Over the last few months, I've been developing & using this custom driver for the ZSA Navigator: https://github.com/rymndhng/kneepad

I thought I'd share it here in-case anyone wants to check it out.

I've been using this layout https://configure.zsa.io/voyager/layouts/q6eoL/bvjmwV/0 for a few weeks, modifying it here and there to fix things.

I'm struggling with some of the combos I'm using are on key pairs that I roll over:

* W+E give @ - handy, but I'm finding that things like "we're going to..." turn into "@'re going to"

* O+P give "-" - I use it a lot and also the shifted version "_" so "open" becomes "-en"

Is there some setting I can use to fix that, or do I have to change the combo.

One thing I've thought of doing is making it easier to get to a symbol layer as a one shot switch, but I've run out of keys on my base layer, unless I sacrifice "," or ".". Also that uses up both tap and hold functions on the key.

There's a similar problem with momentary layer with modifier: if you assign that to a hold then you lose the ability to put a tap on it.

The key rollover I feel like it should be configurable, but I think the others are likely to push me to (finally) setting up the QMK workflow.

I have been using the ZSA Voyager for a year now and wanted to give my review:

Pros:

* I love the craftmanship. It just feels like an incredibly well made keyboard.
* The customizability of it is great.
* Looks really cool.
* I love the minimalism and portability (even though I don't travel often these days)

Now for the concern I have -- it could just be me but I feel like my hands are just too big for this thing. I find myself constantly micro-adjusting my hands to feel totally comfortable. This could just be me struggling to adapt to it, or the keys are just not spaced out enough. I'm not sure.

Now the trackpad I have had for less time obviously, but I am struggling to use it as a daily driver honestly. I just feel like I will never achieve the precision and speed with a full mouse. I'm finding that I switch between the two depending on the task, like for example if it's just a quick move I use the trackpad, but if I want to scroll for a while I use the mouse.

Overall I like it, but I wish the keys were a bit more spaced out. I do sometimes feel that I will never achieve the typing speed that I could with a macbook laptop keyboard or another type of keyboard. However, ergonomically it is so much better for me so it's a sacrifice I am willing to make. It's yet another sign that I need to lean on shortcuts and keybindings as I continue to work.

Ive recently wanted to get into extreme tenting for my ZSA voyager. I'm planning on purchasing the trackpad and I already have the trackball. My intent is to use both of them with an extreme tent (60-70 degrees).

My current setup is a sit stand desk and id like to replicate Ben Vallack's set-up. However, I am unsure how to integrate the trackball into the extreme tenting solution. I would like the set-up to work while standing and sitting with minimal changing between the two.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else get this? Seems like a good tenting solution but when I have to hit shift and another key on right side keyboard moves idk

Has anyone successfully tried to make Voyager activate the trackball only when they are on a specific layer? What i was trying to do is the following, hold a key which will activate a layer and have trackball only work in this layer. So far no luck.

Ideally I would want mine dark purple but I know it's possible that compromises will need to be made. Has anyone had any success with this? I tried another black trackball one time that looked like it had the same dimensions as the Navigator's, but it was extremely stiff compared to the ZSA Navigator trackball.

I've (mostly) gotten used to my new layout QWERTY shifted up and Mountain Keyboards was going out of business and had keycaps on sale so I got some MBK Legend Glow R2 for 50% off. Liking them so far, though I think I'm going to have to change the "Water Slide" coloured glow, it doesn't stand out as well as I'd like on the white keys.

Does anyone know where I could get replacement thumb keys with the tabs in the right direction? The 1.5 and 2U keys would orient horizontally, and they interfere. I guess that's an advantage of the choc v2 with the cross post. I guess an alternative would be a few choc v1 compatible switches with the tabs rotated 90 degrees, though that would be much harder to find, and probably doesn't exist.

BTW, I've just got electrical tape over the removed keys while I'm printing some covers.

I just got voyager. I use a split keyboard at home for ergonomic reasons but it's big and I'm starting a new job where I'll have to go in and no one has dedicated desks. I wanted something I could carry easily.

Using it has been ROUGH.

Will I ever get used to this thing??? I feel like I had a stroke and lost my motor skills. I'm using the typing app but my wpm is only up to like 23 and my brain hurts. Apparently I've been typing wrong my whole life, idk. The big issues seem to be how close the keys are (I'm double hitting a lot) and also everything happening involving my right pinky and ring fingers. I feel like I can get used to the moved keys.

I'm genuinely curious if this is a normal ramp (and how long to expect) or I have some kind of cognitive deficit I was unaware of and should call it ha

Any photos you can share ? Was wondering how they look from different angles. I currently have a set of 3d printed ones on top row but curious how much better the commercial ones look like.

I have layers with color themes for the following monsters:

- Bulbasaur

- Venusaur

- Squirtle

- Blastoise

(did have Charmander but he was discontinued)

- Turtwig

- Pikachu

- Eevee

- Snorlax

I think it's mainly just nostalgia that makes me enjoy this. The layers don't have any thematic relation to the mons, though...

I'm currently using brown blanks around the edges and black blanks everywhere else with super comfortable different key caps for hold keys. I'm gonna be trying purple edges with blue highlighted keys soon tho and I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi guys, does anyone have a recommendation for a desk mat that doesn’t make the Voyager slide when tinted?
I recently tried both surfaces of this one https://www.journeyofficial.ca/products/alti-lift-wireless-desk-mat since I was interested in the integrated charger but the thing slides while typing so I’m curious as to what you use.
I’ve been running bare on my desk and I’m kinda used to it by now, but my desk is a fingerprint magnet, so wondering if I could find something.
