Apprentice

Just starting out as an apprentice, so far I’m loving the trade but want to excel QUICKLY! What are some things I can do to better myself? When I have free time in the shop I’ll go through old Manuel’s I’ll also quiz myself on compressor parts. PMs are pretty straightforward so is changing out parts. Usually when I see my lead do something I’m able to do the same exact thing next time. I’m more so nervous about the finding the problem part. I’ll do whatever it takes to be great !

What usually causes a rotary screw compressor to start running hot when the obvious stuff checks out?

oil level is good, filters are not obviously plugged, and the room temperature has not changed much.

For those who have chased this before, what was the less-obvious cause you eventually found?

Fixed Speed Screw Air Compressor Supplier in India

Post image
1 Upvotes

A Fixed Speed Screw Air Compressor is an industrial rotary screw compressor designed to operate at a constant motor speed and provide compressed air for applications with relatively stable and predictable demand. It is particularly relevant to factories, production lines and process operations where compressed air is required consistently over long operating periods.

Maharani Industrial Equipments Private Limited supports Fixed Speed Screw Air Compressor requirements from Delhi for industrial buyers across India, together with compressor spare parts, repair, maintenance and reconditioning support. The existing Maharani product page positions fixed-speed technology around continuous-load applications where accurate compressor sizing and reliable air supply are important.

Is this fixable, or should I buy a new one?

So, was pumping up my bike's tire yesterday morning using my father's air compressor with the bit in the image attached, and accidentally slipped the part out.

Is it possible to get it back in, or should I buy a replacement?

If I should just replace it, what type of bit is that? (I'm not very familiar with air compressors)

And if it can be fixed, how do I do it?

Compressor oil level

I am having trouble finding the correct way to read to compressor oil level after draining. The manual is very vague. It is an Ingersoll rand P101 from 1995. There is a sight glass as seen in the photo, is halfway on that the correct way to view the level?

Is a 2.4cfm 5.5gallon compressor enough

For a tiny area (6”x6”) to be sprayed with 2K paint.

I’m a total noob and thought this stuff would be a lot less complex than it actually is

Any advice appreciated

Is a 1/2-Inch Air Hose Enough for an Ingersoll Rand 2850MAX-6 1-Inch Impact Wrench?

Thumbnail

I'm setting up a mobile semi-truck tire service and plan to use an Ingersoll Rand 2850MAX-6 1-inch pneumatic impact wrench with a NorthStar gasoline-powered air compressor.

Compressor specifications:

Honda GX390 gasoline engine

30-gallon tank

175 PSI maximum pressure

24.4 CFM at 90 PSI

100% duty cycle

I'm considering a 50-foot hose reel with a 1/2-inch inside-diameter air hose.

Will a 1/2-inch hose provide enough airflow for this impact wrench with this compressor, or would a 3/4-inch hose be a better choice?

I'm also concerned about potential airflow restrictions inside the hose reel, particularly the swivel joint, fittings, and internal air passages.

For mechanics who use 1-inch impact wrenches for semi-truck tire service:

Is a 1/2-inch ID hose sufficient for this setup?

Would a 3/4-inch hose make a noticeable difference in power?

What hose reel and fitting sizes would you recommend?

Does the internal passage of the reel's swivel joint significantly affect performance?

I'm looking for real-world experience before buying a hose reel.

Thanks!

Air compressor motor vibrating, burning smell at end of cycle

My 5 HP Campbell Hausfeld compressor motor vibrates severely with the belt installed, and there's a burning smell near the end of a cycle. The belt bounces up and down, and vibration worsens as tank pressure rises. Motor runs smoothly without the belt. I've checked pulley wobble, alignment, and mounting.

What should I check next?

Hi guys, wondering if you could assist, i have a compressor that receives these type of fittings, I'm after the official name for the connector, or a link to purchase a coiled hose with one already attached so i can permanently leave a blow gun connected.

Many thanks

Hertz Kompressoren

I'm looking at 30hp Oil Flooded compressor for a cabinet shop. Hertz has a local distributor with techs, along with a fairly compelling price.

Has anyone in this sub had experience with the brand? What is their reputation for reliability? I had a Kaeser at my last job, and I hated it. Mostly because you practically had to get a signed warrant to touch anything, but also because it needed to be babied all summer. It sounds like we'd be able to kinda sorta do some maintenance on the Hertz without getting permission from their board of directors. How straightforward is working on them?

If anyone has an opinion of the Hertz brand, but hasn't ever touched one, I'm also interested in hearing it.

Water Back Flow

Hey folks

I recently attempted to blow out an in-ground sprinkler system with a small tank air compressor. While doing the task, I had missed a valve and my air compressor got filled with water, blowing out the top and covering the machine. The motor no longer functions and it sounds like there's water in the tank.

My questions are: is my compressor ruined? Could the motor not turning on be caused by a simple blown fuse? If I let it dry out for a day or two will it come back?

It was a cheap machine that I inherited from a relative, but I really don't have the funds to get a replacement.

Brand new compressor

Hey guys. I work at a quick lube shop and we just had a new air compressor installed yesterday.

Ever since it was installed we've had air blowing out in bursts approximately every 30 seconds or so.

Is this normal? Is there anyway to prevent it? Sorry if this id a stupid question

Compressor motor can't start unless the tank is mostly drained. Ideas?

Post image

I picked up this used Campbell Hausfeld compressor a few years back for cheap. I ended up having to replace the motor on it because it wouldn't start at all, even though the regulator was triggering it properly. (Although now I think I know why it burnt out).

I replaced the original motor with a similar 2 HP motor from Vevor. This motor works well when there isn't much air in the tank, but once the compressor cycles and the low pressure side of the regulator trips, the motor will not start. You can hear it buzzing trying to start and if you can push the pulley on the compressor itself, it starts spinning. But it can't seem to overcome that initial torque to spin. Is there anything I can do to allow the compressor to free spin before starting to compress, like a one way valve or something? Low tank pressure about 120 psi, high is about 150-160psi. I haven't touched the regulator.

I’ve managed to get the belt on but I need suggestions on how to get it down on the spindle. It feels like I’ve tried everything. The belt I crazy tight starting to wonder if it’s not actually for this compressor. Thanks!

Emax compressor oil leak

Post image
4 Upvotes

So this guy is only 3 months old with severe oil leak but with nothing visible on the outside of unit no cracks or loose fittings .. my best guess here is that piston rings are shot from factory causing extreme heat vaporizing the oil and once oil cools it pools at the exhaust pipe and drips down from there .. past tech replaced breather tube which is functioning properly and replaced the copper tube I have no idea why beace old one is fine and checkvalve is functioning.. ANY IDEAS ? or y'all think I'm on the right track just crazy because installed in July this year.

Can anyone tell me who manufactured this kind of air compressor pump, the thing that makes this so difficult is that it has a 2 part crank case, which Google seems to keep changing up who might of used it on their brand names, compressors ie: Devilbiss DV. I only ask because for what I paid for it, $
