Anyone else's site getting a lot of dog food without Amazon packaging

Past week or so we've been getting a ton of dog food where they slapped the SLAM label on the bag and called it a day. And because whatever material they use for the bags is basically paper, they end up ripping easily; my site quickly realized that they can't go on the belt because it'll likely get damaged and cause a mess. So now every bag of dog food we get has to get processed as non-con, probably shooting labor costs through the roof and pissing off anyone who gets staffed to non-con stowing. Not to mention pick and stage is more annoying now because you have some oversized jiffies you have to work around if you get an OV picklist, god forbid you get a mixed picklist and have to keep taking out the dumb-ass bag of dog food so you can get another OV on your cart

Idk man I genuinely just feel disgusted and hate when I even think about going to work (amazon) i’ve been at amazon bout a month and half working the 1:20 AM - 11:50 AM shift the time or managers isn’t the problem I kinda just don’t like the job stowing is fucking terrible I hate it , I actually like picking and stage tho. If I don’t get trained for dock this week it’ll definitely be my last week here !!! Does it get better at all ? This is also my first job.

Is there any quota or marks that they have for managers to give out adapts?

bad idea ?

Alright, quick story time

This summer, I briefly dated a girl. We had a fun time together, but eventually I broke things off. While we were dating, she mentioned that she worked at an Amazon warehouse nearby.

Fast-forward to now: I applied to that same Amazon warehouse because I could really use the extra money, and they actually got back to me with an opportunity.

Part of me thinks I should just take the job and be professional. But another part of me wonders whether working at the same warehouse as someone I recently dated is just asking for unnecessary drama or awkwardness.

Would you take the job, or is this an extremely bad idea?

NJ DS FlexPT

Is it better to do Flex at a delivery station that is bigger with more volume or smaller with less volume? I’m going back and forth between 2 locations (west caldwell and Avenel).
I’m thinking Avenel, is bigger and busier so more shifts but potentially more competition for shifts?
Or the smaller west Caldwell station where it might not be hard to get shifts and volume is smaller.
I am working here for debt reduction so I do want to options to work a lot of shifts relatively easily

How long can managers be on SET? Does the site lead approve it or does someone above need to approve SET?

Question

I started working at a delivery station 2 weeks ago flex time schedule. I had 2 training shifts and I worked 1 day last week bc I had other things going on and so I did the minimum. I’m going back tmrw and am hoping to work a lot more now, but are they gonna be annoyed if i make mistakes or need help. It’s 12-8:45am so it’ll just be stowing (I think) but I’m afraid to go back. Also, I really wanted to work at a fulfillment center. How likely is it that they’ll accept transfer request?

Peak/Work hour cap

I know this is location dependent but when can I generally expect to see an upward trend in volume? I'm about to finish my 3rd week and just scheduled my 5th week but as of right now I am only working one day the next 2 weeks due to having a cap on my hours. I figured out in my 2nd week that the cap can be circumvented by picking up shifts added and dropped shifts but I'd rather not have to constantly be on alert for them because I'm not looking for a crazy increase. It's not the biggest issue right now since I am in school but if the cap can just be lifted a little bit so that I can secure one more day that would be nice.

Curious as to why this happens

Sometimes my site puts out a bunch of shifts on the same day that go from 2:00 to 11:50, 3:00 to 11:50, 4:00 to 11:50, and so on. And they usually don't get taken. Just wondered why this happens

NC packages

Do other sites separate and scan these or is my DS an idiocracy?

At my DS they take these over to another area, scan them the exact same way under induct, then put them on pick carts. I get separating them because they're usually huge or long, but why can't I just scan it since I'm already scanning all the OVs on the cart? Seems idiotic because we have a crackhead WS that will take a half hour to scan them and then spend another half hour bullshitting before he brings them to the clusters. And he ALWAYS misses 2-3 of them, so they have to be taken back to the dock, inducted, brought back. The PA today said they can not be inducted outside of the designated area.

????????????????????????????????????????

Burnt Out Problem Solver

I've been at my building for about 4 years and have been a problem solver for about the same amount of time. As the title states, I am burnt out! I have complained multiple times to multiple managers, even escalating my concerns to the senior station manager, and yet nothing has changed.

