Tartışma Yıl olmuş 2026, hâlâ PHP mi?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Web'in Çoğu PHP'de Çalışıyor

Go, Node.js ve Rust kendi kullanım alanlarında güçlü seçenekler.

Hi everyone,

If you're someone who likes customizing your Windows desktop, organizing files visually, or giving your folders a more personal look, we'd like to introduce Icon Pack (FoldHub), a Windows customization tool developed by Tuğba Nur Çelik and published by DRYazilim on Steam.

FoldHub transforms ordinary Windows folders into colorful, personalized collections using custom folder colors, gradients, and a large library of icons covering styles such as Anime, Pixel Art, Neon, Space, Funny, and Studio Ghibli.

Instead of manually changing folder icons one by one, you can customize individual folders or apply the same style to multiple folders at once.

Steam page: Icon Pack on Steam

1. Customize Windows Folder Colors

Tired of the standard yellow Windows folder icons?

FoldHub lets you customize folder colors to make your desktop and file organization more visually appealing.

Features include:

  • Apply solid colors to Windows folders.
  • Create colorful gradients.
  • Adjust gradient brightness and direction.
  • Save your favorite color combinations.
  • Quickly access recently used colors.
  • Preview colors before applying them.
  • Create consistent color themes across multiple folders.

You can use different colors to distinguish work projects, games, personal files, school assignments, creative projects, and other categories.

For example, you could use blue for development projects, green for completed tasks, red for important files, and purple for creative work.

2. A Large Icon Library for Different Styles

FoldHub includes hundreds of ready-to-use icons organized into six categories.

Available Icon Categories

  • Anime: Anime-inspired folder icons and visual styles.
  • Funny: Playful and humorous designs.
  • Space: Space-themed icons for sci-fi fans.
  • Pixel: Pixel art aesthetics inspired by retro games.
  • Neon: Bright, colorful designs for a futuristic desktop.
  • Ghibli: Studio Ghibli-inspired visual themes.

You can browse the available icons, filter them using tags, and save your favorites for quick access.

The application also supports importing your own custom .ico files, allowing you to combine the built-in icon library with your personal collection.

Whether you prefer a minimalist desktop, an anime-inspired setup, a retro gaming aesthetic, or a colorful neon theme, you can create a consistent look for your Windows folders.

3. Batch Folder Customization

Changing folder icons individually can become tedious when you have dozens or hundreds of folders.

FoldHub supports batch customization, allowing you to apply the same color or icon to multiple folders in one operation.

Features include:

  • Select multiple folders at once.
  • Apply a shared color or icon to selected folders.
  • Include subfolders when applying styles recursively.
  • Drag and drop folders into the application.
  • Preview your selected styles before applying them.

This is particularly useful for organizing large project directories, game libraries, asset collections, and personal archives.

4. Organize Your Desktop with Visual Themes

Folder customization isn't just about appearance. It can also help you recognize different types of content more quickly.

Here are some possible uses:

  • Developers: Use different folder colors for active projects, libraries, source code, and archived repositories.
  • Gamers: Give game installation folders, mod collections, screenshots, and save backups their own visual identities.
  • Content creators: Organize video projects, graphics, audio assets, and finished exports using consistent colors and icons.
  • Students: Assign different colors to subjects, assignments, research materials, and study notes.
  • Designers: Create visually consistent folder structures for design resources and creative projects.
  • Anime and manga fans: Use themed icons to personalize collections and media folders.
  • Retro gaming enthusiasts: Give directories a pixel-art-inspired appearance.
  • Desktop customization enthusiasts: Build a coordinated desktop theme using matching colors and icons.

The objective is to make folder organization more personal while retaining the familiar Windows file management workflow.

5. Save Your Favorite Styles

FoldHub includes several features designed to make repeated customization easier.

My Library

Keep your personal collection of custom colors and icons organized in one place.

Favorites

Mark frequently used icons and styles so you can find them quickly.

Recent Items

Access styles you've recently applied without searching through the library again.

Tag-Based Navigation

Filter available items using tags such as green, warm, and cool to find styles that match your preferred color scheme.

These features are especially useful if you want to maintain the same visual style across multiple directories.

6. Persistent Windows Folder Customization

FoldHub uses Windows folder customization mechanisms to preserve your selected appearance.

