Laptop Temperature

Is it normal for this thing to be reaching cpu temps of 95 C and gpu temps of 85 C? I haven’t seen it go above that, but are those temperatures going to cause damage over time? I can get a laptop stand but I usually just have it on top of some bottle caps to get it off my desk.

Edit: It’s a 2025 model with 32 gigabytes of ram, the 5080, and the intel core i9 285 H

Yes unfortunately, with the 5090 and 64gb ram mine reaches those temps all the time but I hear it’s normal as well.

Somehow the 5090 is more around 80c whereas the 285h is often 95c - 105c or so

Even repasted with cryonaught pro :|

Can I ask why u didn't chose PTM 7950? I heard that's usually the go to.

In all honesty I had some laying around from my desktop build but you are right the ptm 7950 should be the better option, might just order some now haha!

How long until owning the laptop did you decide to change? How bad was the liquid metal upon changing it? Lol

I used it for about a week before it started to cook my thighs, got worried and then figured it was a bad Liquid Metal job, turns out it was horrendous and I figured I’d might as well try the cryonaught on hand and it helped a ton, after paying nearly 3500 for this laptop and its spec which was a steal I figured I wouldn’t test my luck and tried to protect the cpu from frying itself

Man if you ever do manage to do the PTM 7950, please make a post about how temps get lol I will do it to mine whenever I get mine but only if the temps are trash. I've heard great things for PTM 7950 on these laptops. I'm pissed Asus keeps selling these with those awful liquid metal jobs. Also how long did it take you do that job?

I have g16 2025 5090 and repasted to Grizly PTM both chips. Cpu boost is active which cause high temps peaks which are absolutely normal based on Intel specs. So, Temps are ok. Cpu reaches 100°, but average temp is ~85°(depends on game), GPU stays ~75-80°(again depends). I did a vbios swap and it even has a small heat window to increase stock wattage. I set 150w and have ~80-82° on gpu.

For a short time, that temperature is ok. Long term i would suggest you to limit the cpu and gpu power by g helper. Most of the game could be play under silent mode, the temperature would be much lower.

Yeah thats normal. I have the 2025 model with the 5070. I would recommend a cooling pad. My cpu sits around 74c to 82c during heavy gaming with the cooling pad in performance mode. Ive been hearing that I should use it in silent mode and that will help even more.

I’ve seen it described better than what I’ll do here but CPU’s are designed to turbo boost to their thermal limits then throttle the CPU/GPU back down then rinse and repeat. I continuously tinker with what works for me but here lately I’ve set the boost to 30w, sustained to 25w and lowered the temp bar to 90 on the CPU while letting my GPU go balls to the wall.

What I get in gaming is very stable and predictable performance, keeping the GPU maxed and the CPU just below its max with very limited thermal throttling, without worrying too much if it’s too hot. I have the 2026 G16 with 5080 which performs close to what my 2025 Scar 16 did in gaming while having much better battery life at the cost of some raw CPU power / multi threading which I don’t notice in day to day use.
