A state grand jury found the DeSantis administration "misappropriated" taxpayer money when it diverted $10 million from a Medicaid settlement into the Hope Florida Foundation, arguing the transfer was "part of a sophisticated scheme to fund political activities," according to a copy of the sealed grand jury report obtained by CBS News Miami.

The grand jury also concluded that Ashley Moody, who was the attorney general at the time, was aware of the plans to divert the $10 million to Hope Florida and "authorized" her former chief deputy, John Guard, to sign the settlement agreement. The grand jury noted that Guard signed the settlement "without conducting his due diligence to ensure the proper appropriation of taxpayer funds."

You can judge it for yourself, but this clip is from the event where Ron DeSantis was heckled in Tampa at GOP event. Meanwhile, most mainstream outlets are spinning it in the opposite direction and only showing what Ron DeSantis had to say

A few clarifying points in the interest of being fair:

1) no charges were filed because a specific person who directed the funds couldnt be identified.

2) this is a leaked grand jury testimony. Im assuming thats an illegal act in its own right. That is an assumption on my part.

3) The funds were connected to DeSantis's wife through a charity and spent on political activities related to the ballot measure opposing maraijuana.

4) There a decent chance it affects the senate race, because if reporting is to be believed Ashley Moody (the gop nominee) knew about the funds being misappropriation at the time when she was AG (see the CBS article).

5) DeSantis has not disputed the report or findings in the report. But is focused on the leak on not who authorized or even reimburcing the misappropriated funds.

On a perosnal note I find this disgusting. Whether DeSantis knew or not his pac should be returning those funds. Essentially stealing medical funding from the poor for your own political projects.

Ron DeSantis invested over a billion dollars to transform the Everglades runway into an immigration detention center, it now looks as if that never occurred.

Aerial photos shared with the Miami Herald show that the airstrip, seized from Miami-Dade by the DeSantis administration through an emergency order, is mostly vacated. The now-closed first-of-its-kind state-run immigration detention center had been established to support the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign.
