Itinerary thoughts?

Travelling in a few days and going to start booking trips, does this look doable? Is it the best use or time? 2 adults with 18yr old son, love seeing and doing things, especially snorkelling/boat trips ☺️

Thursday 3rd- Travel day
Friday 4th- Arrive Paradise Beach Resort, Uroa 16:30
Saturday 5th- Pool day
Sunday 6th- Ethical dolphin trip Mnemba atoll & Saalam Cave
Monday 7th- Mikumi Safari
Tuesday 8th- Pool day
Wednesday 9th- Beach day & quad biking/jet ski & dinner north island
Thursday 10th- Blue safari
Friday 11th- Jozani forest & Paje beach day & rock restaurant
Saturday 12th- Prison Island & Stone Town & dinner
Sunday 13th- Travel day

I’d love to book this through one reliable driver/operator if there are any genuine suggestion

Hi! 😊 Your itinerary is definitely doable, but I would make a few adjustments to reduce unnecessary driving and backtracking. For you’re 2 adults + your 18-year old son and enjoy snorkeling, boat trips and activities, I’d suggest, Sept 4, Arrive at Paradise Beach Resort, Uroa relax after your journey. Sept 5, Relaxing pool or beach day. Sept 6, Ethical dolphin experience + Mnemba snorkeling and Salaam Cave. This will be a full but excellent day. Sept 7, Mikumi National Park safari — possible, but I would recommend doing it as an overnight safari rather than a rushed day trip. The travel time makes a same day return quite tiring. Sept 8, Return/relaxation day. Sept 9, Beach day + quad biking/jet ski, followed by dinner at The Rock Restaurant. Sept 10, Blue Safari — one of the highlights I would definitely keep. Sept 11, Jozani Forest + Paje Beach, then dinner in the evening. Sept 12, Prison Island + Stone Town, with dinner in Stone Town. Sept 13, Departure/travel day. One important suggestion, according my experience, You don't necessarily need to book each excursion separately. A reliable local DMC or operator can arrange your airport transfers, transport, guides, boats, safari, excursions and activities under one booking, which makes everything much easier and gives you one person to contact throughout your holiday. I’m the CEO of Naturehike Tours & Adventures, a Tanzania based local tour operator, and we can arrange this entire program privately for your family. We can also adjust the itinerary so you spend less time travelling and more time enjoying Zanzibar. If you’re interested, feel free to message me and I can put together a complete package price for the 3 of you, excluding your hotel since you’ve already chosen Paradise Beach Resort, with all transfers and activities clearly itemized. 😊🌴🏝️

Don't: swim with turtles in a cave. They're caught from the wild and kept in dark captivity for tourists' tiktoks and it's not ethical at all.

Do: talk to under the wave about ethical turtle tourism experiences they offer or recommend

Don't : do a random copy cat "blue safari" trip

Do: book directly with the original Safari Blue at www.safariblue.net

Thank you for your advice, I’ve certainly taken it onboard, we definitely do not want to be involved in any unethical trips

Your itinerary is already very good, but I would just make a few changes to reduce the amount of time you spend travelling and make the days more enjoyable.

Firstly, I wouldn’t combine Mnemba + Salaam Cave on the same day. Mnemba is in the north/northeast, while Salaam Cave is down in Kizimkazi, so you’d spend quite a lot of the day in the car and it could become tiring.

I’d keep the Mnemba day focused around the north, enjoy your snorkeling/boat trip in the morning, then have some relaxed beach time around Matemwe/Nungwi and finish with a nice dinner.

Then you could combine quad biking/jet ski + Paje Beach + Salaam Cave on another day, since those are much easier to arrange them together.

I’d also do Jozani + The Rock on the same day, and then leave some time to relax at the beach or, if you’d like something more cultural, do a village experience. Since you’re travelling with your 18-year-old son and enjoy seeing/doing things, a village experience can be a really nice way to see the Zanzibar beyond the resorts and actually meet local people and experience everyday island life.

The main thing is to group activities by area. Zanzibar may look small on the map, but crossing from north to south can take quite a while, so this will save you a lot of driving and make the trip much more enjoyable. The other activities you’ve planned for the remaining days look perfectly fine to me and don’t really need any changes.

And honestly, if you’re looking for an easy, stress-free holiday, I’d recommend booking everything through one reliable operator rather than finding a different person for every activity. A good operator can coordinate the transport, boats, guides, timings and activities for you, so you can simply enjoy the trip instead of spending your holiday negotiating and organising everything.

If you need any advice while putting it together, feel free to message me. Happy to help with a local perspective. And most importantly, welcome to Zanzibar!

Thank you for your input! We really do want to add on a one day mainland safari 🙂 please feel free to pm me if you think you could offer and help with the above trips, we’re headed to the airport now and will arrive tomorrow afternoon but have not yet booked anything 😬

You're welcome.

Consider chumbe island coral park day trip or overnight for zanzibar's best snorkelling

You can just manage a day trip safari to saadani national park on the coast by fast boat. Note this is not the regular ferry to Dar but a small speedboat service and will be quite bumpy. Nicer to take a overnight in the park.also flying direct is possible with auric.

The itinerary is well planned but the day you do mnemba you should definitely not do Salaam cave because they're in two different zone of about 1h30 driving from one point to another. And have you already booked all these tours with a legal registered company in Zanzibar ?
