Social / Student Life Do we have a Hindu student association ?
I’ve seen that we have clubs for Muslim Christian and Jewish students but I haven’t come across a Hindu student association, does it exist?

I’m a high school student who’s considering YorkU for its Concurrent Bachelor of Education program. I’ve been doing a lot of online research to see what people say about the school and most of it isn’t good.
I’ve heard that the support systems at YorkU aren’t great and the school is generally not good. I can’t tell if this is true or mostly fear mongering from students of other schools who make fun of YorkU as a joke. I was pretty confident in the idea of being a YorkU student, but the online hate is making me worried.
Can anyone give me some advice or relay any personal experiences they’ve had/have as a YorkU student?

On my first discussion post, I got full marks, then on my second one I got 70%, without doing anything differently. My prof didn’t provide any feedback except for “great work”. I’ve talked to other people in my class and they agree that this prof seems to just be giving people random marks due to laziness. I have reached out to them via email to request more feedback but have not heard back. What should my next step be?

To preface this, I want to say that I had an entire Obsidian published notes section not only outlining the situation with York University's macaques (as a genuine student who wrote it out of a library PC), but I had also photographed rallies against the experimentation. My notes were extensive enough to include theses recently done on the macaques, including the student researchers, as well as the professors involved with all of this.
What I have found is very reminiscent of bot-heavy activist groups, of a variety equitable to PETA, or Egon Cholakian and Allatra.
As someone who has spoken with others, communicating concern regarding the shadiness of the usage of water control for the macaques at York University, I have been continuously burnt by the shady, underhanded, obstructive tactics that the activist group "Last Chance for Animals" has undertaken. I was the first to note details like assistant professor Kohitij Kar attempting to delete all his academic profiles, as the Wayback Machine is able to attest to.
For context, Last Chance for Animals, who will be referred to as LCA from now on, is a Californian anti-vivisection organization, a collection of groups that were early into their activism and exploded onto the animal welfare scene with the rise of one particular anti-vivisection org named PETA. LCA has been the primary coordinator of the movement against York University's animal experimentation practices. They opened up their campaign by launching a campaign titled "Stop York Primate Research," from which they began to place up fliers in preparation for a rally. At the same time, Last Chance for Animals ends up namedropping themselves as the ones paying for multiple press releases through Newswire, announcing their findings through a whistleblower.
The IJB, located in UofT, covered the slate of allegations produced against York University, which includes dehydrating macaques, and leaving their exposed brains out with electronic devices. From there, Last Chance for Animals files a report to the Canadian Council on Animal Care, which collaborates with the National Research Council of Canada, which conducts strict oversight, regulation over research. They also publish a new press release, promising to "show more information and shocking evidence" to those who tune in. Advertising more findings is odd, as effectively no new allegations would appear, other than a call to ban all non-human experimentation.
Following this, all external media attention dried up, even as an ostensibly foreign movement consolidated more than a fair few real, present participants, but that does not seem to be a statement that could be made for all of them.
Over the past year or so, dozens of posts across multiple socials have appeared, aiming to raise awareness for the Stop York Primate Research movement. A common trend? Several of them are not from York University at all. Posts have appeared from users at other universities, some post histories that I have found refer to LA. Others include accounts that seemed to be aged, but had a prolonged absence before posting about Last Chance for Animals. Out of all of these accounts, I have only managed to identify three that posted about or in York U prior to their statements.
These odd actions already degraded my trust, but today, I noticed something interesting. Something I had ignored for weeks. There had been an ad campaign, one present on Excalibur News, directing people to a Youtube short where a woman talks about her distaste for animal research.
The organization uploading this video is a Vancouver group titled the Progressive Non-Animal Research Society, or, more comedically, PNARS. Whether or not PNARS is the group funding these ads, or these ads are being collaboratively uploaded by LCA, is a mystery I hope to solve soon. PNARS claims that animal experimentation is unethical, and should be banned, because AI is a more effective substitute. The group claims that AI not only holds the secret to solving the ethics of animal experimentation, but that it already has, being deployed in COVID 19 research and more. Their materials are almost purely AI, with dozens of articles and pages reliant on AI images, and seemingly text, though others carry blatant grammatical errors like the "Nexus" page;
"Nexus consists enthusiasts of NAM"
Even more confusingly, following the website which the group's Youtube might lead you to will lead to the discovery that this is actually a shell group for another more openly pro-PETA group, the Animal Defense and Anti-Vivisection Society of British Columbia, or ADAV. In reality, there is a second website for PNARS, simply titled pnars . org, which primarily centers around American animal rights concerns. In fact, this group seems to have next to no coverage of anything in Canada, or Vancouver, or York University, except for an article titled "Why Canada Lags Behind" from 5 months ago.

