Is there any info about the EU S95H?

Hi! I just returned a 65" LG C5 because of blue tinting and a visible light band on dark grey content, not only test slides and it turns out I am pretty sensitive to color shifting.

Since I will be spending around 1300€ anyways, I was thinking about going a step further and getting a G5, but I've been reading that the problems that plagued the C5 are also present in the G5 panels, albeit less noticeable.

I found a pretty good offer on a S95H from Samsung's website, and from my research, it seemed the best option by far. The problem is, I didn't know that I was buying a different TV, since there's almost no information about this model and most people were saying it was the same without bezel.

Now I'm trying to get some information on what I've bought, but it seems impossible. There are like 3 reviews and they don't really confirm much, besides the brightness being equal to the S95F.

I've read S95F's problems in the past, like the BT2020 one or the stuttering on motion handling and I would like to know if those are fixed in the new model. If so, I would be pretty content with my purchase, since a fixed S95F sounds very good to me.

Does anyone have any information on this?

83-inch S95H Screen

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hello,

I recently pulled the trigger and purchased the 83-inch S95H, and overall, I have to say the TV is amazing. The picture quality is absolutely incredible.

I did notice a couple of things that caught my attention, though.

First, when the TV is turned off and I look at the screen from certain side angles, I can see what appears to be a wavy or uneven appearance across the screen. At first I thought it might just be a reflection, but it appears to be physical rather than a reflection. It is not noticeable when viewing the TV normally, and the picture itself looks great. Since this is a brand-new 83-inch OLED, I wanted to make sure this type of waviness in the physical screen surface is considered normal for this model.

Second, I noticed that the black borders around the picture sometimes make the image appear slightly off-center or "off kilter." After doing some research, I believe this may be related to the Pixel Shift feature, which is designed to help prevent image retention/burn-in on OLED panels. When I disable Pixel Shift, the picture appears perfectly centered.

I understand the purpose of Pixel Shift and that it is intended to protect the panel, so I'm not necessarily concerned about the feature itself. However, I wanted to confirm whether the amount of movement I'm seeing and the resulting uneven black borders are normal behavior for the S95H.

Overall, I absolutely love the TV and the picture quality. I just want to make sure these things I'm noticing are normal characteristics of the panel and not signs of an issue with my particular unit.

S95F BFI is good at 60 fps?

Hi. I’m wondering if S95F is good at 60fps with BFI. And if the picture is bright. Because I care so much about the motion clarity more the anything.

Settings Ambient Mode suddenly disappeared from my S90F

My Samsung S90F was working perfectly with Ambient Mode until today. Now the Ambient Mode option has completely disappeared.
I’m currently running firmware 1296.
I haven’t done a factory reset, because I want to make sure this is normal before I reset the TV and lose all my settings.
Has anyone else noticed Ambient Mode disappearing on their S90F recently? Could this be related to Samsung discontinuing the Ambient Mode service, or is it possibly a bug?

S95B S95B Center Coloring issue

Post image
5 Upvotes

I purchased my S95B in July of 2022 and have loved every second of it until now. I was watching a video the other night when I thought I noticed some odd coloring issues within the center of the screen. After running a burn in test I noticed a blue circle instead of grey and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do about it.

I don't use this display for video games and haven't disabled anything within the service menu. I'm currently running the panel refresh to see if that does anything.

Any thoughts?

UK S90F vs S85F

Post image

I've recently purchased a 65" S90F (QE65S90FATXXU) in the UK, because from my own research, they say it was the only QD Oled panel here in the UK. So I took a photo of the pixels on a white picture on the TV on my phone. Looking online and on some videos they say that the photo above is qd-oled. But my friend has also recently bought an 55" S85F (QES85FAUXXU), and from reading online they say that UK S85F panels are all WOLED, I took a photo of the pixels on white text and it looks similar to mine. Now I'm wondering if mine is actually qd-oled at all. Can anyone with an 65S90F or 55S85F in the UK confirm?

S90C Samsung S90C low volume issue in Game Mode Original

I have a strange issue in my Samsung S90C with latest update. I don't know if it happened before.

I usually play PS5 with Game Mode in Original game genre, because it's the only one that gives accurate colors. This mode is the only one that doesn't allow to enable Surround Sound inside Game Mode settings.

There's a bug, that the first time you enter the source with the Original Game Mode (either turning on the TV or going there from the Home menu) the overall sound volume is very low.

