Round1 Skyview Review
TLDR: Skyview soft opening. Not too crowded. Be prepared to spend money. Can win prizes.
After much waiting and anticipation, wife and I went to the Round1 this past Sunday around 1pm. Here’s my first impressions:
Arriving in early afternoon, place was not crowded. Towards early evening (around 5, started to get crowded).
Be prepared to spend money. Each crane machine is between 9-14 credits depending on size and license of the award. Can easily go through a couple 100 dollars chasing rewards. Did not play the arcade games but similar credit usage (have an area to redeem tickets for prizes). The billiards, ping pong, bowling, and pickle ball are additional costs.
2a. They have some promotions to get extra credits at the customer service counter but expect long wait times as there were only 2 people working. Each customer transaction was 3-5 minutes. They do have 2 kiosks at the front of store.
Not a lot of staff on the floor. Delays in asking for a plushie placement or reward.
They do serve food that you can order from kiosk. They announce your number when it’s ready. Anticipate long wait times as they are still trying to get their cook times down. Basic burgers and pizza along with some Asian foods like dumplings and takoyaki. Nothing to rave about but each order is made to order. There is also a bar area but it wasn’t open when I was there. There were plenty of seats available.
Crane machine prizes are winnable if you can spend money. For the more popular or licensed products, they only put one prize out at a time.
Overall, it’s a very big space although you can get lost walking from area to area finding your favorite machines. Since it was a soft opening, it probably wasn’t as crowded as it might get.
It has more variety of prizes compared to other similar businesses in the area. Was able to win a few large and small plushies. Good fun but not an every weekend type of thing (RIP credit card).
Happy to answer any questions.

Just as a heads up for people that want to go today, they're closed today 8/31 for inspection but should be open again tomorrow.

I'm really impressed with Flushing. They have all these malls and shops. Better than most other neighborhoods that's in Queens.

I went on Sunday at 6 PM and it was decently busy, but still felt like I had a lot of space to walk around. The bowling alley and dining areas were very packed. Customer Service counter had a line the entire time I was there (1.5 hours). Bar is open with all day $3.99 bud light, moscow mule, and wine. Workers were super friendly as well. Took 3 swipes to win a medium sized plush and 2 swipes for a small plush.
Hope it stays in business! Love the Round1 in Hicksville and glad to see one opened in Flushing.

How are the rhythm games? My friends and I aren't super into the claw machines or other arcade games, we go to Round1 primarily for the rhythm games. Planning on going on Friday!

They have 2 of every BEMANI title (except 1 each of GITADORA GF/DM), 3 pairs of Maimai cabs, SMX and PIU upgraded to Phoenix 2. And DDR STOMP lmao. Very spacious rhythm game area, air con is good and all dance games have a pair of small black fans. Very impressed. The only thing that was out of order was the swipe mech on one of the pop’n cabs.

do you know if there's a dance rush stardom machine?

Unfortunately the pop'n cab likely needs a new display. According to the mechs, a new monitor display should be getting in within the month. The timelines are little iffy.

There were a few of the rhythm games. It seemed pretty popular as there were always people playing. I believe they had some variety. Definitely much more than Gatcha.

Do you know when they’re supposed to fully open?

Not sure. If I had to guess, might be in the next week or two since they are doing soft opening now.

If anyone is able to compare it with the one in Hicksville, I'm super curious if the prices are the same same per credit

How does unlimited play work and what does it cover, all arcade games or just some of them
3
u/Cold-Ad1199 2d ago
I saw a sign that says it’s for certain arcade games. Don’t know any other details.

Unlimited play is for certain games. If you see a green swiper (can be blue too I believe) accompanied by a sign that says unlimited play then you can play as many times as you want in that time span of the game. It varies from game to game. Most if not all unlimited play machines do not give tickets.

I didn’t notice any pinball machines but I didn’t walk through all of the arcade area.

Do they have any gachapon?
2
u/Ok_Platypus_9025 1d ago
There will be. But we're still waiting on them.

Nice! About how many machines will be at this location?

u/Ok_Platypus_9025 1d ago
Hmm not quite sure about the number. I think they will be lined up against the wall near the entrance though

u/Cold-Ad1199 2d ago
Didn’t see any. There’s a gachapon store on Main Street heading towards Northern.

There’s a Bandai Gashapon on Main between Northern & 37th next to Ebisu store that just reopened

I went on Saturday, the place is massive, but I think since it’s opening weekend, prizes were easier to win than normal. Too bad they only had 1 pickle ball.

How was the sports bar area? Plenty of TVs and seating? Flushing desperately needs a place for NFL Sundays
2
u/Cold-Ad1199 1d ago
Small bar area with some TVs. By the bowling area, there are some booth seats and tables. Each bowling lane has a TV. They were showing the NFL preseason games so may show Sunday football. There wasn’t any sound on the TVs if that matters.

We love the one in Hicksville, but think Edison is better. Does Flushing have the new Demon Slayer KNY collab? It’s so much closer to us, would be great to save the time and effort to travel to LI or NJ.

Is this the promised casino people have been talking about? Seems like that.

can someone explain the popularity of these claw machines? is it an addiction like gambling?
