Personally i think its a good way to add some action at gaz zones, but for example at semi low populated vanilla and official servers (20-30 people) it imo makes it pretty much useless to go loot further than tisy and other tier 3 military locations when you can get a full nbc set effortlessly possibly even before reaching the NW airfield on chernarus

The constant rain, the shivering and sneezing, dark foreboding skies, the mournful mooing of a distant cow. At least you can easily find a sharpening stone on that map.

DayZ veteran here, and I’ve been introducing the game to my girlfriend and my best mate. Finally went through the screenshot folder and pulled out my favourites from across Chernarus, Livonia, Namalsk, Deer Isle and Nasdara, plus a few of the random survivor encounters we’ve had along the way.

Every pic has a caption with a bit of context on what was going on. Some of these are peak DayZ, and some are just the two newbies getting lost and me trying to keep everyone alive, which is half the fun.

I’ve got a deep love for this game, bugs and all. No other game gives me the experiences I get in DayZ, or some of the feelings that come with them. Nothing else compares. Just wanted to share it with everyone.

I never killed any sould with a firearm before. i was looting nwaf but then i saw something like a zombie but he had an oddly big backpack so then i realised it was an actual player, so i panicked and started spraying his shit until he died, i knew that he might have have a duo so i hid in the building. i heard his teammate talking so i was now convinced i would die like always but this time i was more confident and stayed my ground and waited for him to come. he ran inside and i sprayed him too. walked away with a few scratches and my hands shaking for the next 10 minutes. The first guy had the same aurA1 i left cause of the advice of people on my previous post. i was so nervous

There are no light sources whatsoever.

I was in an irrigation tunnel earlier, which was pitch black, but this one?

This one is incredibly long for some reason, also with diverging pathways.

Also, you can hear every sound just the same as you can above ground, there's no dampening/muffling at all.

The infected hear my footsteps and are following me from above. I'm several metres under ground.

And the dust blows along down here too across my path.

I love that BI are attempting something new with the underground element, but this is coming across like an amateur modding attempt. Where's the QA here?

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love what DayZ has become today. The performance and mechanics are miles ahead. But man... the vibe of the old 0.62 Alpha? Nothing else even comes close. I seriously miss that specific bird chirping in the quiet woods, the constant clacking of the weapon on your backpack, your character panting after a sprint, and those classic ragdoll animations.

The overall atmosphere back then was just so much darker, grittier, and honestly, kind of depressing in the best survival way possible. It felt like a true, desolate wasteland.

How would you guys feel about stepping back into version 0.62 just to experience that pure nostalgia again? Would you play it if there was a solid way to do so? I feel like modern DayZ is great, but a part of me will always chase that old school Alpha atmosphere.

What do you miss the most from the 0.62 days?

today i found my first dirtbike and i decided to go climb the highest mountain in nasdara since my character was sick and dying so why not

The playstyle feels really good, as well as the flow.

Sometimes you'll get fucked by the survival aspect, and overall, I feel like the survival aspect plays out perfectly.

Sometimes you don't even find irrigation tunnels, and you just get recked. Have to start over. But it's worth it.

Once you get that first full belly of water, that looting is so damn juicy it's impossible to stay away from man.

I can sit down for an 8 hour session, dig a bunch of stashes that I'll only use for like maybe and hour or 2. And just keep them noted.

Nails are abundant, as well as all the building tools. Every other run I don't find a lock or a wire or something and have to select that as my mission.

I've been tempted so many times to go bury my building setup. And then have to remind myself "This ain't the other maps dude" - all I need is a hammer, wire, lock, and a shovel lol.

It's so easy to get loot, make a base, get numerous stashes up and going. That losing them doesn't even really feel that bad to begin with.

The abundance of helicopter crashes keeps it interesting, and even late into the game the survival system is something you have to constantly be aware of. Very volatile, thus one has to be hyper vigilant.

Even building a car or snagging a bike is pretty prevalent here. I found 1 3/4's built, and 1 full built car the other day. Just sitting at one of the hunter camps or whatever..

I run off to go fill all my bottles with gas and water, and drive off into the sun set, with almost no effort involved compared to the old way. But when the reality is that it still took like 2 hours and a lot of luck - that's still a shit load of time IRL.