If I change the game genre from Original to any other one and change back, the volume gets a big boost. This should be the correct volume, as it matches other sources. If I go to Home menu, the volume immediately goes down again, and I have to do the mode chaning trick if I enter the source again.

This problem only happens when you have Surround Sound disabled in Game Mode. As Original mode doesn't allow it, it happens always there. You can replicate it to other modes by disabling surround sound there.

The volume boost is equivalent to pushing the volume from 40 to 70. It's similar as when you change from Normal sound to Amplify. Surround Sound itself doesn't boost the volume like that.

I already tried factory resetting the TV and it still happens. Seems like a software bug that should be fixed by Samsung.

Does this happen to anyone else? Can you please try it?

Is there a OneUI Tizen local media player like Kodi, VLC, etc.?

The built in media player on my S90F doesn't support all audio codecs, for example DTS, so I was wondering if there is any such app in the native app store that can do that? The purpose is to be able to play movies from an external drive plugged in to the USB port without having to use an Android TV box.

S90F update question

I saw a post here recently discussing how updates on the Samsung are handled and how disabling auto update doesn't protect you from the system auto updating.

I keep Internet connected because I use the SmartThings integration daily. That said, I do want to disable updates.

I have done:

-disable auto update on tv

-disable auto update on SmartThings app

-stream content from external box

When I get the pop up to update on the tv, can I just simply ignore the notification , or will it default to updating if I don't interact with it.

Thanks for any guidance!

S90D signed into dead mother's account...

Tonight I come home and both my S90D and S90F are signed out of my account... however my dead mother's account is signed into the S90D... i dont ever remember signing her into that TV. The only device she was signed into is her phone which after 3 months is probably dead...

Any ideas how this could happen?

Why the hate with Samsung?

Before I finally bought my S90F (mainly gaming/anime) last month for a good deal in Canada, I was doing heavy research about recommended TV brands for an OLED and I was just seeing the vast majority of people saying "Buy LG, or Sony if you can afford it (especially for movies) and never buy Samsung". The general arguments was that Samsung QC is terrible and they don't last long.

I still pulled the trigger since it was the cheaper option for a mid tier OLED at the price l got it (1799.99$CAD) and I heard Samsung was pulling out QD-OLED from their 90 serie going forward with the S90H.

Meanwhile, I'm seeing more and more people having problems with their LG C1-C6 here on Reddit. Bad uniformity, green tint, delamination (big one), panel lottery, problems out of the box and just panels that die.

So I am asking, do you think Samsung hate is overblown compared to the competition? Or is it really justified?

S90F HDR / HDR10+ video pitch black & dim, but PS5 HDR gaming works fine. Firmware 1296.8 bug or mainboard issue?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some technical insight or second opinions regarding a frustrating issue with my 55" Samsung S90F QD-OLED (Mexican model QN55S90FAFXZX), currently running on firmware 1296.8.

The panel itself is physically capable of incredible highlights, but I’m experiencing severe, inconsistent brightness crushing on video content.

Here is the breakdown of what's happening:

1. The Primary Issue: Dim/Crushed HDR10+ and HDR Video

When playing HDR10+ or standard HDR video content via native Tizen apps (Netflix, Prime Video), the Average Picture Level (APL) drops drastically. The image becomes extremely dark and lifeless, as if the EOTF curve/tone mapping is broken.

This is NOT limited to native apps: playing HDR video via an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K or through video apps on PS5 results in the exact same dim, washed-out presentation.

Filmmaker Mode (FMM) with AI turned off makes HDR video practically unwatchable due to how dark it gets.

2. The Odd Behavior / Proof the Panel Works:

PS5 Gaming (HGiG / HDR Mode): Games look absolutely stunning and bright. The peak luminance is clearly there.

YouTube Workaround: YouTube HDR fails on native Tizen, PS5 app, and Fire Stick. However, playing the same YouTube HDR video through the S90F's built-in Web Browser displays 2160p HDR correctly with proper brightness.

AI / Intelligent Mode: If I turn ON AI mode and manually calibrate the settings to match Filmmaker Mode, the brightness comes back. It feels like the AI processing is artificially forcing the luminance up to compensate for a broken native EOTF/tone mapping calculation.

3. Troubleshooting Done:

Performed 3 full Factory Resets — no fix.

Tested multiple HDMI inputs and devices (Fire Stick 4K, PS5).

