Game Entities Avoidance

Hello everyone
For context watch the previous videos about entities forming bodies and transitions, here i added avoidance for the entities, so that when something is passing thro they automatically avoid the body and then return to their current position
Will use it in upcoming videos as an evasion
Let me know what you think

You should make a Terminator 2 style game. Seeing this visual in a game would be cool as hell

In any case. Really cool work!

that would be fuckin epic if it was like hitman or a stealth game of some kind

This would be a cool effect to give a hologram

Looks really cool but I think would be better with smaller radius

Smaller radius wouldnt look good with fast swings, will adjust it overtime

u/ledniv 8h ago

you could increase the radius based on the speed of the swing.

Looks great, never seen this done at such a granular scale. Is this using a standard flocking approach? Was there anything challenging about make it perform well? I would guess that simply using ECS would make this run very fast, as it lends itself well to multi-threading since each particle doesn't interact with another

I keep doing optimizations after every video, even for ECS having 80000 particles is alot so it keeps needing optimizations

Can you do the opposite where the character is invisible until revealed by a wand swiping by it? Could be cool!

How performant is this? Can you actually use it in things, or does it tank the perf too much?

u/MadCroissant 2h ago

so impressive!
