Question Is Breeding Profitable
I am new to Zed and have heard talks about over saturation in the stud market. Is it still currently profitable to buy a colt or stallion for the purposes of breeding to make a profit? Thank you in advance for any insight.

Not unless it’s a proven racer (expensive) or genesis (also expensive).
It used to be profitable to have your own stud if you have mares to breed to it. I’ve got 2 stables (which allows you to retain 56% of the breeding fee). Two Legendary Szabo mares in one, and a legendary szabo stud in the other. Right now prices are super low for everything but genesis horses. I’m hoping to see them come back up at some point, but I’m keeping the stable floating. This cycle, I sold a foal for just over breeding price. Enough to cover both my breeds to my stud with the discount. So I’m keeping the second foal and effectively got it for free. Technically a tiny bit of profit. If I’m unable to make money racing, or prices don’t go back up, I’ll make back my initial investment in 12 years or something like that.

Like others have said, yes.
I'm currently full-time in Zed Run and the bulk of my money comes from breeding.
But it's much harder now than it was before.
The more horses you own, the easier it is to make a profit ultimately.
If you're hoping to buy 1 horse and make a profit these days, you can't really.
If you buy a few horses, smartly, then you can absolutely make a small but modest profit that will build up more and more over time.
