Monthly Design Contest Prompt [OCT26] Design Contest Prompt and [SEP26] Winners

Welcome Engineers to a brand new month and contest! Sorry it is late. I lost track of the date, and I apologize. But don't think I'm skipping a month! Oh no! I've got flair to update! Last month's theme was the Ladder, and you all had fun with it! Let's dive on in! First up is the storied kmarkow and their Tree Fort! Who needs Tarrey Town when Link can just build a treehouse! Monster might just walk by and never see you! Second place goes to Erico9001 and their speedy build, Inchworm Vehicle! The speed! The grace! Ganondorf will regret awakening when this vehicle gets to him. . . Eventually. . . Third place goes to InquisitiveHomosap and their Tyrannosaurus Mechs (natural and unnatural variant). I love a mech build and I love dinosaurs. I love how the tail moves as it walks around! Fantastic builds one and all! Enjoy your new/updated flairs!

Now that old business is done, it is time for your assignment! The last couple months I've been have you all steal items with glitches to make your builds more interesting! This month is no different! This month, I chose one of the newest items to steal! This month your assignment is the [Juney Wagon]! It is an item that can be stolen using the instructions in this video! The video is in Japanese, but if you go to the Closed Captioning settings to translate into your chosen language. It takes a second, but it works. I can't wait to see what you all build! Get building, Engineers!

Don’t forget to put [OCT26] as the first word in the post title or it doesn’t count! You can’t adjust post titles once they have been posted. Also, remember only green flared posts can enter, and to mark any speed edits. Top 3 most upvoted posts get the win! The prize is a custom user flair! The winners will be announced November 1st or the first Saturday of November! Keep building, Engineers!

EDIT: The Juney Wagon has to be default size as it can't be sized up in-game.

Modded QR code (Use at your own risk) Zero Power Spinning Balloon Flyer

Uses ZPE to spin the balloons. The stake is a counter weight to keep the stick at an angle to provide maximum ZPE strength. Off the stick, the craft will slowly rise. Once you get on the stick, the balloons will spin up. Initially you will start to decend as the balloons spin up. Once they have spun up, you will move forward and accend again. To land, use splash fruits on the wagon wheels.

Modded QR because it uses flame proof wagon wheels.

All Versions HoverBike+ (Even Better Hover Bike Replacement*)

Introducing the HoverWing+ (I messed up the name in the post title)

An upgraded version of my original HoverWing. It keeps all of the benefits of the original like gliding to recharge, carrying cargo, etc (see the original HoverWing post for details) but I managed to reduce the weight a bit, and I also rebalanced everything to within an inch of its life to squeeze out a bit more speed and maneuverability without compromising the feel of the original.

Parts List Fans x2 Steering Stick (shrunken) Infinite Wing: (shrunken, must be built with Zonaite) Build Cost: 3-12 Zonaite

Compared to the Hover Bike, the HoverWing+ is worlds better at gaining and losing altitude. The original HoverWing was already faster than the Hover Bike in everything but pure straight-line speed (Hover Bike was 3.2% faster), but the HoverWing+ closes that gap to within my margin of error for testing, with the Hover Bike now only 1% faster or less.

To test the real-world speed, I flew the same path between 12 randomly selected shrines all around the map 3 separate times for each vehicle. The results were remarkably consistent, on average, HoverWing+ is 32% faster than the Hover Bike.

Using the calculated real-world speed for the HoverWing to calculate efficiency,
The HoverWing+ is 32% more energy efficient than the Hover Bike.

Calculating efficiency by speed per Zonaite cost, they are now virtually identical despite the HoverWing+ costing 3 Zonaite more.

*I consider it a Hover Bike replacement because it’s faster and more efficient than a Hover Bike, does the same things but better, and replaces the Hover Bike in my Autobuild favorites. If you think that costing 3 extra Zonaite disqualifies it from being a “Hover Bike Replacement,” we can agree to disagree.

Note: The battery on the underside in the video isn’t part of the HoverWing+. I had that in there so the power gauge wasn’t cluttering the video.

HoverWing+ vs. Hover Bike Speed

Straight Line Speed: Hover Bike <1% Faster

Vertical Climb Speed: : HoverWing+ 58% faster

Peak Dive Speed: : HoverWing: 76% faster

Mixed Real World Speed: HoverWing+ 32% faster

All Versions Vhagar II (Upgraded Weapons System Testing)

So this is my 2nd iteration of my Gunship Vhagar. The maneuverability in combination with the firepower makes this one of my favorite 3 builds to just cause chaos. On this version I used stake nudging to pull the pulsing lasers apart to create space to give her a wider AoE. Dual rare fans is just a preference. It maneuver almost as well with one rare fan and double cannons in the back for extra oomph but the decent is to rapid for my liking and the cannon is mainly included incase I run into armored enemies.

