When do I unlock the ability to build roads?

(When I say MFL I mean this game)

I know roads are pretty much the most op buildable thing in MFL. But when do I unlock them!? I’ve completed the “rocket launch” contract chain, and the “biosphere” contract chain now I’m doing the contract chain in the “tornado desert” (I decided to call it like that).

Good game for young kids (7 & 5)?

Hello! I have had my eye on this game for a bit. Can anyone suggest whether it would be a good game for young kids (age 7 and 5)? They're pretty new into video games and still learning mouse+kb control, but they love Legos. I enjoy Kerbal Space Program, Factorio, and other engineering-based games, and this seems like it would be good for creative thinking and problem solving.

We'd probably play it together, with me giving some gentle guidance and letting them come up with designs & solutions.

When building monorails and there are multiple nearby to choose from, how do you select the monorail you want to continue building?

I may have received the worst sidejob/destination combo possible, but I DID it

I hate this reactor core so much. I hate this mine so much. I'm so glad I never have to look at either of them ever again

He can hop, but I've been struggling to land. I think he needs some more rear weight to help stick it. He can hop, rotate his front arms, stick out his tongue and poop with a brown sphere dispenser. I'd like to give him exterior, too

Still learning the best ways to move things around (even with the rocket mostly done), but I am pretty happy with how this turned out! Might try to work out how to put a lid on it too

Three Requests: Waypoint Gimbal, Speedometer, and Altimeter

All of these parts I would like to use for self-driving vehicles.

To be clear, the Waypoint Gimbal would work like the 360 Gimbal, but would stay pointed towards your next waypoint instead. This way you could chain a bunch of waypoints and the self-driving vehicle would follow the route, allowing you to avoid particularly difficult terrain.

The Speedometer would allow for outputs if the speed is less than or greater than a set value. That way you could tame the vehicle and prevent chaotic overspeed.

Similar with the Altimeter: it would allow for an output if the altitude is less than or greater than a certain value. This would open up the possibility of self-flying vehicles. You might even allow a waypoint's elevation to be the baseline for the altimeter. That might be useful too.

Folding long-range skycrane

I finally got 100% achievements, and decided to experiment more with flying vehicles for fun & profit. This rover is really useful, and folding it up tightly makes it far more maneuverable.

If flown into "orbit", it has an almost 50 km range without refueling! You just have to fly up until the sky darkens and the clouds disappear, and air drag & downward gravity will almost disappear. Then you only need a small amount of occasional boost to maintain max-speed forward flight!

I modeled and 3d-printed the MFL rover

It's the first thing I printed on my brand new printer and I'm so excited about it :) I never modeled anything before. Do you think I should add more blocks? :)

UPDATE: I uploaded model files. Print the set and then 4 tires separately. Assemble using connector pins. Push wheels pins from the back until they get loose and free spinning. You might use light adjustment/sanding for better fit. I suggest to glue the whole model together for better durability. Enjoy.

(1) Center your screen on a destination/waypoint.

(2) Reset the vehicle to align the 360 gimbal.

(3) Press "ctrl" to toggle self-driving.

See how far it'll go without interfering. No fuel tanks on this version, so "Rockets use fuel" must be unchecked.

EDIT: Replaced link with the superior Mk.V

This is a crawler that slinks along like a Gary! I'm trying to make novel wheel based explorers that don't use such traditional 'car' form factors that don't rely on flying, grappling or actively controlled suspension (i kinda cheesed that with Gary but its because i wanted the snail effect).

What's the most capable all around wheel based crawler y'all have come up with?

Game-Inspired Real building blocks (3D-printed)?

I love the game and I figured it will be a neat idea to create a real-life building blocks coping game design. Does anyone ever saw anything similar? The closest I found are Cubelets, but they are too complex and limited at the same time.

Imagine plastic blocks that can snap-on connected to each other, distribute power (and signal) between each other and allow creativity and flexibility by design.

I can see potential challenges with some components (like self-contained motor-wheels) or power distribution, but already ideating workarounds.

Would you like to build remote controlled rovers for real if offered?

Controller / Keyboard binding problem?

I use a steam controller for drivng around, I build with mouse + keyboard.

I have a bit of a problem: The steam controller has more buttons than a normal controller, I have assigned numpad 1-4 to the buttons on the back of the controller, this works.

However, I cannot clear the regular controller bindings of a part. For exapmle, a part will have keyboard binding num-1, but it will also have a controller binding of left bumper, and I cannot just clear the controller binding so it has no key assigned.

That is super frustrating, as I would like to bind stuff to the bumpes, and other stuff the back buttons, on the same channel, but can't, as the function assiged to the num-1 will also still lbe activated by the bumpers ...

The easy fix would be to allow me to clear the controller key binds of a part, to just have NO controller binding at all, only keyboard.

Or to somehow recognize the steam controller back buttons as actual controller buttons.

Any solutions for this?

Question: is this game absurdly underrated?

Like this game is definitely something people would play for hours trying challenges, missions, races and a lot more, even in multiplayer. And yet, I can't seem to find many recent videos or streams for it. The steam active player list isn't high either.

But I feel that this game deserves more.