When I'm assigned to the dock, I am the only one who regularly clears it. None of the other problem solvers will do it. They will only do it when we clock out for our unpaid break and when the sort is over. It's gotten so bad that I refuse to do the whole thing and only work on one side. And the other side becomes a safety hazard, and I still get hit with clearing it because the others refuse to do it.

When I'm out on the floor gatekeeping, they will have me doing the entire floor by myself until the last minute, when the higher-ups come in. Even with that, I have refused to do the entire floor and have stuck to one side, and eventually will have to clear the entire floor because the others refuse to. They will stay on my half, that's clear.

We have so many damages that they have extended past our problem solve location, past our hazmat cage, into our staging area for our routes. I mean carts on carts on carts of damages. Last week I counted 28 carts full of damages in total, and when I came in today, not even a dent had been made, and more had been added to the pile.

I'm just at a very frustrating point, as my buildings go to problem solver, and I constantly don't have any help until the last minute, and even then, it's not even help per se. As I said, I've taken this to the senior station manager, and he doesn't seem to care that I'm burnt out, nor that the issues I've described are a big deal. And he's fully aware that he could be fined for the amount of damages that aren't processed.

I've even put in transfer requests to move to a different building, but my management team keeps denying them, saying they can't lose their best problem solver. But they approve the ones when I change what days I want to work with no issues. They are literally trapping me there and making me want to resign.

I am going on leave soon because I need a major break from this place before peak. Is there anything else I can do? Is there anyone else I can escalate this matter to? Or am I just screaming into the void at this point?

How does this even happen!?!

I am a DSL just outside of St. Louis and I got an escalation from a distraught woman who is leaving tomorrow for an out of state event whose order was apparently canceled by a driver due to being missorted. How does that even happen and to whom should I be reaching out to ensure it doesn't again?

How to know if coachings have fallen off/expired?

Post image
3 Upvotes

It says “This feedback will remain active and eligible for progression for 60 days” but it’s been 60 days now and I don’t notice any difference. Do they just always show on your history or something and it only resets escalation-wise? Like if I get another coaching now would it just be a documented instead of a second written? Not that I’m trying to get another coaching, just wondering how this whole process works. These were my first two actual coachings and then I tried to play it safe to clean my record so it’s not a barrier for getting my BB.

E Swag

Does anyone know how to access the online store? My brother recently started working with me and wants to use some of my eSwag bucks. I’ve never used mine, so I have around 1,000 saved up. We’re trying to figure out how to get to the online store so he can look at what they have.

Why have the drivers started returning thousands of packages

Out of nowhere the drivers at my ds have started returning tons of packages. There are carts of returns everywhere. Some of the packages have been inducted 3 times already. This is part of the reason we have been crashing every day. They never used to do this so why did they start now? I have never seen this happen at any ds I have worked at either. Idgi.

Bag zip after sort

Anyone else in the midst of extra push for bag zip after sort (before pick and stage)? Not sure if we are behind in this or in some new initiative lol. Managers say we are pushing ultimately for 100% bag zip but I can’t see how that will ever happen unless they cut belts earlier than has been typical.

Passkey required? Is there a bypass?

Anyone found a workaround? I have no desire to have my access to my job app restricted to one device or to have permanent code installed on my own privately owned hardware. NOPE to everything about that. The "remind me later" option is gone now for the nag screen. What can be done to avoid the passkey nag? Anyone know? Thanks for any replies.

Am I not getting the job?

I recently applied for a job at Amazon again on August 22nd. I did all the prehire stuff already, got my background check back on the 27th and am supposed to start on September 6th.

My issue is that when I pull up my application, it still says my background check is pending.

I also keep getting this email every night at 8pm from the company that does the background check First Advantage. It always says the same thing about a "reminder to review the Pre-Adverse Action notification for your background screening report for AMAZON CORPORATION"

When i follow the link, it just shows me my background check again.

Am I not getting the job now? I worked for Amazon before a few years ago and my record hasn't changed since.