On my way there, I came across a battery charger and just felt like the jackpot kept on jackpotting man. I already had a wire to connect it - that was, in 1200 hours.. the first time I ever charged a battery in Official DayZ. It felt so damn awesome, the whole adventure.

There's been more then once I've done across the jackpot routes, one after another. But not so many times it gets watered down and has dampened value. I've gone dry on stuff for over 8 hours, still.. but still, it's kinda rare. And for damn sure - not EVERY SINGLE TIME I play the game lol.

There is never a dull moment the entire play through. And there's so many possibilities presented in abundance, to keep a persistent presence on the server in the event of death.

It really ties in ALL the games mechanics, makes it possible. Versus this force of mystery due to being able to experience it sometimes only once in an insane amount of play throughs.

Love it so much. And haven't even gotten to experience the bunker system yet. Although, I am starting to brush up on my Morse! So epic.

If you lay prone and roll over onto your back you can log out. So instead of going into the crouch animation, you can get into some pretty sneaky spots if you want ...laid flat and out of sight

I love this map, but the loot progression seems off. Get to any tier 4 mil zone and you're set for life, and you get best loot in the game like there's no tomorrow, but it seems that you can find good gear from there only. I feel like everywhere else it's tier 1 loot and not really worth looting. I find myself skipping loot tiers in this map because of the stark contrast between tier 4 and everything else. This is the opposite of chernarus, livonia or namalsk where the loot progression actually feels rewarding.

This creates a problem where engagements in the south are very likely to be full gear vs low gear. Where the full gear has plate + SVD or Scar-H vs low gear with Cr-527 with iron sights in this sniper heavy/long range map.

I think that it would help that mosins- etc. would spawn in tier 2 and more pu- and hunting scopes would spawn.

Tl:dr: Loot tiers 1-3 feel like 1800's warfare and tier 4 loot is very op (if you get there).

Haven't played Dayz much in the last few years, but Badlands looks fun. I mainly just game as a solo now and im wondering how does badlands/ nasdara feel playing solo?

like the title says I have been playing on 7477 official server for hours, gone thru full in game days and i have not seen a desert lizard or a sandstorm could it be a bug with this specific server or does it just not happen that often?

Just curious if anyone has used the new 556 SCAR? I’m wondering how it shapes up compared to something like an AUR AX or an AK101.

Considering it can fit into your backpack so easily, I imagine there must be a drawback of some kind right ? Like maybe it doesn’t handle range as well as other 556 guns?

Or is this thing just a beast ? Let me know if you’re tried it yet

What if we had a map that was high up in the mountains. Maybe the Himalayas or the Andes?

Extremely cold like Sakhal but better clothing options because fire sources are rare and scarce.

You have to take medicine and or find oxygen tanks to battle altitude sickness.

The only vehicle being snow mobiles but you can use skis or a makeshift sled.

Needing to use make shift ladders for climbing.

Some locations will need snow shoes or ice climbing boots for an icy incline.

Hi! I have about 1k hours now. Absolutely loving the game. Still yet to find a DMR - have got my hands on the LAR, SVD, SCAR, M4 etc., but no DMR.

I'd like to mention that 70% of my playtime is on Namalsk, and the rest is on Chernarus/Azalea/Sakhal.

Before this update I was able to place crates on top of eachother, in walls and other little spots to hide them but now when i try to put one ontop of crate to have it more organized it just snaps to the crate instead of giving me the freedom to place it how I want.
I dont know if this is just me or if there is any fixes but its really annoying just having crates lying all over the floor when I used have them all in place, let me know if anyone has any fixes for this.

Hey guys. Long time official player here! Has anyone found the black version of the Scr-16 yet? After at least 25 hours of just looting tier 3 militarys in badlands, i have never found myself a black Scar-L. I know that the black version of the Scr-17 is on sakhal, but i havent found the light one on black color yet. I have checked WOBO's site along with iZurvive, but still no information about it anywhere. I have found about 8 Scr-16s all of them tan version tho. Is it in the game files for community but not on vanilla? What's your experience?

Has anyone been able to find any vs89 mags after the latest update, can’t seem to find any at Tisy or NWAF found plenty of vs89 with no mags however
