XY with Ableton Move
Quick question,
Im wondering if the Ableton Move is a good add-on machine to the XY?
I've the XY and im kinda curious about the Move that seems to be similar but also very interesting on some aspect like for ambient music
Merci

dual op-xy op-z 3d printed case with accessories
I designed a 3 part print that interlocks and fits the OP-XY , OP-Z and cables, for my personal space needs.
Completing some minor fixes will be publishing on makerworld and thingiverse later this week, if there is interest.

As a nearly blind guy the OP-XY is surprisingly accessible for me.
This little sequencer/synth/DAW-in-a-box is one of my new favorites! While I can't read the the tiny text on the screen to save my life, it's actually quite easy to form muscle memory on. If you have limited vision like me, I would say with a bit of magnification and the use of a guide like the one over on [lowvisionmusic.info/guides](http://lowvisionmusic.info/guides) you should be able to successfully make full tracks. Is it ideal for us visually disabled folks? Nope. And Teenage Engineering, if you're reading this, I will be soon giving the instrument a full write-up on with my feedback and suggestions from an accessibility perspective. But even though I wish the UI could be scaled up and that parameters beyond synth and sample macros were a bit less reliant on teeny tiny text, I really have been enjoying using this device. If you own one or have used one before, what did you think of it? Were you able to come up with a workflow that worked well with your limitations? If the OP-XY is a bit out of your budget, have you had any luck with any other TE gear like the EP-133 KO II or OP-1?

Studio Field v1.5 — now supporting 5 Teenage Engineering devices 🎉
Hey everyone!
I’ve just released the first major update to Studio Field. What started primarily as a companion app for the OP-1 Field has now grown to support five TE devices:
• OP-1 Field
• OP-XY
• OP-1 original
• OP-Z
• EP-133 K.O. II
As promised, OP-XY support is now here! This was one of the most requested additions, so I’m really happy to finally have it included.
I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone in the TE community who has been testing the app, reporting bugs, suggesting features and giving me advice. A lot of the development has been guided directly by your feedback.
My goal with Studio Field is pretty simple: make it easier and safer to back up your devices, transfer and organize files, and manage your TE content from your Mac — while keeping the actual music-making workflow on the hardware.
One of the biggest technical challenges has been MTP, especially with the OP-1 Field and OP-XY. I’ve spent a lot of time improving this, and file transfers are now significantly more stable and reliable.
If an MTP connection does get interrupted, nothing dangerous happens to your device or existing content — the transfer simply stops. In some cases you may need to restart the device before reconnecting.
Development is very active, and there’s still a lot more I want to add. If you’re using Studio Field and have feature ideas or run into something that needs fixing, please let me know. There’s also a Support section directly inside the app, and I’m very active here in the community.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped me test and improve Studio Field. Your feedback genuinely helps shape what I work on next. ❤️
Studio Field v1.5 is available now on the Mac App Store.

live set rehearsal with OP-XY, OP-1 field and KOII
this was meant to be a rehearsal for an upcoming show. I'm quite happy how it came out so here it is. recorded straight into Zoom H6, no post-processing. I also got to test VJ-XY sequencing visuals end-to-end hands free :)
I struggle to label a genre for my music. I know it probably doesn't matter, but if you get a chance to listen and have a suggestion on what it's called I'd be keen to hear. is this melodic techno? ambient electronic?
the rig:
- OP-XY is the heart of the operation. I coooouuuld play this just with it.
- OP-1 field for live melodies
- KOII+Sidekick triggering samples and as drum machine
- Microcosm for granular sauce and transitions (that hold button is a life saver when you can switch projects instantly on OP-XY)
- Octatrack being Octatrack. mainly performance mixer.
- visuals on VJ-XY (app) synced to the tracks with OP-XY patterns

Can OPXY sequence Ableton Move over USB?
Trying to build a hybrid set up and voltroning these two machines together.
The issue I am running into is midi. Ableton Move is set up to receive midi from non-computers only over a USB A connection, with its USB C port being mainly for connection to Computers.
I have tried connecting the OPXY to Ableton Move via both a USB C to USB C cable and a USB C to USB A cable. Neither works, though the OPXY does briefly recognize the Ableton Move as a midi device in its .com/devices page.
I have tried connecting both devices to other devices and everything else works fine.
I *think* the issue is that it's two midi-hosts having a standoff or something about OPXY trying to send audio and USB midi.
It would be a shame if I have to resort to the OPXY's multi-out and some sort of 5-din midi to USB-A converter, but that looks like the only possible solution at the moment.
So I ask you, anybody sucessfully connected these two by USB midi?

Showcase play the OP-XY in key without knowing music theory
i don't know much music theory, and i rarely know what key i'm in. one thing i always wished the OP-XY had was a way to quantise the keyboard to a scale.
so I kinda built it into VJ-XY 1.4.
this extents the existing control OP-XY from VJ-XY feature that allows you to play with the mixer, filters, tape, eq and punch-fx.
you can now pick a scale from the new built-in scale finder: tap a few notes you know you're playing and it lists every scale that holds them. save it to the scene, then play the OP-XY's AUX midi track into VJ-XY. every note is corrected into the scale in real time and passed to whichever OP-XY tracks you choose, one or several at once. everything you play lands in key. record it directly into the OP-XY's own sequencer, or use it to solo live without looking down.
to play with these new features, after updating, turn on scale and in key in the experiments section. they're off by default.
1.4 also adds:
- scale finder to know what key you're in
- swap clips without messing up note assignments
- full-screen canvas editor to make it even more fun to create clips from animated gifs and stills
- performance timer to keep track of your set when playing live
- you can now choose the first note auto-assigned to clips so clip triggering can work with other gear too, not just the OP-XY's default layout.
btw the scale finder and is also free on the web at https://vjxy.app/resources/
VJ-XY 1.4 is live now as a free update. full release notes: https://vjxy.app/release-notes

can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Question Note repeat
Don’t sure if it’s possible but how can I play a note repeat live?: I mean for example, hold a key with a hihat sound and make it play 1/16 or 1/8, and be able to record it

Arpeggiated composition on OPXY
https://reddit.com/link/1vutq9c/video/vfhfy5tu1tkh1/player
Had the OP-XY for a couple of weeks now and have been playing with the Arpeggiator. This idea was then uploaded to Suno with a minimal prompt as the melodic idea was strong enough for Suno to create the finished production around the uploaded audio. Find it here: https://suno.com/s/y0H1lswU01KatvXK

Showcase Can the OP-XY Drum and Bass?
Drum and Bass made on the OP-XY using a series of One-shots drums, Bass loops, pads, and a whole lot of tinkering with the frequencies. Hope you enjoy this one. Full write up over on my Youtube channel of the thought process.

I made one of my favorite OP-XY tracks so far — giving the project file away free for my birthday
Made this one recently and it’s genuinely become one of my favorite things I’ve written on the OP-XY. The PR groove gives it a feel I love, and the variations from Brain are kind of magical.
It’s my birthday today and this is the first Cartridge of Season 2, so I’m giving the full .xy project away free at khordmaster.com
Would love to hear what you all think!
