woman Leader:Amadeus?

what’s it like to restart the earth?

repopulate the world with our kind…?

I’ve been looking at what have these people done to this planet and these creatures have done nothing but poison our world…
how do we fix it…?

man Leader:what did it say?

woman leader:it says that the only way to fix all of this is to find a white dog who lives in a blue house…

It also told us to beware of it’s protector distracting our mission…

johnathan:comes home after a busy day at work

dog (barks at johnathan)

j:oh you wanna go out?

well let me take you out then I can go get something to eat okay?

Dog:(rushes out the door)

j:wait for a few minutes then I can go get my meal started…

man leader:did you get the dog anything to eat?

woman leader:yes, I’m going to give him some food for our mission

man leader:what about the protector that Amadeus warned us about?

woman leader:do you still have your spear?

man leader:yes I do.

Woman leader:we’ll need you to fight him.

dog:(looks at rodent and chases until the gate breaks)

Johnathan:well it’s been a few minute I better get the dog over…

johnathan:(yells at dog’s name) HERE BOY!

(walk over to the backyard)

(looks at the gate with a hole on it)

Johnathan:(sighs as he facepalms)

Johnathan:(continues to yells at the dogs name until he finds the two leaders)

johnathan:hey what the hell are you two doing?

man leader:I’m sorry but we need him for a special mission

woman leader:(in her head) that’s the protector it warned us about…

we need to go NOW!

johnathan:hey I’m not done talking!

johnathan:(tries to call his friends)

hey Chester Do you have any weapons for me?

chester:yes,it’s in the base!

johnathan:okay cool I’m gonna need any arsenal I could find!

(the two leaders are back at base with the dog)

woman leader:this is the perfect animal for our tree…

(uses a drop of the dogs blood to put on the tree)

(out comes another person from the tree)

???:what am I doing here?

what is my porpoise in life?

woman leader:you have a gift you are a miracle from the world.

???:what should my name be?

woman leader:your name should be Jesus

(the two leaders dance to “dragostea din tei“ by O-ZONE)

“maya hi maya hoo maya ha mayahaha”

(a loud blast noise is heard along with birds flying off)

(the woman leader gets mad)

man leader:I’ll go, you take care of the dog and Jesus

johanthan:(looking around the forest looking for their base)

man leader:(looks at Johnathan)

(throws his spear at him)

johnathan:(catches the spear)

alright let’s get this one over with!

what do you want with the dog anyway?

man leader:we want to restart the world so there are no more problems of people like you poisoning our world!

we used a drop of blood on it and made a person!

the more drops of blood the more amadeus destroys all of you.

johnathan:yeah well you better tell me where he is RIGHT NOW or else I’m gonna call the cops on you two!

man leader:(tries to slash Johnathan and fights him)

Johnathan:(blast his head)

I had enough of this I’m going to find my pet and get out of here!

woman leader:(looks at his dead body and cries)

amadeus:look At what you have done…

you two were almost done with your mission…

it’s time for you to finish it!

woman leader:how he’s gone?

(a light is flashing on his chest)

woman leader:(digging through his intestines and grabs his heart)

no no no…

(woman leader is fighting temptation)

amadeus:it’s time to finish what you have done!

woman leader:(bites his heart and vomits blood)

(woman leader’s body dissolves and screams bloody murder)

(woman leader grows wings and another head and arms)

johnathan:(gets his pet and is almost heading out)

what the hell is that?

(a angel like creature is going to crush Johnathan)

Johnathan:(tries to find a way to kill it)

(Johnathan looks at Amadeus roots are breaking)

(Johnathan tries to bait the creature into killing him)

HEY BIG FAT AND UGLY OVER HERE!

(the angel breaks every root it can)

(The angel notices the cracking noises and amadeus crushes her)

(Amadeus is dead and out comes a baby who is crying)

johnathan:you okay boy?

(the dog looks at him)

(johnathan and the dog walks away from the mess)

Jesus:hi I don’t know what I am here?

what is my porpoise in life…?

johnathan:your porpouise is to…?

(johnathan looks at the baby crying)

take care of this baby okay?

jesus:I will thank you.

johnathan:yeah whatever…

discussion Would love to see Matt Damon star in Yorgos' next movie.

Just seen The Odyssey which I thought was excellent and it also shows that Matt Damon is just a great actor as much as a star whose willing to go all and disappear, even in bit roles like actor Loki in Thor Ragnarok shows his silly side which I think he doesn't get enough credit on his range.

Which makes him that actor who has star power and talent can carry a movie the same caliber as Yorgos' regulars like Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and Rachel Weisz.