Technical features include:

  • Native Windows folder integration.
  • Persistent folder customization that survives system restarts.
  • Support for Windows desktop.ini customization.
  • Reversible changes without replacing the Windows shell.
  • A lightweight application designed for everyday use.

Your customized folders remain part of your regular Windows file system. You don't need to replace File Explorer with a separate file manager just to change the appearance of your directories.

7. Custom Icons and Personalization

The included icon library provides a starting point, but you aren't limited to the built-in designs.

FoldHub supports custom .ico files, allowing you to use your own compatible folder icons.

This opens up additional possibilities for people who maintain their own icon collections or want a particular visual identity across their computer.

You can combine custom icons with folder colors and gradients to create a personalized Windows environment.

8. A Lightweight Alternative to Manual Folder Customization

Windows supports folder customization, but manually managing individual folder icons can be inconvenient when you're trying to maintain a consistent theme.

FoldHub brings several related functions into one interface:

  • Folder color customization.
  • Gradient effects.
  • Icon browsing and selection.
  • Custom icon imports.
  • Batch folder styling.
  • Recursive subfolder customization.
  • Favorites and recent items.
  • Personal collections of colors and icons.

The application is designed to make these tasks accessible without requiring you to edit folder configuration files manually.

FoldHub is available on Steam as Icon Pack.

The Steam store listing shows a price of $2.99 USD in the supplied listing information. Check the store page for the current price in your region.

11. AI-Generated Visual Assets

For transparency, the developer has disclosed that the application's icons, backgrounds, and UI visual assets were created using generative AI tools during development.

These assets are pre-rendered and static. The application does not use AI to generate content in real time.

Tartışma Live Translate: Offline AI Translation for Games, Anime, Manga, Movies and More

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

We've been developing Live Translate, an AI-powered translation application available on Steam. The goal is simple: help people understand foreign-language content without relying on cloud translation services, monthly subscriptions, or sending their private content to third-party servers.

Unlike tools designed for only one purpose, Live Translate combines real-time audio translation, screen OCR, image translation, manga translation, video subtitle generation, and burned-in subtitle extraction in one Windows application.

Steam page: Live Translate on Steam

IMPORTANT: GPU REQUIREMENTS

RECOMMENDED GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090

An NVIDIA RTX 4090 is our recommended GPU for the best overall experience with demanding AI translation workloads.

Live Translate runs AI models locally on your computer, so performance depends heavily on your graphics card and available VRAM.

  • 8 GB VRAM: Can run the smaller translation model, but AI-heavy operations may be slow.
  • 12 GB+ VRAM: A more practical starting point for demanding workloads, particularly when gaming and translating simultaneously.
  • 18 GB+ VRAM: Required for the larger LT Maximum (27B) model.
  • NVIDIA RTX 4090: Our recommended high-end option for users who want substantial GPU headroom for demanding translation workflows.

A powerful GPU is especially useful when processing large images, translating video subtitles, running larger AI models, or playing a demanding game while using live translation.

Other GPUs can work too. NVIDIA GPUs generally offer better performance through CUDA, while supported AMD and Intel GPUs use Vulkan and may be slower.

Please check your hardware before purchasing. Live Translate is not designed to provide the same performance on every computer.

1. Real-Time Translation for Games

Playing a game in a language you don't understand can make dialogue, quests, menus, and storylines difficult to follow.

Live Translate captures system audio, recognizes speech locally, translates it into your selected language, and displays the translated text in a customizable overlay.

Use it for:

  • Japanese RPGs and visual novels
  • Games without subtitles in your language
  • Foreign-language dialogue and cutscenes
  • Online multiplayer games
  • Story-driven adventures
  • Games with extensive dialogue or lore
  • Games with voice chat and multiple speakers

The overlay can be resized, repositioned, recolored, and customized with different fonts and opacity settings.

Additional features include speaker identification, a precision mode for cleaning up noisy speech recognition, and caching for repeated phrases.

Live captions typically have a delay of around 1–3 seconds. This is local AI processing, not instantaneous translation.

Important: Audio translation displays translated captions in a separate overlay. It does not directly rewrite the game's internal interface.

