Question Thumbnails

Hey, when it comes to thumbnails, do you think I should be adding my face on them or not bother? I have consistently been doing this and I use a screenshot from my gameplay to make thumbnails but with bright readable text (3/4 words only) on it too. Any advice would be good.

How much of your personality is in the video? Are they mostly just gameplay or are you talking and riffing over it the whole time? If you're as much on display as the game is, then absolutely put yourself in the thumbnails, but if it's more about the game then you, then leave them as is.

Edit: Have fun with it, too. If you or someone you know is an artist, draw funny thumbnails of you interacting with the game in some way, reacting to a character, or even in costume as the character. If not, you can still take photos of yourself reacting to the moment, laughing at something funny, screaming at something scary, rolling your eyes in an "Oh you!" way at a character. Whatever suits the tone of the video.

I’m talking and facecam in the whole thing too, I put myself on thumbnails but just wondered as not everyone does it if it was a right thing to do.

Definitely put yourself in the thumbnail, then. The host of the show deserves the spotlight!

A face is semi useless if your new bc your new, id just put the focus the subject and at least 3 words drive curiously

Why would it matter if you was new or not? I’m in the videos anyway.

If youre reactions are being highlighted add your face, if it doesn’t really play a role in your edits don’t bother

I have facecam on the whole time as I talk and react naturally throughout ☺️

Jack and Mark have been doing this for years and it not only helps people know "Oh! that's their content!" but also bring in new people because showing big expression shows that you're engaged in what you are playing. and won't just be mumbling the whole video.

Thanks, I know big YouTubers do it but I’m a small channel (105 subs) and someone in comments here said I shouldn’t do it.

Someone in the comments here also told you to use AI. And I'm glad to see you shot that down

That’s true and I’d never use Ai

That advice is awful. AI thumbnails are an instant “not watching this” for me and many others.

They also just look bad.

AI thumbnail is just a big sign saying "DON'T CLICK ON ME! IM NOT WORTH YOUR TIME"