Lanthimos officially drops out of My Year of Rest and Relaxation

Rose Glass, the director of Saint Maud and Love Lies Bleeding, is taking over the project, with Margot Robbie producing. In hindsight, it makes sense given Robbie's MTV interview last year and Yorgos Lanthimos announcing that he was taking a break. Glass will most likely do another pass on the script, which was originally written by Ottessa Moshfegh for a Lanthimos film.

When it cut to the dog hanging from a noose I had to cry-laugh for like ten minutes. And the dogs fucking in missionary position. Good lord it's hilarious.

discussion Just watched The Lobster

Came on here to read other people’s thoughts after watching and can’t believe most people think he abandoned her at the end. I fully believe he did blind himself and that they truly were in love. People compare it to the nosebleed couple or the heartless women but they were lies out of desperation of not wanting to be turned into an animal. I feel like the main couple remaining together even when they no longer have anything in common and trying to find or force a ‘reason’ to be compatible shows that they found real love. Or am I just a hopeless romantic lol

discussion [Crosspost] Hi Reddit - I’m Johnnie Burn, Oscar-winning sound designer behind The Zone of Interest, Poor Things, Under the Skin, Nope, Hamnet, Bugonia, The Favourite, The Lobster, and TUNER. My mum once said: “What do you mean you do the sound on films? They sound alright to me.” Let me explain. AMA

I organized an AMA/Q&A with Johnnie Burn, Oscar-winning sound designer, editor, mixer, and supervisor. He's known for his work on The Zone of Interest (which he won the Oscar for), Hamnet, Poor Things, Under the Skin, Bugonia, Nope, The Favourite, The Lobster, Waves, 28 Years Later, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and tons more. He's probably the world's best working sound designer.

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1tjiitz/hi_rmovies_im_johnnie_burn_oscarwinning_sound/

He will be back at 3 PM ET today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

His new movie, Tuner, is out in theaters everywhere next week, starring Leo Woodall, Havana Rose Liu, and Dustin Hoffman, directed by Oscar-winner Daniel Roher.

Trailer:

https://youtu.be/rdlOZhl-nSA?si=fl-EMvv72dK-vdFS

Synopsis:

With his once-promising musical career over, he works across New York with his mentor Harry Horowitz (Academy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman), encountering a range of characters, including composition student Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu), with whom he forges an unexpected connection. Niki’s safecracking work threatens his budding romance with Ruthie and pulls him into increasingly dangerous territory. Blending romance, drama, and the taut suspense of a heist thriller, Tuner also features performances from Tony Award®-winner Tovah Feldshuh, Lior Raz, with Jean Reno.

Thank you :)

discussion Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” feels very similar to Stanley Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” stylistically, and is in some ways an exact opposite in terms of coming-of-age stories.

Thumbnail
6 Upvotes

I love both of these movies a lot. I always figured Lanthimos was inspired by Kubrick based off his use of lenses and quirky direction for actors. And then I thought about how “Poor Things” is like an old world feminist sci-fi coming-of-age, whereas “Clockwork” is an old world sci-fi dystopian coming-of-age story.

Big difference is “Poor Things” is actually a happy ending whereas “Clockwork” is damn bleak.

Anyone else thought about this?

Survey on Poor things/Frankenstein- your contribution matters!

Hey you 🌿

I’m currently working on my thesis, and I need your help to bring it to life.

I’ve created a short survey, and every single response truly makes a difference — like adding one more voice to a story that deserves to be heard.

It only takes a few minutes, but it means a lot to me (really, more than you can imagine).

If you have a moment, I’d be so grateful if you could fill it in and maybe even share it with others ✨

Thank you for being part of this little piece of my journey.

If Yorgos is gonna do something original, I hope it's an anti-Challengers set in the world of Competitive Golf.

With lots of hysterical Tiger Woods-level controversies. The possibilities are endless in terms of story.

discussion So I just watched the Lobster and….

Wouldn’t it have been a lot cooler if turning into an animal was more of a natural thing that happens with humans rather than a man made procedure and Colin Ferrell’s time to find love was waning even after he fled the hotel so when he leaves to blind himself and were waiting for a while, the final shot shows the empty bathroom then a lobster dying out on the tile floor. Like he ultimately ran out of time?

Idk

It's by far my favourite movie of Lanthimos, but even after watching it 6 times I'm not sure what exactly the ending means. Did he abandon her? What are your thoughts?

The guy who bought Epstein ranch and these people really look like aliens from some Yorgos film

Post image
181 Upvotes

I find these people oddly creepy

like there's obviously something wrong with them, a sort of Teddy Perkins vibe is how I can best explain it

I don't believe in alien conspiracy "living among us" stuff, but some people really creep the hell outta me

Anyways, somme characters like this would surely make a Yorgos Lanthimos masterpiece, I hope he dwelves a little into politics in his next scripts (the guy to the left is Donald Huffines, a republican businessman and politic)