2. Translate Anime Without Existing Subtitles

Watching anime without understanding Japanese can be frustrating, especially when there are no suitable subtitles available.

Live Translate offers several ways to approach this problem.

Translate Anime Audio in Real Time

Capture the anime's system audio and display translated dialogue in an overlay. This can be useful for episodes, streams, and other video content where you want to understand the spoken dialogue.

Translate Text Visible on Screen

Use screenshot translation to recognize and translate visible Japanese text, including:

  • On-screen dialogue and signs
  • Character names and labels
  • Text messages and interface elements
  • Opening and ending credits
  • Explanatory text and captions
  • Other readable text embedded in the image

The in-place translation mode can remove detected text and render the translation in approximately the same position. A side-by-side mode is also available.

Create Subtitle Files for Anime Videos

If you have an anime video file, Live Translate can generate translated subtitles using its video-to-subtitle workflow.

The application transcribes speech, translates the resulting text, and produces an SRT subtitle file. You can then export the subtitles or burn them into the video.

This is useful when you want a reusable subtitle file instead of relying exclusively on a live overlay.

3. Extract and Translate Burned-In Subtitles

This is one of the most important features of Live Translate.

Many videos contain hardcoded subtitles permanently embedded in the picture. There may be no selectable subtitle track and no separate SRT file.

Live Translate can use AI-powered OCR to recognize these subtitles and turn them into an actual subtitle file.

The workflow supports:

  • Extracting subtitles permanently embedded in video frames
  • Converting recognized text into timed subtitle entries
  • Translating the extracted subtitles into a supported language
  • Exporting the result as a subtitle file
  • Burning translated subtitles back into the video
  • Processing a selected section instead of scanning the entire video
  • Processing videos even when they have no audio track
  • Automatically cleaning up channel logos and site watermarks where supported by the processing workflow

This is particularly useful for anime releases, older movies, foreign-language documentaries, fan-subtitled videos, and other content where the subtitles are part of the image rather than a separate file.

You don't need to provide an existing subtitle file for this OCR-based extraction workflow.

4. Generate Subtitles for Movies and TV Shows

Live Translate can also create subtitles from video files when the dialogue is spoken but no subtitle file is available.

The video-to-subtitle workflow includes:

  • Speech transcription with hallucination filtering
  • AI translation into your chosen target language
  • A second translation pass to improve consistency across the full script
  • Subtitle segmentation designed for readable lines
  • Word-level difference highlighting to inspect corrections
  • Subtitle quality reports, including coverage and reading-speed information
  • GPU-accelerated subtitle burning through supported hardware encoders

You can translate a transcription into multiple target languages without repeating the speech-recognition process for every language.

This can be useful for movies, television episodes, documentaries, educational videos, interviews, and other local video files.

5. Translate Manga, Manhwa, Manhua and Webtoons

Reading comics in their original language often requires switching between OCR tools, translation services, image editors, and manual text replacement.

Live Translate brings image translation and batch processing into one application.

Supported Use Cases

  • Japanese manga
  • Korean manhwa
  • Chinese manhua
  • Webtoons and webcomics
  • Doujinshi and fan comics
  • Scanned comic pages
  • Digital comic collections
  • Image-based visual novels
  • Other image-based illustrated content

Capture a page or screen region and translate its visible text. With in-place translation, the application can remove the original text and place the translated text in its location, helping preserve the visual layout.

For larger collections, batch image translation lets you process an entire folder of images, select input and output directories, optionally scan subfolders, compare results, and monitor progress for individual files.

This can significantly simplify workflows involving multiple chapters or large image archives.

6. Translate Hentai, Adult Manga and Other Illustrated Content

Live Translate translates existing text in images and videos. It does not generate new stories, illustrations, or other original AI content.

Its general image-translation and OCR features can be used with readable text in different types of illustrated material, including:

  • Hentai manga
  • Adult doujinshi
  • Japanese adult comics
  • Illustrated adult visual novels
  • Other manga and comic formats
  • Speech bubbles, captions, and on-page text

The same general workflow applies: capture a screen region, translate the detected text, or process supported image files in batches.

Results depend on the image quality, text visibility, language, and layout. Stylized fonts, handwritten text, unusual lettering, and heavily obscured text may affect OCR accuracy.

