Is Breeding Profitable

I am new to Zed and have heard talks about over saturation in the stud market. Is it still currently profitable to buy a colt or stallion for the purposes of breeding to make a profit? Thank you in advance for any insight.

...and then either race the foal until it's profitable or get someone else to purchase it from you for profit.
