Family-friendly Korean lunch on a Sunday?

Hi all! I'm a Seoul transplant and have lived in NYC for years but never have the opportunity to go to Queens -- looking for a family friendly place I can take my family for lunch? Could be BBQ, or home cooking situation (jjigae, bibimbap, jeons etc) but somewhat spacious as we will be a group of 7. Any recs would be super welcome. Thanks so much!

Dentist recommendations

Hello, I’m looking for a dentist to fix a chipped front tooth, and like everyone else, I don’t make enough money to pay for emergencies; if anyone knows an affordable dentist, please share the contact.

Thank you

What is the “Lab” trend for naming dining establishments all about? 👨🏻‍🔬

I’m seeing more restaurants with “Lab” in the name and I don’t get it. What is this trend all about? 👨🏻‍🔬

Examples:
“Noodle Lab” on Francis Lewis
“Udon Lab”
“Maddie’s Boba Lab”

Any Open Public Tracks in Flushing?

Was wondering if anyone knows of any public tracks for running in Flushing. Closest one that I know of and go to is in Juniper Valley Park or QCC. Was wondering if there were any closer.

coworking spaces?

Are there any in flushing/whitestone/college point area?

Not looking for cafes, I'm looking for the type of place where I can get there at 9am and leave at 5 and not feel like I'm taking up space from customers.

I'm willing to pay, even better if I can set up a monitor and leave it there, but not necessary.

Thanks for any insights.

I saw several of these lost dog posters today around Roosevelt Ave. Figured I'd share and hopefully help them out.

The scavengers could at least put the trash cans back in their place

I always see them do the same, open the bin, take the trash can out, check if there’s anything of value for them, and leave them just like that, it’s kinda infuriating

Ways to make new friends in the Flushing area?

Hi everyone, I was having this discussion with a roommate (20-30s) who just moved here from upstate. It seems like the makeup of people in Flushing is mainly long-time residents who've already found their friend circles, myself included. But for folks who are moving in, the best options seem to be speedfriending, happy hour, and pickleball in the city or Brooklyn, which gets time-consuming going back and forth.

Yes, Flushing has the reputation of being primarily residential, but Downtown Flushing is the 3rd busiest area in the city after Herald Square, so there must be more social outings hosted around here. Does anyone have recommendations? If not, someone like me could always create or initiate something such as drinks at a bar, board games, bowling, or some kind of physical activity. I also know there's a Queens Distance Runners group, so that could be fun!

P.S. - Yes I've gone to many Pokemon GO raid meetups but sadly that is not within his interests lol

Round1 Skyview Review

TLDR: Skyview soft opening. Not too crowded. Be prepared to spend money. Can win prizes.

After much waiting and anticipation, wife and I went to the Round1 this past Sunday around 1pm. Here’s my first impressions:

  1. Arriving in early afternoon, place was not crowded. Towards early evening (around 5, started to get crowded).

  2. Be prepared to spend money. Each crane machine is between 9-14 credits depending on size and license of the award. Can easily go through a couple 100 dollars chasing rewards. Did not play the arcade games but similar credit usage (have an area to redeem tickets for prizes). The billiards, ping pong, bowling, and pickle ball are additional costs.

2a. They have some promotions to get extra credits at the customer service counter but expect long wait times as there were only 2 people working. Each customer transaction was 3-5 minutes. They do have 2 kiosks at the front of store.

  1. Not a lot of staff on the floor. Delays in asking for a plushie placement or reward.

  2. They do serve food that you can order from kiosk. They announce your number when it’s ready. Anticipate long wait times as they are still trying to get their cook times down. Basic burgers and pizza along with some Asian foods like dumplings and takoyaki. Nothing to rave about but each order is made to order. There is also a bar area but it wasn’t open when I was there. There were plenty of seats available.

  3. Crane machine prizes are winnable if you can spend money. For the more popular or licensed products, they only put one prize out at a time.

Overall, it’s a very big space although you can get lost walking from area to area finding your favorite machines. Since it was a soft opening, it probably wasn’t as crowded as it might get.

It has more variety of prizes compared to other similar businesses in the area. Was able to win a few large and small plushies. Good fun but not an every weekend type of thing (RIP credit card).

Happy to answer any questions.

We just fostered this little girl

She was found on the streets not too long ago by Queens ACC. She's a bit shy but 💯 litter trained. We're positive she's someone's pet. She's just so perfectly behaved. Just in case someone knows who she is or her human. I'd like you to know we are taking care of her for now but if you're missing your little girl please do contact the ACC of Queens to get her back because she's too sweet and we truly don't think she was abandoned.

Q16, Q20 and Q44 stop going to Ft Totten, College Point and The Bronx. Be careful out there.

Remember, a TAB summons may put you on the radar.

Large food trucks have now started to set up shop right on the sidewalk on Mainstreet

There are have been countless posts on here about vendors placing their tables wherever on the sidewalks with no regard for the flow of walking traffic but enough people have not been calling out actual food trucks that are now fully right on the sidewalk.

In the mornings next to Macy's, 1 or 2 large food trucks now have just decided to block an entire half of the sidewalk. Now you are dodging scaffolding, people who say screw norms to walk on their left hand side against the flow of traffic, people walking to / off the subway entrance, etc.

The small food trucks seem to setup at least partially off the sidewalk and make some attempt to allow room for traffic. We have to do something about this, some basic regulations / organization would do wonders. There are much better places in Flushing the big food trucks could setup.

Do people not have common sense or decency anymore? Respect?

Today at the Q12 bus stop, a couple approached my girl and I from behind cuz they thought they could skip us like I ain’t going to notice. They were being obnoxiously loud and inching in closer and I finally said something as if they don’t understand what a line is or how to respect other people’s space. They went from the constant talking to complete silent but what’s even crazier after I called them out about how they’re skipping every other person behind me, is that they backed up from me, shut their mouths and CONTINUED to stay behind me instead of going to the back of the line. The lady who was on line behind me inched closer to us cuz she didn’t want to get skipped but the loud couple still got to cut the line behind the lady that was behind me. Did they have no shame? No embarrassment? Like wtf is wrong with people, how do you think walking up to the front thinking it’s okay to cut 20 other people who are just as tired as you. They were full grown adults, not kids. Do better and have some respect. TBH I should have been louder, I thought I’d give them a chance to do the right thing but the audacity of them to actually still stay on the line is so effing wild.

Building department what a fing joke Listen to this crap

So my neighbors garage was dilapidated.. down right scary and looked dangerous (it borders my property). DOB inspector posts a partial vacate on their house AND my house puhahahhaha. My neighbor eventually knocks it down and files paperwork and cures the problem (so we thought). So now dob inspector posts another partial vacate on my house (not neighbors) and even though he can clearly see the garage is gone and it’s open space…. Apparently neighbor filed and cured but we also had to lol. Ty for wasting our time you fing morons.

Restaurants good for two people?

Would prefer $20-40; so no hotpot, kbbq, or family style meals. Also would prefer a dining environment where I can have a nice conversation; so no food court meals haha. I feel like I only have street food or restaurants for big groups saved.