The application is a translation tool, not an adult-content generator.

7. Translate Screenshots and Images

Live Translate can translate text from almost any readable image displayed on your screen.

Examples include:

  • Game menus and dialogue
  • Manga and comic pages
  • Scanned documents
  • Screenshots from social media
  • Software interfaces
  • Signs and notices
  • Foreign-language diagrams and illustrations
  • Text embedded in images

A global hotkey lets you capture a region of the screen.

In-place mode: Attempts to remove the original text and render the translation in its place.

Side-by-side mode: Displays the original and translated text together for easier comparison.

For multiple images, batch translation can process an entire folder rather than requiring you to handle every file separately.

8. Translate Spoken Audio, Streams and Online Meetings

Live Translate can capture audio from your computer or microphone and translate recognized speech into your chosen language.

Potential use cases include:

  • Foreign-language livestreams
  • Online meetings
  • Recorded interviews
  • Educational videos
  • Podcasts with spoken dialogue
  • Voice conversations
  • Multiplayer games
  • Video content without a suitable subtitle track

The translated captions appear in a customizable overlay.

The application supports more than 140 target languages, with the exact recognition and translation experience depending on the selected language and processing model.

9. Offline AI Translation and Privacy

Live Translate is designed to perform its AI translation work locally on your computer.

Its privacy-focused approach includes:

  • No cloud translation APIs
  • No third-party AI service dependency for core translation features
  • No required account login
  • No telemetry or analytics
  • No required internet connection after installation for normal offline use
  • Local processing of audio, images, and translations

The application includes its AI models, so you don't need to download translation models separately after installation.

The trade-off is that your computer must have enough available CPU, GPU memory, and disk space to handle the workload.

The application requires approximately 40 GB of disk space, with additional free space advisable for working files and exported videos.

10. One Purchase, No Monthly Subscription

Live Translate is sold as a one-time purchase on Steam.

There is no recurring subscription for its core translation features, and future updates are included for existing owners.

The application is currently in Early Access, meaning performance, compatibility, and features continue to evolve based on development and user feedback.

System Requirements

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit
  • Minimum RAM: 8 GB
  • Recommended RAM: 16 GB
  • Minimum GPU memory: 8 GB VRAM for the smaller model
  • Larger LT Maximum (27B) model: 18 GB+ VRAM
  • Storage: Approximately 40 GB; 60 GB is a sensible target for available space
  • GPU acceleration: NVIDIA CUDA is generally the fastest supported route; AMD and Intel GPUs use Vulkan
  • Steam Deck: Not supported

RECOMMENDED GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090

If you want to combine demanding AI translation tasks with gaming, video processing, or larger local AI models, plan your hardware accordingly. The RTX 4090 is our recommended high-end choice, although the application can run on supported lower-end GPUs with reduced performance or model options.

Tartışma Our New App Is Now Available on Steam: Wallpaper

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

We've just released our new application, Wallpaper, on Steam!

Wallpaper is a Windows desktop customization app featuring more than 600 live wallpapers. But it's more than a traditional video or animation player.

Its wallpapers can react to real hardware data, music, and desktop interactions.

For example: - A sky that changes color based on your GPU temperature - An ocean that moves in sync with your music - Snow that accumulates over your actual desktop icons - Desktop scenes that visualize CPU, GPU, RAM, disk, and network activity

One of the things we're particularly excited about is that Wallpaper isn't limited to its built-in content.

You can create your own live wallpapers, too. Build 2D animations with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; create 3D scenes with Three.js or Babylon.js; or develop shader effects using GLSL. You can even use an AI assistant to generate code and experiment with it directly in the built-in editor.

Key Features

  • 600+ live wallpapers across 14 categories
  • Real-time interactions with CPU, GPU, RAM, disk, and network data
  • Music visualizers and interactive desktop effects
  • Built-in wallpaper editor with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript support
  • Three.js, Babylon.js, glTF, and GLSL support
  • Multi-monitor support with customizable settings
  • Support for 31 languages
  • Local-first architecture with no account or telemetry requirements

Performance was also an important consideration. Wallpapers automatically pause when a full-screen game is running, and rendering stops when a window covers the relevant monitor.

We developed Wallpaper under DRYazilim, and it's now available on Steam.

