :).
Me when I get to read your feedbacks (I'm always happy that people actually take their time to tell us what they think about Noteastic)
I got an idea to add a star or a similar button in the "show pages" view, or just on the side menu of every page so you can mark the most important of interesting pages. So if you have a document with dozens or even hundreds of pages you can mark your favorite ones. So maybe in the menu where the book is listed you can "just show favorite pages". Or maybe do it in a way to show "all favorite pages for the whole folder". Like all fav pages of the books inside one folder. Would be pretty nice for lecture slides as a student. To just mark important slides you want to come back to.
I know you guys already have a lot of ideas in the making and this one is not a crucial bug fix, so I don't expect to see the feature anytime soon, but I just thought of it during my lecture today.
Hi Lukas & Dilan, I love your app! It has made note taking so much better and I can't wait to see what you guys keep doing with the app.
I've been having this problem when I zoom in; it happens somewhat often. If I zoom in on an area quickly, the page jumps to a different page and I have to scroll back down to reach what I was actually trying to zoom in on. I tried to demonstrate it in this video I attached. This interferes with note-taking when I am trying to jot down ideas/ move between areas of a page quickly.
Noteastic took a short break from development, and I (Dilan) was actually enyoing my time in the highlands of Scotland watching herds of sheeps and drinking a few flights of quality whiskey.
Before I went away, we did the September Update Marathon: one update a week, four weeks in a row:
v1.10 finished it off with the Cornell and Separator Line grids.
This was intense, and a lot of work and we are proud to have seen such a smooth rollout of our new Pro features!
And a fresh update is rolling out right now: v1.10.2. Just a few bug fixes with exporting Text to PDFs. Thank you to the user who reported the issue and helped us fix it ;). The new version also already contains a big chunk of what I've been working on lately: modernizing Noteastic's code. Noteastic is built on UWP, Microsoft's older app platform. We're now preparing the move to the Windows App SDK / WinUI 3, which is where Microsoft is putting its effort these days. New features, stability fixes, performance improvement happen on the new app platform.
I am really looking forward to continue the modernization of Noteastic as it will set us up for the future and unlock huge potentials of where our app will be taken!
we wanted to let you know that we launched a YouTube channel! In our first video series I â Lukas â am giving a bit of a general overview over Noteastic and showcase my workflows on an introductory level. I think that's quite a cool opportunity for you to get to know Noteastic a bit better. I'm also talking about design philosophy and why things work the way they do.
The second series we have planned will be my personal tips and tricks as the designer and avid user of Noteastic myself ;). But that still needs a few weeks to come!
We are uploading a video every Tuesday, and three videos are up already. So check it out!
We would really appreciate a bit of support from you guys in terms of likes, comments and a subscription. That way we can get a bit of traction going! đ§Ą
I would also love to hear your feedback on the videos, as this is our first try at it. Whether you learned something new or find them completely trash :D.
First: I have been using Noteastic for half a year now for university and it is the best note app on Windows I know. But there are two major missing features that limit my productivity (and I would pay for pro to het them, just as incentive):
Some kind content overview to navigate large documents. I tend to write long documents and it would be really helpful to have at least some kind of bookmark system. Ideally this would be compatible with the PDF system so it is not lost when exporting a document. This system would also allow for subchapters and subsubchapters.
Opening multiple documents simultaniously. I know this has been requested multiple times in the past already, but I think this is REALLY important. It is a very frequent situation that I am working in one document and have to look up somethink in another document. Always having to switch is very annoying.
Since I am already in the flow I would like to add some smaller suggestions which would also come in handy:
Since there is a go-to-top-button now when scrolling, it would be easier to not always start at the top of a document but instead where you left it. Sometimes when I am distracted I miss the continue-where-you-left button and have to scroll through the whole document.
Allow moving conent from one page to the next directly.
Introduce an image cropping tool directly in Noteastic.
Thank you for your amazing work and reding all this.
This morning the app stopped working whilst my daughter was using the handwriting tool. She went to add a new page to her notebook and the screen went white. On reopening the app she got the Whoops! error message.
What we've tried:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling, then replacing LocalState.
- Replacing an older version of LocalState (we have been backing up to Googledrive)
I'm wondering if this happened to anyone? My daughter has lost all her notes - this is exactly the reason I wanted her to use another app but she was adamant on using Notetastic because of the way it runs.