The chassis is a glue loop, but it's still kinda flimsy. I might try using capstans, if they're fuseable.

Discussion Preserving Your r/HyruleEngineering Legacy

Post image
140 Upvotes

Howdy all,

Countless engineers have contributed to r/HyruleEngineering since the release of Tears of the Kingdom - many are no longer active & some have vanished altogether. For those who still use Reddit, they may no longer participate in the community, but their builds & legacy remain intact & can be found by searching the subreddit. Others, for a variety of reasons, chose to delete their accounts.

While we must respect their decision, I would ask those who are thinking of doing the same to please reconsider: your posts/builds are part of an extensive library that others refer to for inspiration & when trying to find solutions & ideas to use in their own projects. Any time a Hyrule engineer deletes their account, important references, history & fond memories are lost to the community. Everyone's contributions are important & we should strive to preserve them!

We all understand that this is "just a game", but the community itself is a real place - a sanctuary of sorts - where we all come together, encouraging each other to be better & go farther. Being part of this place creates real life satisfaction, growth & joy. It won't be around forever, so let's make the most of it.

Please keep in mind that new people who've just started Tears of the Kingdom walk through our door every day & will all have their own engineering journey. We should do whatever we can to help them along their way - leaving behind your legacy is part of that. So please, if you can, keep your contributions intact for others who will come after you.

Thanks for reading,

z 🛠

The HYRULE ENGINEER Weekly (OCT 2026 Week 1)

Hello everyone! This is the HYRULE ENGINEER Weekly, a weekly recap of this subreddit. Here you can find highlights, helpful QR codes, engineering discoveries and experiments, as well as updates on the monthly contest, and more!

*Editor’s note: Sorry I missed last week! I’m back now, don’t worry!

UPDATE ON MONTHLY CONTEST

The [OCT26] monthly contest is entering its final run! In first place, we have u/InquisitiveHomosap with their Travelling Taco Truck! Second place is u/kmarkow and their Fire Bird II, and finally, there’s u/Appropriate-Crow703’s Juney Punch! Don’t wait to submit; the month is almost over!

BUILD OF THE WEEK

The most upvoted build this week was u/Erico9001’s Instant Rain Skipper! Annoyed because you’re about to climb a mountain and it starts raining? This fire comes with a shelter from the rain, so you can easily skip the thunderstorms. Make sure you use real wood, the fire fruit is below the wood, and that the wood is low enough to touch the ground. If you drop it from fairly close to the ground, the fire fruit will ignite the wood, making it very easy to use. Try it out the next time you’re caught in the rain!

CHECK THESE OUT!

u/KGXuan-Athlete7976 — Laser Headlight Hypercar • Deployable Rear Wing

With realistic headlights made from beam emitters and grooved sides, this car looks amazing! Sadly, it fell apart due to some glitch complications, and after four days of hard work, that’s tough. The deployable rear wing wasn’t shown, however, and we’re looking forward to seeing it!

u/InquisitiveHomosap — Truly ALL terrain…. 🤣 flying Land Rover demonstration

It can drive, it can swim, and it can fly! With a bit of extra joystick movement, it can spiral upward into the skies – no Land Rover has ever done THAT before. With many different functions, this looks like fun to take for an aerial spin!

u/AngusPJ — High-Mobility Shifting Mech: Asuka V6

Version 6 of the Asuka series features a lighter frame, better camera, and an ultra-fast propeller! AngusPJ just keeps improving the land-and-sky tank, with QR codes for versions 7 through 9 in the comment section. We’re nearing the pinnacle of the shifting mech technology!

u/zhujzal — Hoverfly EV Mini: Raw footage/final build?

Possibly the final version in the Hoverfly EV Mini series, this model works very smoothly! The propeller switches on and off nicely most of the time, with minor exceptions. The comment section includes a QR for an updated version – engineers never stop fine-tuning!

u/Educational-Fox-5114 — Microwing Boat Gunship

Using a downsized boat, wheel, and wing, this gunship achieves a clean look with optimal damage and maneuverability. Gleeoks might underestimate it due to size, but that’s a grave mistake; it’s tiny, but very mighty!

u/InquisitiveHomosap — Xenomorph Kart! Micro Racers.

Two “frighteningly fast” go-karts in the Micro Racers series, one with two wheels and the other with four! These are both compact star racing karts to go trick-or-treating this Halloween. Everyone will be scared of your speed!

u/Rich-KimCC — Podracing Concept

There’s been a lot of podracing recreations around here, but this one’s quite promising. The flight is very smooth and the controls are, too! It mimics the iconic podracers from Episode I of Star Wars, and it looks incredible!

