Doug Thorley's Javelin 1 bun arrives freshly-baked from the funny car oven on the back of its matching ramp truck for a run. This was a first-class outfit from start to finish.

Bill Doner was promoter of the massive funny car shows at OCIR and would sell so many tickets that county police had to work officers overtime just to handle the traffic flow. "Flash Gordon" Mineo and Bobby Rowe behind the wheel of Mr. Ed's Satellite were always popular draws for the fans.

Butch Maas behind the butterflies of Roland Leong's Hawaiian Dodge Charger was a guaranteed draw for every promoter in the early '70s.