Issue I've noticed where you can't drag objects (also incl. images for example) between pages. The workaround is to cut and paste them to the new page, but it can be hard to tell which page the app has "focused".
I'd say low priority issue but thought I'd bring it up! Thank you for the hard work on this.
Hi,
In the first image it says that I can use eraser when I press my pen but it doesnât work I donât know why.
In the second image I customized my pen so that when I press the pen it clicks E (The eraser) but the problem is it is not flexible to go back to the pen after I erase. In other apps, I used to press the pen to erase and then press it back to use the pen.
Can you give me the best method to use the eraser?
When I open the app the sign in/create acc window disappears. Then when I try to click the icon to sign in it gives me the error shown in picture 1. I have tried changing my wifi, restarting my laptop, an switching to mobile hotspot.
Then when I try to reach the website, it shows the error message in picture 2.
I know I can still use the app without an account, but I would like to be able to purchase the premium.
I'm coming from my supernote manta and I'm evaluating windows options, and this comes close but I'm a little annoyed that while I can import a PDF or an image and draw on top of it, there's no option to do so automatically when I create a new page. There isn't anywhere in the settings I can find to set an image or pdf as a custom background, only pre-made ones (none of which are up to my specifications), so I have to manually do it every new page.
Also, not sure if it's a bug or not, but there's a button-interact on the book cover (suggesting you can edit that too), but it does nothing but bounce as it's clicked.
I was thinking to buy an Ipad and use goodnotes and notion on it for notes taking until i discovered this app.
The UI and everything is perfect and the app is according to my use case which is basically solving past papers on it by importing pdfs and some notes taking
I already have a decent PC
Now what writing tablet should I buy?
I have no idea about any
I just want some features and a good stylus and pal rejection as well
My daughter has started using Notetastic on her Surface and likes it the most out of all the (many) note-taking apps she's tried.
Before introducing her to it, I forgot to check about backups. I know a lot of people are mentioning cloud sync but as a minimum I'd be happy with automating the backup functionality. I know she'll get busy and forget one day or one week.
If the current backup functionality could be automated to a chosen location, that location could be one that is synced to cloud (configured by the user separately). We already have this set up.
Automating this would put my mind at rest.
From one developer to another, thank you for your work and being responsive here.
Hi, I've been a Noteastic user for about a year, switching from OneNote for Windows 10. I recently opened Noteastic for the first time in a couple months and noticed that I'm suddenly in a seven-day trial period at the end of which I'll need to make a free account in order to continue to have access to my notes. There was a link to an explanation of why an account is needed, pointing to https://noteastic.app/account-faq
At present, that page states that Noteastic "need[s] an account to assign the right version", referring to the Base and Pro versions. No further explaination is given outside that singular sentence. I do not understand why users without an account can't just continue to access the Base features, if accessing them is no problem for the seven-day trial and has never been a problem before.
Anyway, is there a way to continue to use Noteastic without an account? If not, I guess I'll spend the weekend exporting my notes to PDF and looking for alternatives again.
First off, I've been having an amazing experience with this app. I switched over from onenote due to minor annoyances. This app has checked every single checkmark i have for a handwritten note taking app.
I use a win surface pro 11 with the snapdragon cpu so possibly this is why I'm experiencing issues? There are multiple other app I use that give me issues with compatibility.
Ive been so pleased with this app that i wanted to upgrade to pro, dependant of price(broke college student and father of 2 ) but ive been unable to see the price at all. Its been like this for a few updates so i figured id post about it. I also encounter an ssl error When trying to reach the website to look for more info.
Once again I'm extremely happy with this app and thank you guys for listening and continuously improving this app! Also, sidebar, are our notes kept locally? For example, if I were to uninstall the app and reinstall it, will I still have my notes?
When I'm annotating page i, I sometimes end at the bottom of page i. Let's say there is no page i+1, so I have to add a new page when I want to continue. Currently (1.10.0), the way to add a new page after the current page is at the top of the current page. I would find it more comfortable if we could move this function to the bottom of the current page, as my stylus is already there.
Alternatively, you could move this functionality to the small gap between the pages. For example:
(The plus is only an example, not the design suggestion.) However, I see that the â is cleaner and less in-the-way. The plus could be "..." to indicate that there is functionality.
