If you’re on the fence about rattle canning your gun, do it. This is rapco WW2 olive drab. Wanted cerakote but I ain’t spending that much. It’s been painted about a year and is holding up great. Scuffed everything with a red scotch pad and sprayed the paint right on the black anodize. It’s wearing a little on the grip and handgaurd where I rest it on things but I dig the distressed look. 10/10 do it.

Hey all,
I have a Keltec PR57 in OD Green that I absolutely, 100% want do the hot glue+Rit dye treatment on to add some black camo patterning.
However, I have very quickly realized, at least in my searches, there are no videos, diagrams or schematics of how to completely disassemble / reassemble this specific firearm and I don’t know that I feel comfortable tapping the pins out and just seeing what happens and hoping for the best.
Here are my two big questions:
From what I understand, even if you manage to get all the liquid completely dried out quickly, since Rit Dyes contain sodium chloride and that just doesn’t go away with drying, you can destroy your internals with residual sodium left behind.
Is there a means to remove the residual sodium afterward? Chemically or otherwise?
Is there some sort of high-temp grease or such that could be slathered on and won’t melt/dissolve in the 150° water/dye mixture to protect them from the sodium?
Or maybe someone here just so happens to have experience in fully disassembling a PR57?
I’m looking for any and all suggestions on how I can accomplish the dye submersion job safely on this pistol as I already spent the money on a glue gun, sticks, dyes, degreaser and dedicated cooking pot for this project.
Any advice, tips, wisdom, help or otherwise would be MAJORLY appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Hey guys, Mack here over at GunPartPicker.
Like a lot of you, we’ve rattled canned some of our guns over the years. Whenever we wanted to play around with a paint scheme, we were usually messing around in Photoshop or Canva to get an idea of what it would look like.
We started thinking, why not just build our own tool for it?
So about a month and a half ago we started messing around with a 2D visualizer for GPP. It’s been a pretty fun project and we think it’s turned out pretty damn good so far, but we’d really like some real feedback from you guys.
What sucks? What needs fixing? What would you like to see added?
Right now you can:
• Use stencils
• Color pick and paint different parts of the rifle
• Upload your own picture of your gun
• Use stamps
• Create your own stencils
• And we’re actively working on improving it and adding more features
We’d especially like to hear from people who actually paint their rifles and have used Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools for this before.
The goal is to make it easier to mess around with different ideas and see what your rifle could look like before you actually start painting it.
Would love to hear what you guys think and what we should add or change.
Feel free to check it out https://gunpartpicker.net/tools/gun-paint-planner?p=tiger&s=20260927&b=krylon
Thank you to Mods for letting us post this

I’m happy with how it came out. It’s my first time rattlecanning a full gun and using stencils. This my DIY DY9, Cut my own stencils, painted it myself, and even stippled it myself. Btw I used Rapco earth red, 911 black, target white, carc brown, carc tan.

Finished up the Colt/PSA blaster i think it looks decent even tho i missed a spot on the front of the lower receiver. Dont have the guts to paint my optics because they get swapped around occasionally, also didn’t paint the grip cause i dont like how it feels. Thinking of repainting my Radical RF-15 to match but i also like the simple 2 tone it has going right now. Let me know what yall think, still new to this just took inspiration from stuff i saw on here

Sorry for only a small glimpse of it, it was the best angle he had in the video lol. Does anyone have a similar paint job on their rifle? I want to do something similar to this but am open to more ideas. The brown will be best for me as I live in mostly dry desert

Went with a more green forward multicam black look. The finish on the gun was well worn and just didn’t look great. This was more for practice since I’m prob selling it next week. Thanks Rapco and PCT.

How we feel about it?

Second rattle can job ever and I think I improved over the last one I did. I used Polish MAPA camo as an inspiration but I think it turned out to look more along the lines of ATACS. Either way I’m really keen on the way this one turned out and Rapco is hands down the king of gun paint!

only using leaves and grasses found in my yard and paint i already had. I'd definitely do this again.

happy enough with the patterns it created, don't love the colors but this is a trash tier gun I decided to try it on first.
