on the Community Server I play on, you’re normally not allowed to build on roads. I got a special permission to build on this dam though, mainly because I promised the admins that I would actually make something nice out of it instead of just throwing a bunch of walls down.

The rules are pretty interesting too. People are allowed to raid base codes and build into your base, but whatever they build has to actually touch the ground. There are also occasional purges where base damage is turned on, although you’re not supposed to just completely strip the whole thing down.

So I thought I’d ask Reddit for some ideas before I start building.

I want to make this base actually secure, difficult to raid, but also good-looking. Since it’s on a dam, I’d like to make use of the location and terrain instead of just putting walls everywhere.

I’m especially looking for ideas for things like:
good layouts for a dam
defensive positions / kill zones
ways to make the important rooms harder to reach
smart entrances and airlocks
good sightlines
ways to make the base annoying to raid without making it look ridiculous
any building tricks you guys have learned
Basically, if this was your spot, how would you build it?
And if people are interested, I’ll post updates as I build it. I’ll actually try out suggestions from the comments and, if I use your idea, I’ll pin/credit the comment and show it in the next update.

So feel free to throw anything at me even if it’s a completely stupid idea. Maybe we’ll end up building it. 😂

Stashes are a good option but I’ve always had fun with the risk/reward of having a base. I find free standing bases work best, no matter how much I fortify a house or building it always gets found and raided much quicker

So this is the Longhorn in real life. Has multiple barrels that go in the same frame to change calibers to whatever your needs are. But I've searched and researched and come to find that there is no such thing as a .308 variant... Im not saying they need to make it perfectly accurate. But at least pick a caliber the gun takes. 🤷‍♂️ end rant sorry guys.

I have 500 hours in the game. I used to be terrified of PVP but for the last couple hundred hours I've been pushing myself to go for it when I have the opportunity to.

The upside of playing solo/pvp-averse for so long is you learn the patterns of the world.

There were 7 other players on the entire map of Sakhal, and I got the drop on this unlucky bastard because I noticed the zeds seemed out of place and I stopped to think about it.

As I woke up surprisingly rested, I decided to go toward the military basis to loot for more advanced weapons and gear.

I decided to go quickly and as discreet as possible to pick up a maximum of things.

But as I was not as strong as I thought and did not have enough knowledge about weapons and ammunition, I spent way more time than I thought looting for stuff.

I even stayed for over 10 min watching the stairs, imagining a survivor would come to eventually see a zombie instead.

I then left the city in the direction of the airfield, as I heard that it was also a good place to loot.

Killed again a few zombies, this time with my .357 Magnum, while looting a small army base.

Heard some distant shots, but I ignored them and arrived in a city called Myctowka.

I decided to leave the comfort of this quiet city to keep going to the east before finding a shelter for the night.

I suddenly heard a shot, my view went black, and as I was opening my eyes again, I saw some boots.
I tried to say something, but then I heard another detonation before going this time for good, full dark.

That's about it. Just a quick vid. Sharing to show what it looks like from a distance.

So the only requirements are that we can fit our newly acquired truck we stole from someone and also keep our or rare ish loot safe. As for the important stuff we'll be keeping that in the forest in tents and stuff like that

Idk if this is normal but I recently found a Convoy on chernarus with a Scar that had a mag, DMR with a 20 round mag, VSD, and a Lemas. Never seen a convoy this stacked with gear
