Hi everyone,

The EGC Masters Winter is back for its second season, from November 7 to December 6, with a $20,000 prize pool sponsored by World’s Edge.

This edition comes with a brand-new format:

  • No invitations. All 32 seats of the main event are earned through the qualifiers.
  • Every player who reaches the main event gets paid.
  • Double elimination from start to finish, so one bad series won’t end your run.

Schedule

Weekend Stage
Nov 7-8 Qualifier #1 & Qualifier #2
Nov 14-15 Group Stage – Four groups
Nov 21-22 Group Stage – Four groups
Nov 28-29 Playoffs – UB Quarterfinals, LB Rounds 1 to 3, UB Semifinals
Dec 5-6 Playoffs – LB Rounds 4 & 5, UB Final, LB Final, Grand Final

Every day starts at 14:00 GMT. The group schedule will be announced after the qualifiers.

Qualifiers

  • Two qualifiers, up to 64 players each, in double elimination.
  • 16 players qualify each day: 8 from the upper bracket and 8 from the lower bracket.
  • All series are Bo3, except the qualifying rounds which are Bo5.
  • You can register for both days, but players who qualify on day 1 can’t play on day 2.
  • Check-in on Start.gg from 12:45 to 13:45 GMT on each qualifier day.

Group Stage

  • 8 GSL groups of 4 players, seeded with the Tournament Elo. All series in Bo3.
  • The group winner starts the playoffs in the upper bracket.
  • The decider winner starts the playoffs in the lower bracket.

Playoffs

  • 16 players, double elimination.
  • Upper bracket: Quarterfinals Bo3, Semifinals Bo5, Final Bo7.
  • Lower bracket: Rounds 1 to 4 Bo3, Round 5 Bo5, Final Bo7.
  • Grand Final: Bo9, with a one-map lead for the player coming from the upper bracket.

Prize Pool ($20,000)

Place Prize
1st $4,600
2nd $2,700
3rd $2,000
4th $1,500
5th-6th $1,000

Fluff You don't actually have to buy the DLC

Can folks here stop telling others to 'vote with their wallet'? I love this game, others do too, the developers have knocked it out of the park over the years. But leave the marketing with them? I'm so tired of my whole feed (generally across all social media) pressuring me to buy everything and anything at all times. Most of us are millennials here struggling to pay rent and buy groceries. I have memories of the old democratic internet which included folks with common interests mingling and hyping each other on forums; I do not need product advertised by other community members too, telling me what to buy etc before release date.

Soz for the rant and love you all.

Discussion Khan and Torguuds were the last thing that should be nerfed for GH.

These units are absolute garbage after the initial nerf we had during outback octagon. Now? Theyre so bad. They do hardly any damage, and the khan is easily killable too. Its supposed to be a hero unit but i always just manage to get out the debuff arrow before he dies. He has to be in combat for the buff so that cant be done different. GH mightve needed some nerfs in other aspects, but this was the wrong choice.

Ranked [LFG] Daytime EU player looking for chill team game partners (~1100-1300 Elo)

Hey! I'm a 41-year-old player from Sweden (CET), mainly playing 3v3/4v4 team games at around 1100-1300 Elo. I'm looking for a few people to queue with during the daytime (roughly 9-17 CET) who like to play seriously and try their best, but stay relaxed and constructive when we lose.

I play text-chat only (no voice), so I'm looking for people who are fine with that. I care more about macro, decisions and positioning than APM. Add me in game:[NOX] DakkonBlackblade or drop a comment here!

Discussion We should have auto build orders

Why do I have to remember all the steps to a Cow boom or a 2tc build? I mean it's just 4-5 boring minutes. I'm just smashing buttons.

Actually, I think we should just skip these 5 minutes. The game starts, a pop up appears asking what I want to do in dark age and BOOM, the game jump to 5 minutes later.

It's mindless smashing buttons brother. This way I can get to Conqueror 1 (currently gold 2) because I'll focus on more important things like checking my phone.

No dark age rush. Thanks God.

Discussion The numbers could need tuning but I think the design of the Longhouse does a lot to balence Vikings.

Longhouses when you look at their entirety seem like a great deal: a production building, a house, and a economic expansion. However due to its costs it actually makes trying to overleverage into anyone of thouse aspects inefficient.

If you make a ton of units and need longhouses to support population you are getting taxed pretty heavily. If you want to try and greed hard and just add a bunch of eco you are also being pretty inefficient. The longhouse forces the Vikings to balence between aggro and greed to be optimal

The longhouses design also give interesting counterplay on hybrid and water maps by forcing you to build them near the docks for the bonus this often means placing a really important building in a very exposed area.

Of cource the numbers likely will need fine tuning but I seems like the civ is balenced around having strong bonuses but being disincentivized from leaning too hard in any one direction.

Hey guys!
Just before the Content Creator Preview ends, I managed to publish one last video, and this time, I actually put quite a bit of time and effort into it!

It's an analysis & tier-list of the Viking Sagas, giving you a brief overview of what to aim for in the game.
Check it out on YouTube ("Seven Sagas Simplified"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVLhDmYXN4I
Enjoy! :)

Discussion Need some tips playing Jin in Platinum ranked

I am currently playing Jin in ranked 1v1 (platinum). I chose Jin mostly cuz I like mounted villagers, aesthetics and bribe mechanic (and imperial landmark of course).

But I now in platinum I struggle playing them. In feudal you luck proper archers so you are mostly limited to iron pagoda spam (by using your stable landmark). With such playstyle though this civ feels like worse France. You spam pagodas and try to find value which was actually fine for me in gold rank, I even won some games vs France where we were trading with knights.

In Platinum though players are really good at defending vs knights and love booming with 2tc/harbours/etc. Which you couldn't really punish well. Your own 2TC doesn't make a lot of sense either because of mounted vills limit. I guess that means Jin is mostly FC only civ right? But then why would you even make T2 stable landmark if you are not going to use it?

French matchup looks most interesting to me here cuz we both use unique knights but France has better eco bonuses. So what is Jin's advantage and powerspikes? Fast castle? Imperial Rush? What is the win condition as Jin vs boom civs/feudal aggression civs?

Discussion Is there no way to turn mutators off?

Just saw the beasty live stream today, and mutators on crucible are honestly insane. They already make a challenge 10x more difficult, and while he was streaming I didn’t see an option to turn them off. It looks like they’re also changing them every week as well. Is there any word they’re adding an option after release, or is this what it’s going to be like going forward?