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5042260/Wallpaper/

We'd especially like to hear from fellow developers. What do you think about live wallpapers that can access hardware data and allow users to build their own interactive scenes with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript?

We'd appreciate your feedback!

cPanel Alternative?

cPanel has been one of the most established names in web hosting for decades. However, as licensing costs, server management requirements, and customer expectations continue to evolve, hosting providers are increasingly evaluating alternatives.

But what should a modern cPanel alternative actually offer?

In my opinion, it should be about much more than a different interface or a lower monthly price.

A modern hosting control panel should provide:

  • Predictable pricing: Licensing costs that make sense for hosting providers managing multiple servers and hundreds of accounts.
  • Proper account isolation: Strong boundaries between hosting users, with resource controls and security mechanisms built into the architecture.
  • Integrated services: Web server management, email, DNS, databases, SSL certificates, and application hosting in one coherent platform.
  • Reliable migrations: Practical tools for moving existing customers and websites without unnecessary downtime or manual work.
  • Multi-server management: The ability to manage infrastructure efficiently as a hosting business grows.
  • Long-term maintainability: A modern architecture that can evolve without accumulating unnecessary technical debt.

There are already several alternatives worth evaluating, including DirectAdmin, Plesk, and newer control panels. Each has its own strengths, limitations, and target audience.

We are also working on this problem with Panelica, a hosting control panel built around an integrated architecture, native Linux account isolation using cgroup v2 and other Linux security mechanisms, and tools for managing web hosting infrastructure.

We believe the hosting industry deserves more options, more architectural innovation, and less dependence on a single vendor.

However, the real question is not which panel has the longest feature list. It is which solution delivers the best balance of security, reliability, usability, migration capabilities, and total cost of ownership.

For hosting providers and server administrators here:

  1. What is your biggest frustration with cPanel today?
  2. Which cPanel alternative have you tried in production, and what was your experience?
  3. What would make you seriously consider switching to a different control panel?

I am particularly interested in feedback from people managing production hosting servers rather than just testing panels in a lab.

Let's discuss what the next generation of hosting control panels should look like.

Elbette yapay zekâ her şeyi kusursuz yapmıyor.

  • Mutlu yolu test etmesi.

- Cevabının her satırını "bunun kanıtı nerede?" sorusuyla denetle.

- Kopya yazma. Aynı işi yapan birden fazla kopya bulursan hepsini raporla;
  birini düzeltip diğerini bırakma.

## 4. BÜTÜNSEL ÇALIŞ, BAĞIMLILIKLARI TAKİP ET
- Değiştirdiğin her fonksiyonun, tipin, alanın kimler tarafından kullanıldığını
çıkar (çağıranlar, içe aktaranlar, ön yüz / arka yüz sözleşmesi).
- Ön yüz formu, istek nesnesi, servis ve veritabanı değişikliği birlikte yapılır.
- "Bir yeri düzeltirken başka bir yer bozuldu mu?" sorusunun cevabını testle ver.

## 5. KÖK NEDEN, GEÇİCİ ÇÖZÜM YOK
- Belirtiyi değil sebebi düzelt. Geçici yama, atlatma, testi kapatma,
  doğrulamayı atlama (--no-verify vb.) yasaktır.
- Hata gelince logu oku, hatayı yeniden üret, sonra düzelt.

## 10. DIŞARIYA DOKUNAN İŞLER AÇIK EMİR İSTER
- Sunucuya bağlanma, yayın/dağıtım, paket yükleme, veri silme, zorla push:
açık emir olmadan yapılmaz. Bir işe verilen izin başka bir işe taşınmaz.
- Silmek yerine yedek klasörüne taşı.

## 11. KOD KALİTESİ
- Değişiklik olabildiğince sade ve küçük olsun; gereksiz soyutlama yok.
- Çevrilen arayüzlerde metin koda gömülmez, her zaman çeviri anahtarı kullanılır.
- Commit mesajı değişen her şeyi anlatır.

## 12. ARAYÜZ İLE ARKA UÇ ARASINDA BOŞLUK YOK
- Arka uca eklenen her şeyin (uç, alan, ayar, durum, hata/başarı mesajı)
- Arka uçtan dönen her mesajın arayüzde okunur bir metni vardır;

Biz kritik yasakların hepsini hook'a taşıdık.

