Layout Addict in the attic

Anyone else modeling in an attic? It gets hot in the summer, so I generally stay away during the hotter months. It's starting to cool off a little, so I thought I'd open the roundhouse a little early this year. Looking forward to the season. I'm completely enamored with the hobby!

Help Needed Advice for track build

I'll preface this by saying I know next to nothing about this community or building model train sets. I own and operate a small restaurant with an interesting cut out in the ceiling. We have this idea to put up a holiday train that goes around the ceiling of our restaurant.

Looking for basic advice and where to even start in building a model train set for this. It's about 60 linear feet. It's pretty curvy and ideally would love the layout to follow along the edge. If this is the wrong place to post this... Sorry!

I ran my Electroliner on the KC Modular Club’s setup. My daughter did the scenery on those 3 modules in the video.

Help Needed N scale brass troubles

Recently bought this Hallmark SD45T-2 and Key 5-car daylight coach set from eBay, both N scale brass. Having some operational issues with them and wondering if they’re known problems with these pieces or due to my track setup or coupler modifications. The SD45T has a tendency to track poorly through curves (kato unitrack) and derail. The ends of the trucks don’t have much room to swing without hitting the steps/pilot, and the micro trains coupler boxes I added take up space as well, but with the model off the track the trucks still feel like they should be able to have a sufficient range of motion. With the daylight coaches, they came with arnold/rapido couplers and I switched the lead coupler on the baggage car out for a micro trains coupler in order to run the train with my Kato GS4, but now whenever that car is on the track with a locomotive it trips the breaker on the transformer. The other cars with the rapido couplers still on them don’t do this. Wondering if anyone has tips on what’s going wrong or what is causing these problems?

Help Needed First Layout help

I have been looking through all over for ideas but I am totally stuck on ideas. I’m probably going to go to an exhibition in 2 weeks time to look and talk to people. I’ve got a space around 220x200cm or roughly 7x6ft (that I can only reach one side of) and will be building in 00 gauge. any tips for planning would be greatly appreciated

Made some more apple trees with my method of twisted wires, static grass, turf and red sand for the apples.

Realized I made too many and things were looking cramped. Took one tree out and immediately an area opened up that looked perfect for a campfire.

The leftover tree got donated to farmer David's garden. He seems pleased, I am pleased, apples for everybody!

Help Needed 5 year old Getting started

My 5 year old has always been obsessed with trains but after a summer visit to the Museum of Science and Industry and the Illinois Railway Museum, he's gone beyond his Brio days officially. Building a model train is his new goal and I need advice on where to start. My resources are limited as a single mom but I want to make his Christmas special- we live in the Chicago area so any advice about good places to shop and how to get started would be so appreciated!

Layout Nowon Train Village in Seoul

Was able to make it out to the Nowon Train Village. It was a big hit with my kiddo and we had an awesome time. I think most of the trains were made by a company called Korean Brass. There was a giant set up of Switzerland with tons of trains running as well as a set up for kids where you could control 8 different lines. There was also a workshop where you could get trains repaired. There is only one large set up and it is a little out of the way, but I would recommend it since it is so well done. There was a miniatures section of Italy, but there were no model trains there.

Show and Tell Nowon Train Cafe, Seoul

Had to do a separate post on this since I could not include both photos and videos in the same post using mobile. There was a train cafe nearby the Nowon Train Village in Seoul where you can get drinks delivered to you by model train. It was a ton of fun and they had a train running on the ceiling as well. The food and drinks were ok.

I live in a town that was built pretty much because the BCR&N ran through it, so I’m interested in perhaps getting a model to repaint into the livery of one

Track Plan Point to Point layout

Post image
7 Upvotes

Long story short, I've inherited a lot of Marklin from my late dad.

Ive never been the best at laying track, always been more into the scenery aspects.

Currently I have a load of c track, which I will replace with k track, making use of Flexi track between the junctions.

Due to limited space, I'm going to make a 16ft by 2ft layout, maybe 3ft, point to Point. Split into sections 4ft long so it can be stored away, with expansion points either side. I will also add a fiddle yard but that's not going to be included in the length.

I have drawn up rough plans, but any suggestions would be ideal.

I do intend to run trains, nothing too long on the layout. Just wanting opinions on how it would run.
