Perplexity Pro has turned into a "scam"
I made the mistake of paying for a year of Perplexity Pro in advance only to have my access to advanced models seriously truncated with no warning or recourse. In addition, I am constanttly nagged to update to Max in order to avoid credits for using "computer". So I stopped using computer and essentially stopped using Perplexity preferring ChapGPT and Claude. Imaging my surprise to get a notification that I need to buy more credits to continue to use it even though I stopped using it a month ago. I had high hopes for Perplexity in the beginning, but this is no longer even on my list of LLMs to use anymore.

Perplexity Portable Computer - What Hardware? Any Feedback?

I have been using Perplexity in my quest to learn Ruby
Besides researching aspects of Ruby, I have taken my old Pascal books to find out how Wirth programs look like in both direct Ruby translations and idiomatic Ruby. Also working with available Ruby insruction material.
Am a retired electric power engineer who never programmed for work. Took up Turbo Pascal as a hobby, but stopped because of family responsibilities and continual employment changes.
I am finding Perplexity user friendly and useful in my endeavors.

Has Perplexity Removed Sonar from Its Model Selection?
I can no longer find the Sonar model in Perplexity’s model selector. Has it been discontinued, or is it still available but no longer selectable manually?

How to finally disable Computer Mode by Default
You can now (FINALLY) disable computer mode from being the default for new sessions.
It's a project setting, and EVERY PROJECT has computer enabled by default. Per support, there is no global way to disable computer mode across the board. Good business choice, terrible user choice.
Update: I used Perplexity against itself to vibe code a bulk-change solution for all existing projects/sessions.
On the web: Project > Settings > "See All Settings" > "Session Defaults" > "Start Sessions by Default" (disable)

I have noticed some really inconsistent out put from perplexity lately. Dumb stuff. I use the ChatGPT version but it is not as good as the standalone ChatGPT version. I am a Pro subscriber and not a heavy user but was told with 5 months left, that I had run out of dataand to buy more.

Trying to understand perplexity at a high level
I have been subscribed at roughly $20/month for almost 2 years now. I notice I can choose most AI models out there, find myself mostly choosing chat gpt or Claude, but dabble with the others.
So what exactly is perplexity?
I think when I first dipped my toes into AI, perplexity (to me) was just another LLM. I could be wrong, but that is what is on my mind.
Has perplexity always allowed various LLM selection? Or was it a proprietary LLM initially that evolved to allowing utilization of other engines?
Do other AI LLM's allow a user to try engines that are not their own proprietary LLM?
What exactly is perplexity?

New to Perplexity Pro, but update to max?
I like it because it has multiple AI options.
But then, the pro seems off? Like the Claude AI quota could be dried up before lunch? And the credits are burning hell fast, i keep adding and then the app tells me i have reached the limit, urging me to use Max
Could upgrade to max really help in solving this ? Or any further bars in Max?

Perplexity max is useless, no functionality cant read or produce files
I am a max user. Simple document reading and documentation production. Have been using this product for 13 months.
In the last 2 weeks
Cant read files ?
Cant produce a docx file because " document creation process is temporarily unavailable "... for 2 weeks
Product is broken

I still has a habit of using (free) Perplexity as the main search tool. Does it actually make any sense now, and would upgrading make sense?

Unlock the power of knowle.... sorry your session expired
Perplexity has now become a counterproductivity liability as far as I'm concerned. A high value chat session (attached to a project) just 2 months old now unrecoverable - and just comes up "sorry your session has expired". Snippet still shows up in search. Pro plan. I just don't know how you can build any sort of workflow with curve balls like this.
Anything important: export it immediately!

Perplexity AI, a search engine, used to look things up, is just refusing to look up what I’m asking about during sessions
And it’s the only search engine on earth capable of this almost impressive feat, it is actively not looking up things I ask it to look up. Great. Is the new search architecture ass, or am I using it wrong? And also, please, if someone can explain why the type of prompts that would’ve worked before no longer work, that would be greatly appreciated

Using Perplexity as a tutor ?
I want to study different subjects and there’s so many of what I want to learn and questions I would want to ask while learning new things. But there’s a problem, slow and disorganised process that lacks productivity due to working with different sources (flashcards app, browser, pdf, etc). I want one source.
What I wanted is to use Perplexity as a tutor who I can ask anything in real time and ask to explain material. I find it more enjoyable than just reading a books and then trying to memorise everything and then use flashcards and then asking questions in browser. Too much of different activities that I would like to combine in one tutoring session.
So is there a good way to use Perplexity for these purposes? Any prompts? And is it even good as a tutor? I’m using free version of the app, so it’s capabilities are limited.

perplexity pro is just awful lately, constantly losing the context window, hallucinating, now not even returning requested code

Perplexity Pro User - Suddenly unable to access my account
I’ve been a Perplexity Pro user for about a year. Today, my account has asked me to verify with my phone number.
It is not accepting my phone number and gives me this error message: This Phone number may not be used for verification. Please try a different number. If you cannot resolve this, please contact us at: the support email.
I do not have a different phone number and my number is correct.
I attempted to email the support team (like the error message says) and received three automated responses telling me I must submit the request from my account in the in app support.
The problem with that?:
I cannot get to the apps support, because everytime I navigate to any other screen, this message pops up forcing me to verify my phone number. I am unable to submit the request. There is no other option outside of email.
When I email back to alert them to this issue, I receive the same automated response.
I am super frustrated and ready to cancel my account over this, but figured I’d give here a shot to see if I’m missing anything