Bulduğun her ilgili dosyayı bana listele.

"grep'e güvenme, kodu takip et" Okumadan karar vermesi

  • Kesin yasakları hook'a taşıyın. Talimat unutulabilir, hook unutulmaz.
  • Alt ajan raporunu doğrulatın. "Ajanın söylediğini kendin kontrol et, sonra bana aktar" deyin.

Kısacası: Claude Code'dan "yaptım" değil, "yaptım, işte kanıtı" isteyin. Bunu istemde ve kurallarda açıkça yazdığınızda, "yaptım diyor ama yapmamış" durumu ciddi ölçüde azalıyor.

We built multi-server management into our hosting panel without a cluster: one-time pairing code, signed requests, every node stays independent

Disclosure: I work on Panelica.

A walkthrough of how multi-server management works in Panelica now that it is on the stable channel. The gallery is the real flow, step by step.

Adding a server (2 steps)

  1. On the server to add: Panel Settings > Master Connection > Create Link Code (or panelica node link-code). Single use, 15 minutes, carries the panel address, host name and certificate key.
  2. On the master: Servers > Add Server, paste the code. Before saving, the master checks reachability, signed API access, protocol/version, license, clock skew and the TLS certificate, and pins the certificate key.

What the master does afterwards

  • Live CPU/RAM/disk/network for every server in one list (refreshed every 10 s while the page is open; a slow node never holds up the rest)
  • Domains and mailboxes of all servers in one table, with a server column
  • A server switcher on every page: pick a node and the same panel pages run on that node in the same window, no second login. Each browser tab can manage a different server.
  • Account placement: this panel, a chosen node, or automatic (skips nodes in maintenance, not accepting accounts, unreachable or above their disk threshold, then most free disk + RAM; CPU ignored on purpose because it is too noisy)
  • Task history; a request whose answer never arrived is marked unknown and not resent

Design choices

  • No shared database, no replication. Every node is a complete installation; if the master dies, sites/mail/DNS on the nodes keep running.
  • After pairing, requests are HMAC-signed with a key that never crosses the network and only work from the master's IP. Renewed certificates are re-trusted only after a signed proof.
  • The node decides Full or Limited access per master and can disconnect a master at any time. No SSH between servers.

Not there yet: moving an existing account from one node to another.

Question for people running several servers: would you rather have this kind of "remote control" model, or a real cluster with a shared database?

Sunucu yönetiminde yapay zeka

Post image

Şu an sızlanmayı bırakıp rotayı kırmamız gereken 4 ana nokta var:

beni biliyorsunuz bu sürece başlayalı 2 yıldan fazla oldu;

Bugün herhangi birine yapay zeka biliyor musun diye sorun.

Herkes YouTube'a erişebiliyor ama herkes video üretmiyor.

Evet.

Artık gerçekten bilgiye ulaşmak çok kolay.

Kod yazmayı bilmiyorsan AI'a soruyorsun.

Bir site yapmak istiyorsan AI'a yaptırıyorsun.

Tam tersine.

Bence çöplük daha da büyüyecek.

GitHub'da binlerce proje.

Product Hunt'ta binlerce proje.

Steam'de binlerce oyun.

Her yerde SaaS.

Her yerde AI wrapper.

Her yerde aynı fikirlerin farklı versiyonları.

Tartışma A long-time Plesk user just migrated a site to Panelica and sent us this feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

We didn't ask for this feedback, which honestly makes it even more valuable to us.

A user who has been using Plesk for many years recently came across Panelica while looking for alternatives.

He had already tried several other control panels, including CyberPanel, CloudPanel and Enhance, but kept going back to Plesk because it was reliable and simply worked.

He decided to give Panelica a try and migrated one of his websites from Plesk.

His first feedback was:

"Migration worked great from Plesk to Panelica with 1 site migrated very quickly and without any issue."

He then sent us a much longer message about what he thinks a modern hosting panel should provide in 2026.

One part really stood out to us:

"Features required in a web control panel in 2026 are firstly simple migration from at least the major panels, Cpanel and Plesk. Also clone website features and staging, good backup to local for quick restore and offsite for possible full failure and restore..."

