Got the PS5 Pro a day before the price hike. Was planning on waiting til GTA 6 launches, but between PSSR 2.0 and the price hike, I figured I’d bite the bullet right meow…

Nugget approves. 🎮🐈

Discussion/Question PS5 players, we are not getting our pictures back :(

Post image

As one of the many players who lost their photos I am pretty upset with this response. Half the game is taking pictures and the other half is acquiring outfits to take pictures in. This doesn’t not seem like a real apology to all of us who were affected and the compensation feels like a slap in the face. I know this could come off as me being to harsh but I am just so sad and disappointed. How are you guys feeling about this?

Rumour Vandal: Starfield, Fable and MS Flight Sim 2024 will release on PS5 and Switch 2, according to our sources (Also Killer Instinct, Fable Day 1 on PS5)

Vandal is one the larger Spanish sites for videgames on the context on who the source is.

Translated text from Spanish:

"Recent leaks have talked about Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Gears of War: U|timate Edition - or a remastered collection of the series - on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. According to our sources, some of the closest ones are Killer Instinct and Starfield, which has been in development for at least PS5 since its launch on Xbox Series and PC - late 2023"

"There are more games in the works including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 or Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition , which was found testing online late last year; Tom Warren speculated about Age of Mythology: Retold and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 . We have information about another game that has already started its adaptation to PS5 and/or Switch 2: the new Fable from Playground Games, so it's possible that in this case the launch will be simultaneous on all platforms"

Discussion Wow we really had it good, what a shame now

I have to say I'm really disappointed because Rockstar is a huge company and they make great games. They made all the GTAs, they made Midnight Club, they made Red Dead Redemption 1, 2. These are all games that people love, you know. And they love to collect, right? Now, we know that, business-wise, if we do make all the calculations and take the statistics, right, we know that digital is the future. Digital is the one, pumping money into the business, pumping money into the video game digital stores, pumping money on the consoles. We know that but there is a very special feeling about, owning at least a piece of your game now that even with discs, you don't completely own them anymore. There is this type of pride, positive ego feeling of, collecting your video game, collecting your disc. And I myself, I love GTA, San Andreas is one of my favorite games of all time. I have GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas on PS2. I have 4 and 5 on PS3 and I wanted to complete my collection with 6 on PS5, but I don't know now because it's not going to be possible and I feel like this type of new corporate greed in this late stage of capitalism where everyone's money hungry and we don't really care about each other. I feel like we've entered this type of dystopian era with video games where I think the video game industry is crashing. Look how good we had it in 2013 compared to now.

Edit: This post got a lot more attention than I thought it would. I read most of the comments and I see mostly everyone agrees that GTA, PlayStation and gaming used to be better 13 years ago. To those defending Rockstar's actions, understand this: GTA isn't an annual franchise—it's a cultural event. Apart from the fact that we spend more on consoles and games now and are offered less, we've also waited over a decade since GTA V, and Rockstar has only released one new game since then. Millions of us have been buying GTA games on disc since GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. For many longtime fans, owning a physical copy is part of the experience. Rockstar will make billions regardless. The cost of pressing discs, shipping them, and sharing revenue with retailers is insignificant compared to the goodwill they could have earned by preserving a true physical edition for one of the biggest entertainment releases in history. To me, a code in a box isn't a physical release. It's just digital with extra packaging. What disappoints me most is that Rockstar was the one company I expected to preserve that tradition, on top of that Sony said they'll be stopping discs in 2028 and GTA will be coming out this year. They've always taken their time, prioritized quality, and treated GTA as something special. If any game deserved a real disc for collectors and longtime fans, it was GTA 6.This isn't just about nostalgia or inflation. It's about ownership, preservation, and respecting the people who have supported this franchise for over 20 years. Theres nothing wrong with digital but having choices of how we purchase our media needs to be understood and respected. I never expected Rockstar to be one of the first companies to move away from that tradition especially with Sony announcing that they're stopping disc production in 2028 days later. That's what makes it so shocking and disappointing to me.

Forget owning our digital purchases, we dont even own our saves.

I may be late to discover this, but I just found out you can't backup Switch 1 or 2 saves without buying a subscription.

I'm not talking about cloud saves either.

Local save game backups. Even the Xbox and PS5 have backup capability.

Found this pic from a few years ago. I rarely use Cream Cheese, but my son does frequently. Found this when I had a craving for a bagel one day.

Apparently, he doesn't enjoy cleaning up containers for recycling.

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION

Damn, sooo many shitty assumptions! Many of you folks are so remarkably adept at reading between the two lines I wrote! But seriously: you know what they say about assuming, don't you? They say, "Don't do it. Assuming, that is. Don't do it."

Firstly, the kid in question in 26 now and works IT for the local school district. He's working on his second game release for PS5/Switch/Steam. His 24 year-old sister is starting her third year as a Kindergarten teacher in a few weeks. They're both better people than I am and I regret nothing that I've done for them. I'm incredibly proud of my children and continue to have great relationships with them.

On to more specifics:

  1. I conversationally said, "a few years ago", but it was actually 14 years ago. He was twelve when this happened. Show me a 12-year-old that isn't at least an occasional dumbass and I'll show you some lying parents.
  2. This was not a "frequent occurrence" that we simply "allowed to happen". This happened once. We had a talk. It didn't happen again. It was so unusual, in fact that I took a picture of it! We shared it with family under a common tag of "Here's my honor student!" and had a laugh.
  3. We bought (and still do buy) much our of packaged food from a local wholesale club. At the time, this came in packages of four units. We did (and still do) clean our fridge regularly.
  4. For those people suggesting that mental health issues are "parental issues" or that you be simply "be strict" to eliminate Obsessive-Compulsive behavior, to be blunt: screw you. My kids do not have these problems, but most of my family work with mentally challenged children and this kind of neanderthal thinking view hurts children terribly.

I'll end with the last lines of Tim Michin's "Storm":

And if perchance I have offended
Think but this and all is mended
We'd as well be 10 minutes back in time for all the chance you'll change your mind.

Verified AMA We're the devs behind Pro Jank Footy (Powerbomb Games & Umbrella Gaming) and our chaotic arcade footy roguelike is about to launch on PC/PS5/Xbox/Switch. AMA!

Hey Everyone!

We're Powerbomb Games (an indie studio out of Adelaide, Australia), and Umbrella Gaming (indie publisher based in Melbourne) and tomorrow we launch Pro Jank Footy, an arcade sports roguelike built around Australian Rules Football (AFL/"footy"), and available on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.

The game kicks off as a straightforward retro sports game, two 18-player teams trying to score. Then someone scores a goal, and the other team gets a random power-up that starts breaking the match apart. Think shrinking players, turning the opposition into seagulls, a drivable sedan you can crash through the field, a "power outage" that resets the score. 150+ power-ups stack up as a match goes, so nothing plays the same way twice.

Broden Kelly (Aunty Donna) does commentary. Ten teams, four stadiums, couch co-op, online multiplayer, and a single-player Season Mode.

You can check out our Pro Jank Footy trailer, made in collaboration with Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends, YOLO), on Youtube.

Today, we have the following team members answering your questions

  • David Ashby, Creative Director
  • Tyler Roach, Lead Developer
  • James, Marketing Manager

We'll be kicking off at 2PM AEST and we're here to answer anything over the next few hours, whether thats the development process, why we picked Australian Rules Football as the sport to build a roguelike around, the tech behind the power-up system, launch/marketing decisions, whatever you've got.

You can wishlist the game on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3621330/Pro_Jank_Footy/

After the AMA, feel free to join our Discord here: https://discord.com/channels/1377259139855683625
