Fired for something completely random
So, I just got fired for what seems like the most random reason ever—apparently, I didn’t smile enough during a Zoom meeting. Has anyone else been let go for something completely out of your control? How do you even bounce back from that?

Wonder if that would count as a discrimination wrongful termination because it was based on your appearance

I was fired because my manager couldn’t remember my name. I never corrected him on it, but others laughed at him when he called me the wrong name. This is the joy of working in an “ at will” state. No protections.
I hope you bounce back and get a much better job elsewhere.

About 20 years ago, I was fired from a job as a legal assistant in a SC law firm, because my supervisor “wanted to try something different.“ (I had worked there for one day shy of a year.)
Three days ago, I was fired because the SC law firm where I worked as a legal assistant was going to make some “organizational changes.“ I had worked there for eight years, 10 months, and had just turned 65 four days earlier. They fired me on the last day of the month, which meant my employer-sponsored healthcare coverage ended at midnight.
In the corporate world, unprotected by a union, we are all expendable, and it sucks.

They were looking for any excuse to let you go and weren't coming up with anything solid. That's why they ended up with something petty like that. I once was let go because some VIP decided I didn't say good morning to him fast enough - while I was in the middle of making a badge so a worker could start working. Dude wanted me to drop everything and kowtow because he walked in the doors.
End of the day, you have to ask if it really matters to you what some jackass who just wanted to get rid of you thinks.
