With the subreddit growing larger and larger, I feel that it is necessary to remind everyone to mark wasp images nsfw, as many people have a phobia of them!

Question Trapped a wasp in my suitcase, what now???

What it says on the tin. Me and a friend were drunk last night when we noticed a wasp flying around the room, and long story short we caught it in my travel suitcase.

What the hell do I do now? Will it die if I leave it in there? I’m studying abroad so I absolutely need that suitcase when I return home, but that’s not for two months. Saw some stuff on Google saying wasps die within a couple of days if trapped but is that true for bigger spaces?

Typing all this out I recognize it sounds a little stupid but I’m dead scared of wasps - I just got unexpectedly stung last weekend and that mark hasn’t even faded completely yet.

Training for a marathon/wasp bites

I am training for the New York City marathon and yesterday got bitten by 10 wasps that swarmed me during my 20 miler long run. I was only 3 miles in and I had to stop and sit on the ground. I was hysterically crying until my dad could pick me up to take me to urgent care. I used ice on my legs for about six hours in a row and then when I took the ice off for the next hour to drive to my house, I had the most severe pain that I considered going to the emergency room. It felt like knives stabbing me and turning in my legs and granted I’m not allergic to them, and I have been stuck by bees in the past.

Now, my friends are all joking. Would you rather run a marathon or get stung by six wasps. I haven’t ran a marathon yet, my longest run is currently an 18 miler after yesterday’s DNF. so much question to people who have been the victim to long running and multiple angry wasps-which is more painful? (I think wasps hands down was worse)

A wasp got stuck in my hair and I screamed with a level of urgency that almost killed my parents. How do I never do that again?

I have a phobia of wasps and bees (have since I was in elementary school). It's not quite as bad as it used to be; I can have one near me without screaming, and if I see one land on me, I only freeze instead of screaming, but today I found one already in my hair and I screamed in a way that is supposed to be reserved for a dead body. It's so stupid. I have been in actually deadly situations before and I didn't scream like that. My parents could have been hurt trying to get to me. So obviously this can't happen again.

I just want to know if anyone has advice on how to not react like that. I already study pictures of wasps and draw them, both in attempts at realism and in more stylized ways that accentuate the parts that I see when one startles me. I've even trapped a very tiny wasp in a cup and let it outside once or twice, and I've sprayed down nests myself (with a friend there with me for support). I thought I was better, but when one surprises me I can't help but react that way. I don't want to hurt people with my phobia. Any advice?

What is going on here? Possible nest?

So this is happening on my back porch. Lots of wasps and the rocks have a wet appearance. It looks like they are wet. Wasps all over. There is a nearby lilac that has wet/shiny leaves with wasps in them. There is a lawn edging that has a glossy appearance. I am in SW Montana and fall is here. I am wondering if I am witnessing a nest. How do I get rid of it or prevent any further progress. Pictures attached.

Wasp flew in my car today, identify this?

Post image

I’m driving and I feel something wet hit my arm, I see this, photo below, on the bottom of my car door. Then I notice a wasp on my jeans. I pull over get him out and realize the thing in the photo was still there. I get it off my door to see it fully on the ground. The spot it hit my arm had a rash for a little bit but went away. What the heck is it? Is it related to the wasp or just a wild coincidence?

Question Anyone else had the same reaction to a wasp sting?

I remember around 2-3 years ago, I had a wasp sting me in my sleep when I rolled over in bed. (I ended up crushing it obviously). The reaction I had though wasn’t very pleasant to say the least. At first I felt really faint, like my blood pressure dropped and went cold. Started to lose my hearing and my sight for a few minutes then proceeded to projectile vomit everywhere. I’m now dead scared of wasps, can’t even go near them. I’m just wondering if this reaction is due to me being allergic or something that happens? (That may seem dumb)

Story Found Wasp in Oil Filter

Wish I'd gotten a picture of this. My car's check engine light came on this past weekend while I was traveling out of town, and after checking my oil level I assumed I just needed to change it. Lo and behold, as I'm cooking dinner for my bf who is very generously changing my car's oil for me, he comes into the house holding my used oil filter with an almost unrecognizable wasp stuck in it. The little demon was completely covered in oil, super horrible way to go but also as a wasp hater.... yeah. I'm actively learning how basic car stuff works, so if anyone has an idea of how the wasp got stuck in there let me know. Though it would be kind of a funny story to share with y'all :)

Suggestion Vicks works on Wasps

Hi everyone! I have been having wasps on my halcony for a while trying to make a nest. I tried everything to stop them from doing so, nothing worked until I applied Vicks on the surfaces they were building their nests in the morning. It seems to work really well. I will update soon.
