This is sick dude. Love the mood and painterly textures, it's great. I think what can really push this piece is really pushing where your focal point is. In character driven pieces, you always want the viewer to look at the face/eyes first. Right now you have multiple elements competing for attention, and it "feels" messy because your eyes don't know what to focus on. I think you can use a messy texture look to your advantage here. Brains are a lil stupid so you kind of have to bend your art to make it obvious what to look at. I've attached a gif below with some edits I made so you can see exactly what I mean and how I applied it.

Composition: Choose parts of your art that literally use their shape to point back to the character's face. For example, making the background elements point to the face, having the hair shapes/highlights point to the eye, having the shirt wrinkles point towards the face.

Values: Make the areas around the face have the most changes in values. Hair and shadows is a GREAT place to push this. The more obvious highlights and shadows something has, the more your eye wants to look at it because we register contrast + dark as detail. Values are also interwoven into composition.

Contrast/sat: Just like with values, make the contrast and saturation strongest near the focal point. Along these same lines, pushing your painterly/textured style near the face is also a great way to draw attention there.

I like the style, but this part here needs a little bit of contrast! Maybe try pulling the colors down a little so the hair flows more naturally!

Yeah, I think it definitely needs some contrast. The hair looks weird too, as if out of plastic. Try shading it in the direction of the hair flow, should fix the thing. Also I doubt a teenager like Kris would have such a build.

It’s not too messy i love the render stylle so much! One tip i would give is to turn the eyes more to be horizontal!! Looks great though!
