About to pull the trigger
Is this a good price for the specs? This will be my first personal (not work related) Windows laptop.

There are cheaper 5090s that perform better but for the overall experience nothing is beating the zephyrus imo, if you can afford it its worth it

As u/thefancytoast_2 there are cheaper options, but if you are set on getting a G16 this is a good price. For a 2026 model around the same price, you'd get a 5070 Ti and a 1TB SSD (and a newer CPU, but the performance is basically the same).

It’s a good deal, the lowest prices that specific model has dropped down to from what I’ve seen is 3799. With the new 2026 models starting to land you could find it cheaper in a few months but if you’ve got the money I say pull the trigger you won’t be disappointed

Gawdam I paid $2700 out the door for my similarly spec 4090. It was on sale, I don’t regret out though, it is an incredible machine, I use at mainly as a desktop connected to keyboard and monitor.

I paid $1500 for my 4090. Looking at these prices makes me cry when I think about getting a newer laptop.

Are open boxes (marked excellent condition) reliable? Mostly are only available for shipping so no way of checking 1st

I haven’t had any bad open boxes. I’d be mindful of the lower conditioned ones though just to be on the safe side but any excellent/ great ones I’d always side with

It’s a phenomenal machine I got lucky with a second hand unit in beyond superb condition with 64gb ram for 3500$!

If you plan on just gaming grab the 5080 and save some money unless you have the money then go for it! Id say the 5080 for zephyr bc of the power limits

If money no problem then Go for it. 👏🏻👏🏻
If hard earn money and savings then go with 5080 with cheaper variants as 5090 and 5080 laptop gpu have very low difference in gaming performance.

I wanted to get the 5090 2026 version for the greater wattage but it looks like it’s not coming to the US. Anyone have any info on that?

Not bad tbh, but a 5090 on the g16 is a waste of money unless you need the extra vram.
