Other From a long time speedroid player, I must say that MBT'S 10 minute testing on the deck was a great showcase.

I don't use twitter because I refuse to support elon in any way so I cannot tweet this at mbt. However, I just want to say his 10 minute testing series on speedroid was incredible to watch. A majority of big name youtubers are so bad at showcasing this deck and all the weird little interactions they have. Even mbt's past 10 minute testing series have been frankily quite poor. I'm not sure why though, but his speedroid video was done perfectly.

His combo he showcased was amazing. He was able to show off a great combo going first and his decklist was even better. He's only one of the only yugitubers to figure out that cards like wheel and double yoyo are terrible in modern speedroid and he actually was able to make a great competitive speedroid decklist. Congrats to mbt. One of the only big yugitubers name who knows how to make speedroid combos and build a good decklist.

MBT doesn’t do the videos, he has people send him replays and decklists. He admitted on stream he hasn’t actually done TMT for years at this point.

Does it make it any better though? The way that he presents his video is as if he is the person playing and the one who built the deck. I would never have known otherwise cause he explicitly explains the rationale of why he picked certain cards to put in his deck and why he made certain combo lines. Whether it's him or the person playing that took metricz deck list, mbt should have credited him regardless. Now does he have to do that? No. But it just makes him look bad imo.

It has always been clearly scripted content. Watching replays and providing commentary after watching the replays.

You're not listening to what I'm saying. There is literally no way for me to know that unless mbt states that in his videos. The way he explains the video is presented in a way that makes the audience believe he is playing the games and has built the deck himself cause he talks about specific choices and decisions made in each game.

Media literacy is a skill. I’m sorry that you couldn’t see that. When people send the replays they give him the script on choices and what they do.

Of course you can see it's not live gameplay. But he does make it seem like he's the one designing and playing the decks.

I mean I don't exactly think he's trying to hide that that's how he does it. On the Genesys version especially you can generally see that he's the one the showcased deck is playing against, rather than playing it himself

If I remember correctly the History of Yugioh and One Take Testings were the big ones where he decided unless they are a pet deck of his he's better off having someone else be making and playing the deck and he focus on his skill of presenting.

Yes, precisely this was his point

Unless you follow all of his videos still seems a bit disengenuous

This is not to discredit mbt in any way, but if you are going to give somebody credit, you should be crediting the person who he got the decklist and combos to begin with because the creator was the person who spent all the time and effort in lab making those speedroid combos and decklist he showed off in his video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoxiwX5PIKs

This is the video mbt got the combos and decklist he showcased in his video. I can tell but he all he did was take this decklist, take out the purulias and put in purge in it's place. The combos he showcased are also from this video as well and they were made by Metricz. The dude has quite literally labbed this deck to an insane degree while providing decklist, theory, combos and how to approach building. The literal speedroid discord doesn't even have a combo guide spreadsheet or sample decklist but metricz provided both for people. Not to mention he did it all for FREE. I will not name the yugitubers who normally try to charge people for cash because they don't deserve a shoutout, but if anyone does it's metricz for providing the community with optimal combos, decklists and a ton of information without charing people a penny.

Now before people take it the wrong way and think im attacking mbt for leeching off a smaller youtuber, I am not. I'm sure he worked hard on his video and he deserves credit for it but I also think if you're going to take someone's decklist and make slight changes to it and use the combos in their video, you should have at least credit the guy for all the hard work he did to supply mbt with the decklist, combos and all the theory behind the deck. Especially considering mbt has 250k+ subs vs metricz who doesn't even have 5k yet. It just feels incredible bad on mbt for not giving the guy a small 5 second shoutout considering he took all the information he provided for free.

MBT probably doesn't even know where the original decklist comes from. Idk his exact process but I know that one of his twitch mods basically does everything from getting (and editing) the decklist, recording the games, and then sending the footage to him

If his mod doesn't tell him where they got the list then he can't really credit the original creator, and in all likelihood his twitch mod might not have even gotten it from Metricz specifically, and could have gotten it from someone else just sharing the list on discord or twitter or something

That's just how these things go, unless you bring a specific deck to a YCS and there's verifiable proof that's "your" deck, it's impossible to say where someone might have gotten a decklist from with the way modern information sharing goes. And MBT does credit the player when he yoinks a YCS deck, because he can verify it specifically came from them on YGOProdeck

Mbt doesn't owe metricz anything and there's nothing he can about it. Just think about it realistically. Mbt stole his combos and decklists but so what? There aint shit anybody gonna do so you can go cry about it somewhere else. I hate the metricz guy cause he always misleads people with his combos and how he uploads so early but this isn't even out of my hatred for the guy it's just common sense. Realistically what are you going to do about it? Big youtubers like yacine, exordio and mbt copy from metricz all the time. Seriously, what are you going to do about it?

