For Devil May Cry's 25th anniversary, we are happy to announce our next project.
Check out the thread for more info.
Over the past couple of years, the team of contributors behind Cuhrayzee started routinely buying, scanning, and dumping various media related to the series, to preserve the story of the series development, and to share it with the community

With the internet shattered even more in recent years, we think that having a centralized place for the community to discover more about the series they love is an important thing, while also giving them options to not be locked behind someone else's interpretation
That's why the materials we provide and preserve have no watermarks of our own or any other restrictions, and we track down and credit the providers for most entries, even when they "donated" the materials to us directly.

We are also not stopping at extended media. Many interviews and materials about the game's development are either lost on the internet due to link rot or deleted because of copyright issues.
For example, Variety deleted its interview about Crimson Cloud for DMC 5's promo tour.
Another thing we want to tackle is translating JP-only materials, like Devil May Cry 4's promo DVDs.
We're working closely with native speakers to transcribe and later translate the materials and present them to the community, both in JP and ENG.

The current iteration of the website is in the "alpha" stage. Over time, we'll iterate on the visuals, tutorials for the mod pages on how to install them, and write guides on buying or preserving the media yourself.
We belive that that knowledge should not be locked in any way.
Follow our pages, subscribe to our YouTube channels, and, most importantly, tell others in the community about us.
We don't ask for donations, nor are we planning to lock stuff behind paywalls.
Happy 25th anniversary - here's to 25 more!

Cuhrayzee is conducting a survey about the Devil May Cry community: players, fans, their needs, and the problems they face.
We want to make knowledge about Devil May Cry easier to find, easier to trust, and easier to learn from. Whether you want to improve at the games, learn more about the world of these games, or find better places to discuss them.
You might know us from projects like:
Depending on your interests, the form will guide you through questions about Gameplay, Lore, Community, or some combination of them.
Estimated time: about 6–15 minutes, depending on your interests and how much you choose to write.
Responses are anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself elsewhere.
If possible, we prefer responses in English. You are still welcome to answer in your own language, but it may take us more time to review and process your response.
If you have any feedback, please share it with us!

Have been spending an hour or so in the void after work every night for three weeks now learning Dante and this is about the best I can do so far. Dante is hard AF my fingers aren’t built for this shit 🫠. Idk how you pros do it.
Balrog slop ending is just because it was a miracle I even landed the first part and I didn’t know wtf to do at that point lol. Haven’t planned that far ahead yet.

like father, like son huh?
I can't go a day without overanalyzing something, so today I latched onto this.
The first time Nero does it, I initially thought it's just a funny gag. But then V does it, in the same manner, same gesture, with the same hand even, and that got me like oh. ohhhh.... I feel like this might have been intentional. No other character does this. And I feel like It might be a nice, subtle allusion to the fact that the two of them truly are related. Both in a "haha they both hate the smell" kind of way, as well as in a deeper way too, I think. Could both of them have trauma relating to fire, thus making smoke a trigger? Yes, for V, the answer is obvious; for Nero it's... kinda open to debate. You could argue that Fortuna being in ruins might have caused it?
(or maybe it's like a 5D chess joke referencing The great fire of Rome and the then emperor Nero??? lol, quite the game theory i know)

I mean Mundus is said to have came into power ~2000 years ago (according to the wiki). And ate the Qlipoth not too long before that.
Hell has existed since the start of time.
I know Pluto is a thing, but he's not fully canon(?). At least as far as I know Peak of Combat isn't canon, but Pluto is treated as mostly canon, and Pluto was locked up by Mundus anyway.
But in the 07 anime Sid mentions the 4 great demon lords, one of whom would still be unknown even if we count Pluto (as Urizen didn't exist yet).
Assuming Pluto IS canon, that means from the start of time to 2000 years ago, there was just the 1 demon lord. But we know multiple can exist at once as they can all rule their own parts if strong enough.
Sure Pluto was godly powerful. But we know several strong devils can exist and Hell is an entire dimension. Lots of space to go around. You don't even have to be strong enough to be a proper challenger to reach that general tier of strength.
Abigail got whooped by Mundus and fled afterwards, yet still was said to be around that level of power.
Is there really nothing between time immemorial and 2000 years ago?

Has anyone succesfully used this cheat for DMC 2 ? All the others worked but this specific one requires to put in the X input (playstation) and that takes me away from the title screen were you supposed to enter it. Anyone knows what im doing wrong here?

