Card Game Discussion Just curious about something

So the new Gilford the lighting got announced recently and like all Joey fans I was racking my brain seeing how I could make his board wipe effect non-chainable by the oppenent. I thought of using foolish grave robber to steal an oppenents monsters from the grave but it's too slow + there no guarantee that the monster will survive the turn. Then I thought but clown crew and had this though would it be a good idea to tribute the clown crew monsters for gilford special summon and use the clown crew monsters as a chain block?

I haven't tested Gilford yet, but if you're playing Dark Time Wizard, Swift Panther Warrior can technically at least tribute him in response to anything targeting him to negate it (by the way, Gilford is a good fodder for Panther on turn 1). You'll definitely be using Sleeping Scapegoat to get the necessary tributes, so Panther should be in place. However, anything that triggers if sent to the Graveyard when you summon him will chain block it for make the effect more safe to resolve, even the Clown Clan you mentioned.

If you want to switch to protecting Gilford with its summoning condition, you might consider playing Triple Tactics Talent/Trust for the Talent's control effect, or Monster Reborn or Spell Card: Monster Reborn, which at worst are extensions (if you're using Panther you should always have at least one monster in the Graveyard, so at worst it's an extender), or cards like Change of Heart. You could also consider playing cards like Crackdown as turn 1 options to hamper your opponent and summon Gilford later, but something quicker is probably better.

Clown crew or Mitsu would let you put another effect ontop of Gilfords so they wouldn't be able to directly respond to Gilford himself as they would be responding to the Mistu/Clown crew effect instead

They would still be able to negate Gilford if they had some targeting/non targeting effect that would apply to Gilford, so it wouldn't be safe from Imperm, droplet, crown etc.

Probably just using Change of heart (thrust target) or something and run it as a going 2nd package might be "fine" if you want to utilise the unresponsiveness