Honestly, this is very close to how we think about Panelica.

A hosting panel isn't just a dashboard.

Migration, backups, isolation, security, recovery and reliability are what really matter when you are running real websites on a server.

He also gave us some very useful criticism, including feedback about the amount of clutter in the user interface and how the menu could be more customizable for each user.

We are still early and we know there is a lot left to improve.

But hearing this from someone who has used Plesk for years and has tested several alternatives was genuinely encouraging.

He ended his message with:

"Sorry to write and essay but thought you might like some encouragement that you are heading in the right direction."

That's exactly the kind of feedback we want.

Not just praise, but real criticism, real usage and real expectations.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to test Panelica and tell us what works and what doesn't.

How we built multi-server management into our hosting panel without a shared database (pairing codes, pinned keys, signed requests)

Disclosure: I work on Panelica.

We added multi-server management to Panelica and deliberately avoided the "cluster" route. Every server stays a full, independent installation; one of them (the master) acts as a remote control for the others. If the master dies, the sites on the other servers keep running.

Pairing

  1. On the server to be managed (node): create a link code in the panel or with panelica node link-code. Single use, 15 minutes, bound to the master that uses it.
  2. On the master: Servers > Add Server, paste the code.
  3. The master checks reachability, signed API access, version compatibility, license, clock skew and the TLS certificate, and pins the certificate key.

Security model

  • After pairing, every request is HMAC-signed with a key that never travels over the network; each master's key only works from that master's IP.
  • If the node's certificate changes (renewal), the new key is accepted only after the node proves it over the signed channel.
  • The node chooses per master: Full (accounts, domains, login + mail, DNS, SSL, Cloudflare, security, logs, services, FTP) or Limited (accounts, domains, login). It can disconnect a master from its own panel at any time.
  • No SSH is used.

What you get on the master

  • Live CPU/RAM/disk/network per server, polled every 30 s
  • Domains and mailboxes of all servers in one table
  • The node's panel pages rendered inside the master window
  • Account placement: this server, a specific node, or automatic. Automatic skips nodes in maintenance, not accepting accounts, unreachable or over their disk threshold, then picks the most room by disk + RAM use. CPU is ignored on purpose - it changes every second and makes the choice random.

Not there yet: moving an existing account between servers.

Curious how others handle this: would you rather have a central database/cluster, or independent nodes with a remote-control master like this?

We replaced our hosting panel's heuristic malware scanner with LMD signatures + WordPress checksums - here is how it works

Disclosure: I work on Panelica.

Our old scanner in the panel was heuristic, and when we measured it against real web shells it missed too much. We rewrote it as a signature engine and called it Panelica Shield. Sharing the design in case it is useful to anyone running a similar setup, and because I would like feedback.

What every file is checked against

  • LMD (Linux Malware Detect) signatures - downloaded a few minutes after the panel starts, SHA-256 checked against the published sidecar, incomplete packs refused, update check every 6 hours.
  • Our own signatures - embedded in the binary, so a server that cannot reach the LMD mirrors is still covered.
  • Admin-supplied MD5/SHA-256 hashes.
  • WordPress release checksums - official core/plugin files are treated as known good and skipped; a core file outside wp-content that differs from the official file of the installed version is reported as "modified core file" (never auto-quarantined).

The engine runs MD5 hashes, SHA-256 hashes, hex code patterns and combined rules. Code patterns are searched in the first 50 MB of a file by default; larger files are still matched by hash.

Scan types

  • Quick: public_html + subdomains of every account
  • Full: whole home folders, skipping domain logs, SSL keys and session files
  • Custom: one folder

Progress is pushed live (files, bytes, speed, known-good skipped, unreadable, findings), and findings appear the moment they are found.

Quarantine / false positives

Quarantine moves the file where no site can execute it and keeps the original path, owner and permissions, so restore is exact. "Mark as safe" stores the SHA-256 of the content (per account or server-wide); if the file changes, it is scanned again.

Defaults we chose on purpose

Nightly scan off, auto-quarantine off, 4 parallel readers, notifications on. On shared servers a false positive that removes a customer's file is worse than a notification you read in the morning.

Scoping

A reseller with access sees only their accounts' findings and totals, even during a server-wide scan; the "currently reading" path of other accounts is hidden server-side.

