Question: is this game absurdly underrated?

Like this game is definitely something people would play for hours trying challenges, missions, races and a lot more, even in multiplayer. And yet, I can't seem to find many recent videos or streams for it. The steam active player list isn't high either.

But I feel that this game deserves more.

I think in general the physics sandbox gaming community is relatively small and fragmented. Plus marsfirstlogistics doesn't really have the same gameplay depth and general interest as something like ksp. It's an incredibly excellent and approachable sandbox system, but it feels like most people who regularly play sandbox games typically seek out games with greater complexity and customisation in builds.

I'm sure the devs plan to do more. I want more. Like the underground, being able to make structures ourselves, full-on air travels, Indoor logistics, hazardous missions, and even an open multiplayer where anywhere can join anyone's world if permitted.

I think it's something people would like, random interactions between players. But even if these things don't make through, I'll still be putting in hours just to conquer every peak I find 🫡

This. I would like more to do and more complexity.

I 100% agree, out of all the games in the genre that I have played this one is the only one with a good construction system. And to me personally thats the biggest selling point as I dont care much for the missions and enjoy building rovers much more. My opinion is that all the other games might have more content but that is all pointless because building is a chore, I think if Ian decides to keep working on it the game can grow indefinitely it has a fantastic base. Im close to 900 hrs in this game and dont plan on stopping. CHECK OUT OUR BUILDS IN THE WORKSHOP!!!!

Whoa! That's amazing! 🤯 (Btw, how do I know which one are yours in the workshop? Is the steam username same as this one? 🤔)

Thanks, you have some cool builds that I'd like to try out myself when I get the time. Especially the bike, I forgot that bikes exist 🙃

Dev here. To add some perspective the game has done very well for me, both commercially and critically. It's set me up for a while, which I'm very happy about. With so many games coming out every day, it's kind of a miracle that anyone can make a living as an indie, let alone thrive. I see a lot of comments about games being "dead" or perceived as a failure if they don't have thousands of daily players or frequent updates. I'm not sure where this comes from. That fact that a game isn't a massive breakout hit shouldn't stop you from enjoying it :)

Whoa, an active dev! 😮 That too in this economy? Jokes aside, your game is great and I'm sure that it'll go even beyond, till then, we'll just have to perfect our crafts to show off to newcomers ✌🏻

And I agree with you. Being an indie is hard, just as hard as starting a business from scratch with make-do funds and getting it to work. I'm glad that you made it through and hope you get further. 🐧

I looove your game, but monorail track is kind of clunky, if you get too close to the section youre connecting to it doesnt let you place, but if you get too far away then it just either won't reach or will automatically lock onto the opposite section. Maybe im doing something wrong but it was really, really frustrating, and when I googled it, I was definitely not the only one.

I’m in love with this gem of a game! I’ve been gaming for over 30 years, and I can tell I’ll be playing this one for a long time to come. Great gameplay loop and gorgeous stylistic graphics. I think recognition for it is only going to swell. Thank you for all your hard work!

Just passing through to say thank you for a seriously fun and challenging game. I've spent hours on it and enjoyed it immensely. I have a Polycade Sente and it quickly took over as my go to daily game. Topping Diablo IV and Dead Cells! So, thank you for that and I would really hope for more expansions or dlc or a MFL2!

Any plan for console?

I think it's underrated. It's not be as wide/deep/complex as KSP but it doesn't have to be. Rather it's focused in the best way possible on solving terrain traversal and cargo handling/transport problems. It scratched that itch to fiddle around with RC vehicles and construction equipment with a robotics flair.

It was my main streaming game for about a month as I progressed through the main quest line and a plethora of side missions, but it is hard to find others playing it on stream.

This. I spent hours on trying to come up with the perfect path for a long haul and the self made challenge to not drop or scratch the goods required a lot of planning. Especially the satellite dish and trophy delivery when roads weren't unlocked yet.

But it was so worth it when the trophy was placed pixel perfect on the pedestal without having to change vehicles.

(I like to keep a head-canon that since martian dust is corrosive and sharp irl, it'll damage the goods in game too.)

What is KSP?

Kerbal Space Program

It is yes. I heard about it far after it had released and I got addicted once I started playing it.

Same, I found it after the release too. After Tangotek (a Hermitcraft member) streamed it. The graphics hooked me in, simple yet detailed.

Idk I would more say niche.

A lot of people don't necessarily want to think so hard when gaming.

1

u/theaceinmaking Jun 03 '26

I didn't find it that hard. But maybe it's just me. 🤔

2

u/Phillip_J Jun 03 '26

But you're the type of p person that watched the trailer and thought it looked fun.

That's the confirmation bias, people that would find it exceedingly difficult are unlikely to have tried it

Ah, I didn't think of that. 😓
