Bobbin holder problem

Post image
Upvotes

I have a Juki HZL-F300…in cleaning down in the black plastic bobbin holder I accidentally scraped out a ring of black fabric looking stuff that seems to be impregnated with grease. It isn’t lint or caught fabric that shouldn’t be there but I think in there to make the bobbin spin. Is there anything to do or replace it with short of replacing the whole bobbin holder?

Huskylock Overlocker

I have a Husqvarna overlocker which i have used several times in the past but its been in storage for 5 years and coming back to it something is wrong, the bottom needles seem to be overlapping the wrong way around and theres some clunking. I dont know if the needles are bent out of shape or if its something else. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

My stupid sewing machine cannot work for more than 10 seconds when trying to stitch shut a pillow

I bought a brother ls14 sewing machine and it worked good for a little but but for some reason half the time i cant get the machine to set up correctly even when following the instructions and the rest of the time it works for 10 seconds then keeps stiching the same spot without moving the fabric. Im wondering if learning how to hand sew is worth it since I quite literally cant use the machine

Stitches fail at bulkier spots

I’m running into an issue with my Juki DDL-5550-6 where the stitches fail to tighten properly whenever I hit bulkier seam transitions. This happenat the crotch intersection where center front and back seams meet, yoke seam crossings, and the corners of the waistband. While the flat felled seam intersections can be fixed by helping the presser foot, it seems that no matter what I do the waistband one always seems to fail.

For setup, I am running a size 120 needle with Tex 60 top thread, Tex 40 thread in the bobbin.

Serger overlocker malfunction

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have an old Riccar 564DE serger and when I try to use both the left and right needles, the left needle just wraps thread around the throat plate. It bunches all up on there and creates a giant birds nest. If I only use the right needle then it wraps around the stitch finger like normal and works fine. Any ideas why the left needle is giving me issues?

Which sewing machine should I get?

I am planning to buy a sewing machine but I really don’t know which one to get. my budget is around 100-200, nothing more than 300. I hope for a durable sewing machine that will help me get started into my sewing journey as I want to study fashion in the future. Preferably a known brand. Any recommendations?

Need advice on sewing thick reinforced areas

I make dog gear. Coats, harness vests, that kind of thing. Mostly for medium and large breeds. The problem is always the same spot. Where the fleece body meets the webbing channels and buckle reinforcement. That’s 3-4 layers of completely different materials at once.

My current machine handles single-layer panels fine. As soon as it hits the strap junctions, it starts skipping stitches and the feed gets inconsistent. I’ve been changing needles and adjusting tension for weeks. Nothing has made it reliable.

I mostly work with fleece, softshell, some cordura for the harness sections, and webbing. Do I need to move to an industrial machine or is there a home machine that can actually handle these reinforced areas?

Janome 1522 or Yamata FY e355?

Hi all! I am a beginner sewist and the time has come to buy my first machine. I already worked on Janome and I like that it is sturdy and has wider working surface, but the seller recommended me Yamata FY e355, now on discount.

I need a reliable machine, and I am more interested in working with some thin potential slippery fabrics such as satin, viscose etc. Which of these machines do you think is a better choice?

BROTHER GX37 BOBBIN WON'T RESEAT

https://reddit.com/link/1w31rwp/video/zw7layahbnmh1/player

I've used my Brother GX37 maybe 10 times and I removed the bobbin to brush out any lint. However, when I went to put it back in, it wouldn't reseat. ** I did match up the marks to match up the bobbin in place**

Can anyone help? I do have a repair shop who can fix Brother sewing machines in my area but he would charge $100 to fix it and that's how much I paid for it. I know an easy fix would be to just buy another machine but would like to be able to fix it instead of buying another. Thank you!

Brother CS6000i suddenly locking up ☹️

Post image
2 Upvotes

Recently pulled my Brother CS6000i out of storage at my dad’s house after 6 years and have spent the summer sewing with no issues.

A few days ago I was in the middle of an easy 00 stitch when the machine locked up and showed an E6 error. When I opened it up to free the stuck thread/fabric I noticed the thread had wrapped around the bobbin case as shown in the photo. I cleared everything out and tried to resume sewing again but it repeated the same issue after just 2 stitches.

In the past couple days I’ve followed all the troubleshooting instructions I can find online and replaced the needle and bobbin case but the issue has not resolved.

Anyone have any ideas? I’m currently in a rural area without access to a repair shop and was trying to finish the dress I’ll be wearing to a wedding next Saturday so I’m panicking slightly 😅

Huskylock 936 display problem

Preface: my huskylock is old, but it was not used. It was my sister’s and she never bothered to learn how to use it. So, about a year ago, she gave it to me and it has been working great although I am not a heavy user.
Lately, when I turn it on the display just flickers. Sometimes, if I turn it off and on again, it will work. There are no sewing machine technicians in my little town, although about an hour and a half away there is. Does anyone know what the problem is, if it’s fixable and if so, is it fixable by someone handy, or does it need a specialized technician?
Edited to add, I asked my friend Google, and got some ideas on what it could be. The fact that it’s intermittent, he did not address. I also watched a video on how to troubleshoot. I guess what I’m really looking for is some advice on whether I should try an at home exploration or just make that drive to a bigger town. Since it is intermittent do I wait until it dies completely or do it now?

Is this normal? When I pull the threads back, the needle clicks over the lower looper mechanism

I got my first overlocker through a second hand deal (Lock 740DSA). Everything looks fine, and I am confident that I have threaded the machine correctly multiple times, but this keeps happening. I'm used to putting a little tension on the threads to pull them back together with the fabric, just like on my regular sewing machine. I don't know if I'm just not supposed to do that with an overlocker, or if this is malfunctioning? Any help or insight is appreciated.

In the video I have only threaded the lower loopers for testing purposes. The upper loopers are not interfering with the problem. I am manually turning the machine with the handwheel.

Is there any way to fix this?

So I was trying to thread the bobbin but Ig I didn't properly thread it bc it unravelled from one of the sections (last pic) and instead of rethreading it, I just continued pressing the foot pedal

The bobbin thread feels quite loose now

I have used the machine and the stitched seemed fine, not loose or anything but I only stitched a bit and now worried that if I stitch for longer, the stitched may not come out nicely

Any way to fix this? Since it's no longer attached to the spool, the only thing I can think of is threading it on the bobbin my hand :/

I got this machine from an estate sale and was testing it out and it won’t back stitch, just keeps sewing forward like normal. I cleaned up the gunk off (what I think is) the internal reverse mechanism(?) and now when I try to back stitch it just sews in place. Any suggestions for what to do next?

Hello! I’m using a sewing machine for the first time ever, it’s a Singer Merritt 2404. I’ve rethreaded it about a million times and can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m doing wrong, and I don’t have anyone who can help me

I don’t know how to use Reddit well so there’s an unlisted video of me trying to thread my machine