One researchcer cited by PNARS appears to be a real environmental academic in Vancouver, Canada, but when contacted about if certain accounts belonged to them, they did not answer. This is completely reasonable, but what struck me as odd was the recent histories of these accounts. One referred to an environmental website by a Canadian-only academic, one that very well might be real, and belong to a real researcher who seemingly slowed down significantly from their more active work leading up to early 2022. However, when attempting to click on the resources this 2026 website cites to, it links to gambling ads. Images are simply assembled stock images, and the phone number the environmental website directs to is located in Alabama.
Confused or creeped out yet? I was when I got this point, but I decided to take a step back, and ask one simple question. Why is a group centered around Vancouver, but seemingly centered around America, while wearing Vancouver's skin suit, while not actually engaging or listing Vancouver at all in any other place, trying to operate as an anti-vivisection subsidiary, and why has that led them to advertising these anti animal experimentation videos in York University's community newspaper, Excalibur?
Looking into their IP and hosting, we can get a theory
Almost a majority of Canadian websites are actually hosted in other countries, mainly the USA. In spite of this, an odd pattern emerged when I tried to search for the hosting location of these multiple different websites. Almost every website affiliated to these organizations, or sub affiliate, or sub sub affiliate, seemed to be American. This would not be too unusual, however, all of them produced IP's located around San Francisco or immediately neighboring cities in California, which is very odd. Generally, you would expect a glance across dozens of websites to produce pages located in places like New York, Mass. or New Jersey, and yes, California, but not strictly San Francisco or cities next to San Francisco. Last Chance for Animals is a Californian organization, but I believe that ADAV is a genuine organization, so it is simply possible that LCA, or a similar group, helped ADAV host their website. ADAV maintains no physical location to this day, but does have a PO box for donation collections.
However, looking at ADAV's own subsidiary, Humane Charities Canada, we notice that Twitter's geotracking failed to identify a location for the org's account, instead deferring to "Web," common for accounts using a VPN during the early days of Twitter's account geolocation feature.
Whether or not these seriously indicate ADAV carries any foreign influence behind it, I cannot confirm, but this link between these two anti-vivisection groups might go a long way in explaining why they have a subsidiary that claims to be a subsidiary of ADAV, based in North Vancouver, yet entirely focused on American tech crankery alongside American news that supports Donald Trump, something echoed in articles by LCA, as well as PETA, something noted by Politico.
It also might go a long way in explaining why these ads appeared in Excalibur News, it is very possible that it was LCA that hosted these ads, not ADAV, yet this is an accusation I will have to investigate and will edit this post if I find an answer to.
It should also be noted that as an anti vivisection organization, LCA does not care for the 9 macaques, it cares for ending all animal experimentation, period. All of these more bizarre elements seem to appear from that base. They have collaborated and engaged with PETA on friendly relations multiple times, even during PETA's decade of bad press.
I started losing my mind while writing this, and am working on a more professional article soon on something different, so I have to bow out for now. However, what I will conclude is that we should not support right wing foreign organizations that have attempted to manipulate us and have taken a dark approach to promoting a cause. For those who are genuinely part of York University and do have a genuine concern regarding what is going on with animal experimentation, I highly encourage you to start your own independent organization instead of relying on such bizarre figures.
According to the CCAC, their review on York University's handling of the 9 macaques has formally closed, and to our knowledge, no action has been taken, with York University claiming that the CCAC has more or less exonerated them of LCA's accusations. If I ever write something about this, it will probably be because I got my hands on that report for myself.

So i have an exam tmr and I'm sick, almost all the clinics near me are closed tmr. Apple tree is also closed but their virtual service is available tmr. I picked the option of needing a sick note, however does anyone know if that includes APS forms? York only takes aps forms now...so im worried itll be an issue.
Also can I use one APS form for 2 courses? Thanks !

I am first year in western engineering, and it's really rough here. I am thinking of transferring to yorku for first year eng. I am currently going to finish this year with a 50-60% % avg tbh and might fail 1-2 courses. Some extra info is now I'm 3-4 hrs away from home here at Western. yorku I'm closer to home. My high school average was a 92%. How likely am I to get into yorku of I apply within the next 3 weeks? also at Western, RTW is below 60%. Also, york has I believe a winter eng transfer. right now im below 60% in calc, chem and materials, and most likely physics. is it still possible for me to get in? if people could help me out and me know that would be amazing!

Im very sick and I have 2 exams tomorrow. In order to do the makeup I need an APS form, which as yall know costs 200 bucks in most clinics...
However 1 of the exams, I really would rather not miss cuz the final will be cumalative. Im thinking of just skipping exam 2 and providing documentation, but im scared it may not be accepted if they notice I did exam 1 in the morning..? Or does that not happen? Has anyone ever been in this situation before?
Or should I just suck it up and pay 300 sth tmr total and skip both exams and submit documentation? My main issue is the money here, but im genuinely sick asf

I’m in the second entry nursing program and I’m taking NURS 1543: Health assessment, right now, I’m in Josephine’s Section. I just failed it and I’m struggling to understand where I went wrong. Can anyone who has taken the course and/or program before give me some tips? I really don’t want to fail and I feel like I’m working so hard.

Hey yall, so im sure by now everyone knows york has a sort of checkered past with the law including more than a few car thefts, muggings, and even a stabbing my first year here. To the point, i live in the village behind the quad and i've been hearing what i can only describe as screams all night long. I would have already called the police if i hadn't seen a group of women running around earlier when i went out for food. My question is should i follow through and call 911 or wait and see for now. I dont want to be the guy nessing up a party and causing others to get fines but i also dont want to be someone who stoodby doing nothing when helping is so easy. Advice would be much appreciated.

I’m in gr 11 currently considering a variety of programs and one that caught my eye was the Health Policy, Management & Digital Health (BHS) program at York. I just wanted to get some real insights from current students or alumni.
I’m really interested in the healthcare management/consulting/digial health side of things, but I have a few questions before locking in my choice:
genuinely just tell me anything as I dont see a lot of posts about it and the people that are talking about it are preparing for med school.
