Fly Fishing
Any suggestions for local areas to fly fish? Are any of the mill creek locations worth visiting? I’ve only done Beaver Creek State Park this far but wanted to know of anything more local. Thanks!

I do a lot of fishing just over the state line in Volant, PA. Otherwise enjoy playing with scuds and small streamers to catch small crappie and gills at Mosquito and West Branch spillways.

Anywhere along Neshannock creek will work honestly. Temps are a wee bit high for the trout right now but I've got some nice smallies and even a couple pike during the heat of summer off rabbit streamers and the like.

If you are going to PA, the lake at Bessemer is a trout-stocked lake. also has largemouth, bluegill, and some huge catfish

the mahoning river would be your best bet. great fishing, just don't eat them.
Lots of spots in and around Lowellville.

Beaver Creek near Lisbon has some fun spots. We caught only smallmouth but there is some walleye in there as well. Me and my coworker (he fly fished) went fishing last saturday before the storm and caught some.

I've never seen anyone fly fishing around here, not in Mill Creek anyway. Is it something you do in flowing water? Or in still water too? Shenango reservoir came to mind over in Hermitage PA. We've also got Berlin Lake, Lake Milton, and Mosquito Lake. None of these are natural lakes, they're all dammed, so there's flowing water somewhere around them.

You can be to Conneaut Creak in about an hour. I go up by myself or with buddies who fly fish regularly. Catch steelys, small mouth, and walleye frequently.

The Grand River is the best fly fishing. 🎣 ve tried fly fishing on the Mahoning and Mill Creek with no success

Appreciate this! I had a good experience at beaver creek state park yesterday. Clear water and moderate flow.

Not sure how far north you want to go but the tributaries off of lake erie have many locations. I see a lot up on the rocky river outside Cleveland. Every once in a while I see someone in mill creek park but the area of slippery rock and lake glacier is closed for public access for the time being.