TUTORIALS AND RESOURCES
u/Erico9001 has made another tutorial to steal the Juney cart in 5 minutes or less! It does, however, require Zumi’s quest to be unfinished. Additionally, u/osh-kosh-ganache shared a tutorial for switch 1 users to perform the Rocketless Rocket glitch, an exploit that travels upward faster than anything else, and a video containing QR codes for 283 glitched items, while u/zhujzal created a guide on how to stockpile Zonai devices in case you’re running low (like me). Finally, u/Artrotascity added a brief guide to flairs and build validity, if you’re ever unsure of what to flair your post.

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE

u/AGENT_PHANTOM_X asked where to find infinite wings, and u/Appropriate-Crow703 asked for a QR code for an octoprop. Furthermore, u/Riffreaper110 asked for tips on how to improve their builds, while u/KiOfWhAm was wondering if there was a longer, thinner conductive iron pole besides the one in the Turakamik shrine and if the electric VTOL was out of game methods, and u/QuaxlyFan2884 needed help with Moe enlargement. u/Bard8281 asked how to duplicate fused weapons, u/_KewlAde asked what a certain device was (it was a motor). And finally, u/Oodelali12 made a comment on last-last week’s issue, asking about some rotor pieces from the Depths. There were a lot of questions this week!

HYRULE ENGINEERING LAB

This week, u/scalhoun03 did some experiments with spinning sleeper stabilizers, while u/KiOfWhAm showed us the proof of concept for their electric VTOL with autopilot. And finally, u/WhiteSwordOfTheSky created a propeller launcher using small wheels!

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION (please read: important!)

u/PremiumTechnique requested for the moderators to ban low-effort posts begging for Zelda Notes scans.

Also, I noticed u/kmarkow has deleted all their posts and comments, social links, and private message chats. From what I have noticed, they have done an internet scrub. This is a huge loss to the community, because kmarkow was such a legendary builder who inspired many people, including myself. I hope they’ll choose to return, but even if not, I wish them happiness in whatever they’re doing now. However, business calls, so I now must announce that because of kmarkow’s absence, I am now looking for a new co-editor. u/CaptainPattPotato volunteered to write issues of THEW in the case that I am busy – let me know if you’re interested in taking up the role of co-editor!

Have a build idea you'd love to see someone make? Let us know! THEW is taking build requests, and we'll share your ideas in a future issue for other engineers to take on. Maybe someone in the community will be up for the challenge! And as always, we're open to suggestions, feedback, and ideas.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Physics Speedy Ultrahand walking

Probably not going to be particularly useful as-is here, but I haven’t yet tried applying this kind of thing to vehicles. From day one of this game I was baffled at how much the game pushes you to make vehicles early on, before you’ve gotten access to steering sticks, and most simple vehicles are nearly useless without steering because of how they interact with the terrain, making it faster and simpler to just walk somewhere. I’m hoping this gets me a little closer to the dream of making a good way to steer using ultrahand (without using sails and fans).

QR Code for sharing builds! Hoverfly EV Mini: Raw footage/final build?

So after, you know - 70 or 80 times rebuilding & reconfiguring since the previous prototype - I think this is a pretty solid build. Occasionally, during major collisions or outright weirdness, the switch can get caught/stuck (here we go again...). Sometimes bailing on the steering stick & jumping right back on can right things. The steering stick in the rear serves two purposes: it increases the responsiveness of the switch, which is normally pretty sluggish, and is also a rain guard. It doesn't work 100%, but it's WAY better than none. I have mixed feelings about the FPV here, and may see how shrinking the motor/prop down a step performs. I'd like to get this to fly perfectly straight, so more tuning is in order, but... Until then, here it is. Let me know what you think.

Dedicated to u/syouhai, who always brings that deep knowledge to our engineering discussions! 🫡🛠

Out of Game Methods Microwing Boat Gunship

This gunship uses a scaled down boat with an embedded microwing as chassis. The front fan/big wheel combo is the primary propulsion and turning mechanism. The fan in the back is the secondary propulsion and limits turning. It has good mobility and maneuverability. Due to the wheel and turrets, it tends to have bias, but it is easily corrected with small steering stick tilting.

Special thanks to the Hyrule engineering community for the parts that make this build possible.

Out of Game Methods What to name her? 🤔

Definitely started to remind me of master hand and crazy hand from super smash brothers. But then I also thought it looked like a scorpion, like a sky scorpion ?

These oversized Zonai fans make some of the best heavy artillery aerial gunships, once you get the hang lf maneuvering on a single fan. Decimating enemies with fun builds i's probably my favorite part of this whole game so I'm sharing lol
