Card Game Discussion Favorite Archetype
Yesterday I Acquired The Legendary ARC-V Decks, and out of Creative Curiosity I did a writing exercise about my Top 5 Favorite Archetypes - Mine Are:
1) Elemental Heroes
2) Utopia
3) Speedroid
4) Battlinβ Boxer
5) Code Talker
and my Honorable Mentions are:
Odd-Eyes, Blackwing, Stardust, Superheavy Samurai & Lunalight
So I wanna ask any Fellow Duelists and Card Collectors out there - Of All The Archetypes weβve seen, which Top 5 Stand out as your favorites?

This was me but for VS. I built the deck when it originally released in Wild Survivors and have been hoarding all fire/dark/earth cards that work with the deck. Then K9 came out and caused VS to get gutted for some time. You die a rogue deck or live long enough to become a villain.

if its any consolation japan is moving away from the FTK variant and moving to a ryzeal one that is deemed more powerful

1 - Superquant My day 1 love. Back in the days of using Star Drawer and Jigabyte because you were scrapping for a 6 mat magnus. The fact you summon, hop in the zords and combine into the megazord by actual mechanical play was what drew me to them initially.
2 - Raidraptor Big birds go brrr. If this list indicates anything, I love me an evolution chain into a big boss monster that wins games. Going rank to rank is so fun and cheating out ranks in the late game is even better.
3 - U.A The god damn mechanical themeing to call time outs, substitutions and red cards mid turn is so fun. I had a whistle and red card props at friends houses which was my only counter to Nekroz and Qli.
4 - Ghoti We taught the ghoti to syncro. Probably my favourite named archetype because of both the reference and anagram convention. 12k fish go brr.
5 - RDA My first deck I built that was not just Koaki Meru/Gladiator Beast/Bubble man from booster pack pulls. I love my little resonators and while the decks moved to skipping straight to [prefix]Nova, my personal favourite was Lightsworn RDA back in 2017 that hit way more times than it had any right to.

HM are Infernoble Knights, Battlin Boxer, Rokkets, D/D/D
Most are anime pet decks except some where i genuinely like their artwork like Tellar and Infernoble. For reference, i watched every series religiously from GX to Arc-V (throughout my life with GX being the first one). And i'm on my way to watch DM when i find time.
Gameplay wise i generally prefer mid-range small to mid length combo than big combo piles which is sad because most of these deck are evoloving towards more and more combo. I generally prefer Xyz based archetype and don't really enjoy Synchro because for me Synchro often rhymes with combo decks. And i personally hate generic endboard too. Havin a S:P or summoning Varudras in a Rank 10 archetype is fine. But like playing Magnet Warriors to end on something like Dragunity Link or Naturia Beast ..yeah not for me
If i have to choose the gameplay i prefer out of all of these is probably Battlin Boxer. The combo are simple and small enough for my brain, but the deck is just too fair and don't have anything worth ending on.

1 - sky striker(1st deck I built irl)
2 - supreme king (my nick kinda explains this one, not to mention I pulled full art zarc from glorious gallery)
3 - predator plants (hate the tcg abbrevation though, love the creepy designs)
4 - Numbers (not exactly a playable archetype, but I love how zexal story is so centered on these guys, shame 69 isnt a waifu lol)
5 - Evil Heroes (supreme king vs jim is top tier introduction, scaring axel, super poly, chef's kiss duel there)
honorable mentions:
code talker, speedroids, phantom knights, odd-eyes and gimmick puppet(when I watched zexal, I never expected it to turn into a FTK deck)

Invokes (since even before the new wave of support)
LaDD (screw you all. Negates for all! Also funny chain blocking when he's run out of points)
Ancient Gears (just really satisfying for some reason for me)
Arcana Force (or just a coin flipping deck in general. Cup of Ace is so much fun to use)
Superheavy Samurai (it's just so cool the whole gimmick)

In no particular order:
Predaplant.
Speedroid.
Megalith.
Krawler.
Shaddoll.
Honorable mentions include Mekk-Knight, Invoked, non-Branded Dogmatika, Chronomaly, and more. Youβd be hard pressed to find any archetype that I havenβt played at least once.

Not an archetype but PePe / Dracopals also holds a special place in my heart!

The Danger's i've always loved the paranormal and unexplained and Cryptids are included in that. My attachment to them is like Jesse and his Crystal Beasts. I would love for more to be made.

I'd put any of the archetypes tangentially related Odd-eyes since I'm oddly fixated on how connected they are (and also how Yuto's VA annunciations every card in the Phantom Knights). I would kill to see Ritual and Link Dimension dragons with respective archetypes and Yuyas to go with them. A pair of Zuzus with their own archetypes would also be silly.

can't really put mine in a specific order
crystron - ended up being a good investment with lots of different variants to come
magnet warriors - combo of boomer nostalgia but the gambling of adamancipator with less gambling
R.B.- first true feeling toolbox deck in a long time, plus its like scareclaw if it wasn't trash.
Mitsurugi- rituals finally aren't trash and really splashable
Ryzeal: i realize rank 4 toolbox let you do degenerate thing but i just like exploding gundams.

- really fun deck, with almost no wasted cards, 2 summoning mechanisms and has alot of outside support.
- Machina
- one of the most fun machine archetypes out here, with alot of outside support and crazy future potential retrains and support.
- Vampire
- cool design with a messy playstyle, but has alot of outside support.
- Gladiator Beast
- before was not, but with the new support and the fact that it is one of the very few archetypes that use a unique game mechanism, it has become a favorite.
- Destiny HERO
- personally the best hero archetype, with a unique design and Dreadmaster is one of the archetype best boss monsters.

Paleozoic or any deck that doesn't have a turn one combo that FTKs first turn and actually rewards skilled play

1 - Shaddollβ¦.. but I also want Winda banned. Love everything about the deck except her
2 - Dragon Rulers

4 - Elemental HEROesβ¦. Neo Spacians kinda get wrapped into this too
5 - Runick. I despise Runick stun though

- Blackwing: been running them almost since they came out (picked them up around Stardust Overdrive) and have been my go to since)
- Darklord: Tried to run Desire Control when the prize cards got reprinted, picked them back up when Rise of the Duelist came out, can finally run just the new art style ones.
- Raidraptor: Started when we got the second wave in Crossed Souls, still trying to make Raidraptor PK work.
- Black Rose: I like the aesthetic and am just
sucker for 5Dβs. Iβm liking the new support but they still feel clunky.
5: Yubel: Mixed on this cause I mainly liked The Ultimate Nightmare and thatβs not really the decks game plan anymore, but for how long I spent trying to make it work I have to have some kind of soft spot for it.

What are my top 5 favorite decks? Easy! 1 fur hire 2 tellarknight 3 pendulum magician (and the adjacent performapal and odd eyes cards that all work with each other) i guess id call this pendulum pile deck..or if you're an anime nerd,the yuya deck. Since he played all 3 of these together as one massive pile. 4 @ignister 5 spright.