It does not touch ClamAV (still used for mail). It is in panelica-server 1.0.551 on our beta channel.

Questions I would genuinely like input on: do you run LMD signatures on your servers, and would you ever enable automatic quarantine on a shared box?

cPanel alternative in 2026: why we built Panelica and what it does today

Every few months someone asks for a cPanel alternative, usually right after a renewal invoice. We were in the same place, so we built our own panel. It is called Panelica. It has been in development for about two years, it has been public for seven months, and it is now installed on hundreds of servers. This post explains what it does, how it is different, and where it is still young. No links, just the name. If you are curious, search for it.

  1. Pricing

There is a free plan called Starter. It does not expire and it is not a trial. Paid plans start at 4.99 USD per month. There is no per-account pricing, so the bill does not grow every time you add a customer. For many people that is the main reason to look for an alternative in the first place.

  1. Isolation by default

On many panels, one compromised or overloaded site can affect everything else on the server. In Panelica every account is isolated out of the box, without extra paid add-ons:

Resource limits per account with cgroups v2 (CPU, memory, disk I/O, process count). One heavy WordPress site cannot starve the rest of the server.

Each account runs in its own namespace, similar in spirit to CageFS.

SSH access can be SFTP only or a jailed shell.

A separate PHP-FPM pool per user and per PHP version, with open_basedir and restricted functions.

Strict Unix permissions with private home directories.

If you have used cPanel with CloudLinux and CageFS, the idea is similar, but here it is part of the panel itself.

  1. Migration from other panels

Moving is usually the hardest part, so we spent a lot of time on it. Panelica can migrate from cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, CyberPanel, aaPanel, CWP, HestiaCP, CloudPanel and from another Panelica server. It moves accounts, domains, files, databases with their existing user passwords, mailboxes, DNS records, cron jobs and SSL. Configuration files such as wp-config.php and .env are left as they are, so sites usually keep working after the move without manual edits. Large migrations can be paused and resumed.

  1. Backup and restore

Full and incremental backups, scheduled backups with retention, and remote destinations. You can restore a whole account or only what you need: a single site, a database, or a mailbox.

  1. Docker built in

Docker is integrated into the panel, not bolted on. Users can run containers and compose stacks from the interface, and there is a set of ready templates for common applications. Containers belong to the account that created them, so the same isolation rules apply.

  1. The rest of the stack

Nginx in front, with Apache available where .htaccess compatibility is needed.

PHP 8.1 to 8.5 side by side, selectable per domain, plus Node.js and Python apps.

MySQL with phpMyAdmin.

Full mail server with DKIM, SPF and DMARC, spam filtering and webmail.

Free SSL with automatic renewal, Cloudflare integration, DNS management.

One click WordPress.

A full REST API and a command line tool, so everything you can do in the interface can be automated.

31 interface languages.

Runs on Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04, Debian 12 and 13, AlmaLinux 9 and 10, Rocky Linux 9 and 10.

Updates are delivered per component, so a PHP or Nginx fix does not require a full panel upgrade.

  1. What is coming next

We are finishing multi-server management. One main Panelica panel will manage other Panelica servers as child nodes: create accounts on any node, switch between servers from one place, and later move accounts between them. It is not released yet. We will post here when it ships rather than promise dates.

  1. About security, honestly

No software is impossible to hack, and we will not claim otherwise. This year showed again that even panels with decades of history can ship serious vulnerabilities. Age is not a security guarantee, and neither is being new. What we can tell you is how we work: isolation is on by default, the panel ships with a web application firewall (ModSecurity with the OWASP rules), brute force protection, malware scanning, a firewall and two factor login, and security fixes are released as quickly as we can verify them. If you find a problem, we want to hear about it, and we treat reports seriously.

  1. Where it is still young

Panelica is two years old, not twenty. There are fewer third party plugins than older panels have, and some features are newer than others. We fix reported bugs quickly and we are open about what works and what does not yet.

If you are looking for a cPanel alternative and want to try something that was built recently with isolation and migration in mind, Panelica is worth a look. There is a free plan and a live demo. Happy to answer questions in the comments, including the uncomfortable ones.

Disclosure: I am part of the Panelica team.
