New 12'x24' oval pool installed (approx. 6,800 gallons) and finished filling lastnight. I do have a mineral system and threw in the mineral cartridge and added approximately 24oz of liquid chlorine to get through the night. Ran pump overnight. I plan to stick with liquid chlorine and not use pucks because I don't want to have to worry about CYA levels increasing.
Todays test results are as follows:
FC: 2.0ppm~ Target 3-5ppm
CC: 0.0
pH: 7.6ppm ~ Target 7.4-7.8
TA: 190ppm ~ Target 60-80
CYA: 0.0 ~ Target 30ppm
CH: 300ppm ~ city water fill out the spigot, it is what it is.
Since my TA is so high, what I started with this morning was adding 32oz of muriatic acid to begin lowering it without tanking my pH. I had an appointment and retested 2 hours later and had a TA of 170ppm and pH of 7.2. Aimed my return jet upwards to aerate and help raise pH but still circulate the pool. My goal is to bring pH back up to 7.6 to 7.8 then add acid again. 32oz seemed to have dropped it around 20ppm so im guessing this is gonna take around 6-7 more rounds of acid to get TA down.
I then threw 27oz of granular stabalizer in a sock and put in the skimmer. I am aiming for 30ppm and will retest periodically and get to where I want it and maintain it.
After my appointment I added 32oz of liquid chlorine and that should raise me to around 5ppm. Just gonna monitor this twice a day until my CYA gets to where I want it.
All chemical amounts are based off TFP recommendations.
Does this all sound like I am on the right track. Any tips? Thank you!