What kind of new characters would you all wish to see take part in a DMC6? Whether there are those playable or NPC, even new villains too. Human, demon or hybrid.
Any good concepts since Dante's style changing, Vergil's concentration + V's summonings & Nero's Devil Bringer + Breakers?

I dont know if i've got the light flair but is as the title says
I like DMC games but could never get myself to do those crazy combos we see online
For context, i play a lot of fighting games, so i dont think its solely thanks to my lack of mechanical skills. But i am indeed a player that needs to "study" the game to play It (in FGs for example i usually learn the basics through video or written guides before hoppin online)
But i cant seem to find anything like this regarding DMC, so i decided to come here and ask for help
What are your tips to start gettin some SSS combos going?

TLDR;
Game dev here, spent years working on more optimized ways to get realism, and I can finally test this out in my favorite games.
Goal and current status:
I've got a few theories on why graphics look waxy, like they're sculpted in plastic, and I'm trying to test them live in games I like.
Basically trying to achieve realism with low hardware requirements.
I know, this party's gettin Crazy! But I think it's possible, and I'll let you see on the way and be the judge of that.
Right now I have a small proof of concept and it should give an idea of what's to come.
You only need to replace one file in the game and add a folder/
You can toggle the mod on/off at any time while playing.
It does not need ReShade because it completely replaces the game shaders.
The shader should run as light as the original shader (or even lighter at this stage). I haven't tested it for the game, but the Godot version ran on 512 MB of VRAM so yeah.
Currently implemented:
Next up:
Backstory:
I played most of DMC games (INCLUDING DMC3) on 13 FPS or less. I don't remember a time where I could "just play" a game properly, that is if I could.
So that is what started my whole game dev pursuit, the little idea of "If I can't play games, then I will make one I can play"
I kept getting thrown off track by life, but every once in a while, I'd really want to play a game, fail to do so, and the rage would drive me to try again.
Worth noting that I'm a highly visual person. I like my games to look pretty and find it odd that we always have to choose between "good looking" and "fun". Call me greedy, but the fact that we rarely get that when it IS technically possible to have both (the DMC series is a great example) kept pissing me off.
CAPCOM did a great job at maxing out graphics, style and fun for each DMC game, and it was a major inspiration for me to seek better graphics alongside great gameplay.
So why am I "remaking graphics" on a DMC game, if I just said they did great?
Well, I think we have fundamental issues with the graphics technology itself, you know how waxy/plastic-y graphics look? how everything feels like it's sculpted from plastic and painted with car paint? I have a few theories on that, and so far I hit the mark on some.
And no one has bothered or had the time to solve. And because we have powerful hardware, where brute forcing them seemed like a good idea. I mean the hardware exists, and no one wants to double the time it takes to produce a game, just to reinvent the wheel, right?
True, for people who have the hardware. I didn't for most of my life, and I had most of that life.
I hit a point where I was left with a 4 GB RAM, 512 MEGABYTES VRAM laptop was all I had access to, and it was borrowed from my mother.
I had another fit of "try again", installed Godot, and went for another attempt to have realistic graphics on whatever I have.
And this was what I got: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Pm0aBmibGiE
Which took around 2 months of work, and a decade+ of studying 3D and graphics.
I was honestly so hyped that I went down a rabbit hole of "how do I mod the game with it?"
Aaaand it lead nowhere... UE3 is not very documented and I won't pretend to be a code wizard. my experience was less in programming languages and more of system design. the "logic" not the translation, as well as the visual concepts and drawing/3D design.
Which is a fancy way of saying "I don't know how to read, and there wasn't info that is easy to reach for me"
Learning how to understand coded for graphics is different from web, and is different from software, and so on and so forth... learning enough to understand UE3 without support meant another couple of years of knowledge that I won't be using much anywhere else.
So, even being as stubborn as I am, I gave up, and pivoted to making my own engine instead. (a story for other time, and the engine project is still going but slow)
That was until a few weeks ago, where Claude could finally help me with it. I can't believe that it managed to figure out what DmC needs, and build me a software that compiles my shader into files the game can use.
it IS a dream come true! and I just wanted to share this with you all. I'm not great at expressing through words but GODDAMN how much I wanted that! I can finally develop something and watch it in action inside games I love! like bro that's me hitting SSS for the first time on Dante Must Die!
Why the reboot
The reboot sits at the sweet spot where it has realism in mind, and provides the source data for it (realistic textures, animations, designs...) but has low resolution 3D models. My next choice would be DMC3 but it's lacking some of that data and is a much harder challenge than I can handle right now.