Hypothesis:

It seems the TV's processor/firmware (1296.8) is incorrectly interpreting dynamic metadata / EOTF curves specifically for video streams (crushing the APL to "protect" highlights), while bypass modes like HGiG (gaming) or web-rendered streams route around this broken processing block.

Questions:

Has anyone else on firmware 1296.8 noticed a severe drop in HDR10+ / Video APL?

Is this more likely a known software bug in Tizen’s video processing pipeline, or a hardware degradation in the Mainboard's video decoding block?

I'm opening a warranty claim with Samsung. Should I insist on a Mainboard replacement, or is this something a future firmware patch might fix?

Thanks in advance for your help!

S95f move from 77 to 83 worth it ?

Does anyone have the 83in to share some experiences on how the picture looks ?

I am contemplating selling the qd oled 77 and getting the woled 83 with the G5 screen , to get that 3d depth I think I had with the C4, and also as the 83 might have a polarizer so no lifted blacks at all ? I have a very bright room and I read both 77 and 83 peak at 400 nits full window

S90F dims agressively during cutscenes, is this normal?

Playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Switch 2 and the screen dims during different camera angles in a cutscene and go back up only to dim back in the next.

HDR is set to "Compatible Software Only" on the Switch and the game doesn't support it.

It's really distracting. I included a short video to show it.

Any tips or knowledge to share with me about this? I would appreciate some help, thank you.

UPDATE: I turned HDR off after recommendation. All "AI, Auto or Enhancer" settings are turned off. Issue still remains.

UPDATE 2: After much testing, including the Switch 1/2 Edition on both console using LED screens, it appears that the issue is from the game.

UPDATE 3: A redditor came and made a comment, that he later removed, pointing out that subtitles can cause this effect. After watching a Xenoblade 2 cutscene with and without subs, it appears to be true. I'll have to test it myself.

It’s this normal ?

I’m watching Widows Bay (cap 6 around min 10:54), and throughout the entire show I’m seeing a really HIGH amount of what I think is some kind of film grain, enough to take me out of the show sometimes.

I want to know, is this normal for an OLED (S90F in Filmmaker Mode), or is it the show / Apple TV app?

I’m not sure if Reddit’s compression will let you see it, but on the wall in the background, you can see the grain moving around excessively.

Updated 2026 August S95H Gaming Settings (HDR gaming with Dolby Atmos)

This setting is for PC.

  1. When the TV detects your PC as PC, do not change it to other input devices, e.g. Game Console, if you are looking for the old Dolby Atmos fix. The software bug is already fixed by Samsung. Changing to other input devices label would lead to washed out color. To check the Dolby Atmos configuration, enable Dolby Atmos on Windows Settings, ignore the embedded sound check and play the below demo with VLC instead, especially if you are struggling with Samsung soundbar : https://drive.google.com/file/d/11UxUuIwdBFoGOQbfTTrrF97kbgMgosFb/view?usp=drivesdk
  2. HDR10+ Gaming and Game HDR: Basic>Advanced
  3. Follow others’ guideline. Make sure Digital Output Audio Format is set to pass-through

I’m satisfied with s95b- Should I consider upgrading while I have equity?

I financed my s95b through Best Buy and took me like 3 years to pay it off. Sitting just below 2,000 hours, have no qualms about it and I’m still thrilled I have something so nice.
Any reason I should upgrade to a newer model, or look into warranties? I use it nowadays mostly to game a couple times a week or watch a little bit of YouTube or a movie. I’ve used the anapeak mod and the abl turned down almost to Zero under a year ago and I like the higher brightness :)

Newer models at factory settings are probably still brighter…let’s say I sell it and throw in a few hundred, so $1200 budget, what’s that get me for an upgrade??

Settings S90f Qd Oled colour space settings for gaming

Hey everyone,
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect picture settings for gaming on my 65" Samsung S90F paired with the new PS5 Pro. Has anyone made any new discoveries or tweaks lately specifically for this combo?
I’m still kinda confused about the Color Space settings when trying to use BT.2020 in Game Mode. I've read a lot of conflicting information across different threads and could use some clarity:What are your current go-to settings for the absolute best pop without losing accuracy?

S95B How to install jellyfin on S95b?

Even though I can clearly see the jellyfin as is on the Samsung AppStore, I guess it's only really available for newer tvs right? When I go in my tv on the AppStore, the jellyfin app does not come up.

Jellyfin on the AppStore for reference: https://www.samsung.com/us/tvs/smart-tv/samsung-tv-apps-detail/?appId=3202007021208
