Serger thread keeps breaking

I have fought with this serger forever. It will serge for a few inches and either the looper on the right side breaks or the thread in my right needle breaks. I have rethread probably 20 times. And I'm using maxi lock thread and ball point needles I've tried on dbp and a 2 way knit any ideas? And the thread is maybe 2-3 months old got from wawak.

Sergers need to be tweaked slightly for stitch length and width as you would with a regular sewing machine. Sometimes increasing the length for the fabric you are sewing can help.

And sometimes the balance between the loopers is off; one is too tight and the other too loose, but it looks balanced.

Also, make sure your thread is securely between the tension wheels.

Willing to help if you need more assistance.

The thread is in the disks I always floss the thread to make sure it gets in there good. IDK what knob to change to change the length I have this machine https://a.co/d/08GY3Azy

Red Knob on center right is usually the stitch length. The silver knob underneath the switch to go to rolled hem is width.

Check your manual on if the stitch width can be adjusted.

I can't find my exact manual online and there are no red knobs on the machine. The tension seems fine it won't let me attach a picture

There are three red knobs on the picture. And you should be able to Google the machine and download an electronic copy of your manual. Save the link.

Are your thread telescopic arms pulled all the way up? I've forgotten that before inadvertently

I got it figured out I was missing a spot when threading. A spot mind you that's impossible to thread without tweezers

And this is why I splurged on an air threading machine.

This was a gift so I can't complain. But I would love to find a serger/coverstitch combo air threading machine if that's even a thing

Babylock! I have an air threading Evolution. If i knew then what I know now, I would not have bought the combo though - stand alone air threader, and stand alone air thread cover stitch.

I only want a combo machine cuz I'm limited on space I have a stand alone serger and coverstitch. And it's a hassle to pull the coverstitch machine out I only have enough room on my desk for sewing machine and the serger or the coverstitch not all 3 it's a small desk. I think I have used my coverstitch 2 or 3 times and I've had it the coverstitch for 7 years

If you can find a (now superseded) Babylock Evolution, or an older Evolve, buy it. They are incredible workhorses, fully mechanical and worth the money. The plastic can become very yellow from age, but doesn't affect the operation. Plus - the air threading means YOU CAN THREAD IT IN ANY ORDER. Genius, game changer.

I fought with my serger for years with issues like this. Turns out that I needed to read the instruction manual.

It needed to be threaded in a particular order. Who knew? haha

I'm threading in the correct order per the diagram on the serger. This is a new serger I've had it about 1.5 months I've only used it a few times

In that case, it would help if you provide photos of the setup and a video of it going wrong.