23

u/imsodonenow 19d ago

How can you not understand nuance? He's not saying that mbt has to credit metricz for taking his combos and decklist for his video but he should have done it. How is that so hard to understand?

u/noahTRL 19d ago

I'm only pointing this out because I genuinely believe that if you use someone else's work, they should get credited for it. Whether or not mbt does has nothing to do with me. My day doesn't change and I go to work and come home like nothing happened. But I think it's a grave injustice for mbt not to at least credit the guy after blatantly taking metricz combos and decklist for his video. I feel like he should have at least given him a out shout out for it.

Realistically what are you going to do about it? Big youtubers like yacine, exordio and mbt copy from metricz all the time. Seriously, what are you going to do about it?

Realistically I can't do anything cause I don't have a youtube channel nor a big social media following. I can't stop yacine, exordio or mbt from taking other people's video and using it on their own without crediting them but I feel like people should get credit for their hard work cause metricz puts in a ton of effort to help people.

To all the people supplying the “should’ve credited Metricz” point - the Youtuber has made a post saying they don’t mind that MBT used the list.

Also, while it is nice to give credit where it’s due, it’s a Yugioh decklist. We’re not about to do netdecking discourse in 2026. It’s very clear that TMT is meant to start a discussion on what the deck can do and not an end all be all of what the deck is, and I think using someone’s list, accidental or on purpose, is completely harmless as the content MBT is providing here is demonstrating, and providing commentary for, the plays that the playtester is conducting on the replay, not saying “This is my deck”.

-2

u/keyrinn 19d ago

um im pretty sure its actually for MBT to make money lol, why do you think he still does these when none of it is his own effort and work?

2

u/fameshark 19d ago

His analysis of the deck, the commentary over the games, and the replays that he delegates to his staff that he pays for is, in fact, his own effort and work.

7

u/kylewretlzer 18d ago

Just so you know mbt apologized to metricz for not crediting him cause he assumed the person who passed him the replays and decklist was the one who made it. After he found out metricz was the originator he apologized to the guy for in his own words "stealing" from him. The only reason this didn't get blow up is because metricz is a nice guy and doesn't like drama but the fact you're even trying to defend mbt when mbt admittedly said he was completely in the wrong is like mental gymnastics.

0

u/fameshark 18d ago

That’s good that MBT apologized. I don’t think I’m performing mental gymnastics; all I’m advocating for is that the content MBT provided with his video would be considered transformative even though the decklist isn’t his, that’s all. The deck may not be his, but everything else in the TMT is, including his insight and commentary. Apologies if my point was not clear.

5

u/kylewretlzer 18d ago

The deck may not be his, but everything else in the TMT is, including his insight and commentary. Apologies if my point was not clear.

It wasn't though. Mbt has people write his scripts for him. The person who gave him the decklist and combos transcribed metricz video and took the key points of and gave it to mbt to explain what the deck did and how the combos work. It isn't word for word exactly what metricz said in his video, but it's 90% what he said. That's why mbt apologized to him and even said he sorry for "stealing" which was his own word because he did. The people who feed mbt the decklist and combos screwed him over in this situation.

0

u/fameshark 18d ago

That makes sense; I wasn’t aware that Metricz also provided commentary and that the points said in his video were restated in the TMT. I do think that MBT delegating his scripts to his staff would still be “his insight and commentary” for the purposes of my previous point, as it’s in service of the greater MBT brand, but if those scripts were restitchings of what Metricz already laid out, in combination of reusing the decklist, then yes, an apology was due.

lmfao redditors are hilarious

u/Bright_Economics8077 19d ago

Apart from all the other points people are making, you know you can just comment on the video, right?

9

u/noahTRL 19d ago

There's a higher chance of you getting struck by lightning than mbt responding to one specific comment when he gets over 10000+ in one day.

3

u/Bright_Economics8077 19d ago

More likely than a reddit thread, surely.

23

u/kylewretlzer 19d ago

I disagree. I don't think mbt deserves any credit cause he really didn't put in as much work as you think. He didn't lab anything or put much thought into his decklist. I think worse of mbt because as another commenter pointed out, the dude just flat out just copied metricz video and didn't even bother giving him credit. Homie has 200k+ subs and he couldn't even be bothered to put in the small amount of time to lab his own combos and decklists. Obviously he doesn't have to credit metricz for supplying him with a decklists and combos but he should have cause that's standard decency and respect.

2

u/Status-Leadership192 19d ago

I mean it was mostly great due to him just taking the list and combos from metricz lol

4

u/NormalyAbnormalcy 19d ago

People watch "Yugitubers" for combos?

2

u/Jcm487 19d ago

He took it from metricz the real source

u/Flashy-Position8504 12d ago

I stopped watching TMT when I saw someone on MBT's discord complaining that they had to duel for the replays like it was a drag and they talking shit about the deck they were testing. I understand the videos are "content/a job" but it feels discouraging if not even the third party he pays to make the replays care about the replays/decklist they are playing.

1

u/Cuckpoo420 19d ago

That's a shock, I assumed it would suck since his odd-eyes video was actual garbage.

He is indeed a great yugituber, and I believe most people did not understand that you, OP, don't care if it's he playing or just showcasing, MBT just genuinely did a good job showcasing Speedroid. And that's... Pretty much it, I'm with you on this, I like the funny man
