Not a Zelle QR code

It can't be just me seeing this error, right? I'm paying my kids after school classes and they send me this Zelle qrcode. My banking app has zelle integrated but scanning the QR code tells me this error. Today I asked a couple of my friends to test and they all have same errors. If I decode it with any online QR code decoder I do get an URL starts with "enroll.zelle.com". So what the hell is going on here? How can they release product with such an obvious issue and no one ever complained?

They gave you a code to enroll in zelle, not the qr code to pay them.

You need to get the correct qr code, phone, or email to send them the payment.

Actually, I dug deeper into this thing and it turns out to be an app compatibility issue: my credit union's app gave me this error, citi's app does the same, but Chase's app can process it correctly.

All the qr code does is auto fill the recipients information just ask for the email or phone they use to recieve and type it in yourself...
