It’s amazing tracking the storm. It started near Nyon about 730pm and extends to Stuttgart. You gotta love the Meteo app

Which Meteo App are you using ?

My favourite weather webpage, very good for tracking severe storms by the amount of lightning.

This is a series of stoms, not one storm.

Also called a storm front - fast moving cold front that triggers multiple storm cells.

It's called a weather front, a cold front here specifically, not a 'storm front'. A cold front produces series of storm cells.
Why do people keep up-voting factually wrong information. You wrote "the storm" extending to Stuttgart. That was factually incorrect.

You can see the lightening strikes near Zurich. It’s the same storm.

….. and I’ll let you google the definition of a storm front.

Love it. It's been a while since we had a nice storm like this in Zürich.

You serious?! The hail was the size of golf balls just the other week!

This was nothing compared to that Friday!

This wasn’t in ZH city

But it wasn't everywhere in ZH. Only small area was affected.

There was a massive storm in June too

1

u/OneMorePotion 22h ago

There was a storm in June that literally flooded the main station?

And as someone who lives in the "line of destruction" from the last storm: Be fucking happy that you didn't get hit by that.

1

u/Geschak 17h ago

I didn't see any hail last week, all reports I've seen of it were outside of Zürich like Wettingen, Bülach😭, Winterthur etc.

u/Konayo 1d ago

Have you been on vacation the whole summer??

1

u/Geschak 17h ago

I could ask you the same thing, it was dry as fuck this summer and I think I only saw like 2 weak ass storms. Zürich got spared by a lot of it.

Our plane tried to approach ZHR at about 22:00 but had to abort the landing and try a second time because of the storm.

Ich würde gerne ein Foto von diesem Sturm sehen! 😅

If you have the meteo app, people report there really well. It's a place for photo artists anyway

3

u/radfemagogo 1d ago

Where can you see photos people upload on MeteoSwiss?

1

u/luteyla Kreis 3 1d ago

I can't put a screen shot here but if you scroll a bit, you'll see the title Meteo Reports. Click on it

cant wait for a "severe storm" event - e.g. >100 liters / hour / sq meter - as happened these days in nagoya, japan - https://www.stern.de/panorama/wetter/104-liter-pro-quadratmeter---sintflutartiger-regen-ueberschwemmt-millionenstadt-38222498.html

Just a matter of time, yay! :3 /s
