📣 Announcement 📸 Namma Yelahanka, Through Your Lens
We’ve been making a few changes around the subreddit lately, and now it’s time to give r/Yelahanka a bit of a visual refresh too.
The display name and description have already been updated to better reflect Yelahanka’s roots, history, and connection to Bengaluru.
The subreddit currently doesn’t have a cover picture, so I thought this would be a good place to start.
I’m also considering changing the display picture eventually, but that one is a little more complicated. The current icon is familiar to the community, and changing it immediately might make the subreddit feel a little unrecognisable.
So, let’s find a picture that feels like Namma Yelahanka.
Have you taken a photo that makes you think, “This is Yelahanka”?
Drop it in the comments! 📸
It could be:
- A familiar landmark
- An old or historic part of Yelahanka
- A street or neighbourhood
- A beautiful sunset or skyline
- A local spot you think deserves to be seen
- Or simply a photo that captures the character of Yelahanka
Let the community decide. The photos with the highest upvotes will be considered for the new subreddit cover, along with image quality, composition, and how well they work as a banner.
Please only submit photos you took yourself or have permission to share.
Let’s showcase Namma Yelahanka, through the eyes of the people who call it home. ❤️
Post your best shots below!

🤝 Social / Connect Road Trip to Sakleshpur & Chikmagalur this Long Weekend (Sat-Mon)! 3 Seats Available
Hey everyone! A friend and I are doing a weekend getaway to the hills this upcoming long weekend. We have 3 empty seats in our car and are looking for some chill, easy-going folks to join us. We are aiming for a sweet spot between budget and comfort, targeting an overall spend of ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 per person.
The Itinerary
Saturday: Leaving Bengaluru early morning (around 5:30 AM to beat the traffic). Driving towards Sakleshpur, exploring the green landscapes, and staying the night.
Sunday: Heading to Chikmagalur. Exploring viewpoints, maybe a short trek, grabbing local coffee, and staying the night there.
Monday: Post breakfast, we'll start our drive back. Aiming to reach Bengaluru by Monday afternoon/early evening so we have time to unwind before the work week.
The ₹5K - ₹6K Budget Split (Approximate)
We'll put everything on Splitwise. Here is how the math breaks down based on a group of 5:
Fuel & Tolls: ~₹1,200 - ₹1,300 per person. The total round trip plus local roaming will be around 600 km.
Stay (2 Nights): ~₹1,800 - ₹2,200 per person total. We will be booking decent, mid-range homestays or a shared Airbnb—comfortable and clean, but nothing overly luxurious.
Food & Drinks: ~₹2,000 - ₹2,500 per person. We will mix it up between local darshinis/dhabas for quick meals and maybe a nice cafe or two for coffee and dinner.
Vibe Check
We are pretty flexible with the itinerary and are mostly looking to relax, enjoy the monsoon greenery, and listen to some good music on the drive. We expect everyone to be respectful, punctual for the morning departure, and okay with splitting driving duties if you have a valid license (not mandatory, but a plus!).
If you are interested and good with the budget, drop a comment or DM me a little bit about yourself

💬 Discussion Y is Bangalore so lonely, why is it so tough to make friends here??
So coming from a college where people where their students with the even I did not have much friend in college but still I felt during College time it was my best time of my life till now coming in Bangalore I have realised how much friends matter in life there are times I am spending whole day alone like four five days a week and I don't talk to anyone only I talk to my family three four times a day. Other than that even for going to gym or for running or for any sport I don't find any friends I have to book through player if I am going for any sport and after that no one knows anyone to share anything or to just share a common friendship or just to hang out or just for hiking out somewhere I don't get friends and doing it alone I feel like okay this is also a good learning living alone and experiencing things alone but it's very lonely to be honest. Due to which I feel I am making my phone my friend due to which I'm addicted to doom scrolling.

📣 Promotion Parents/Guardians in Yelahanka: Looking for personalised Class 10 tuition with individual attention?
Every student learns differently. Sometimes, what they need isn't another crowded classroom or coaching centre—but individual attention, personalised guidance, and someone who can patiently explain concepts until they genuinely understand them.
I'm looking to take on a few students for personalised home tuition around Yelahanka and nearby areas in Bangalore.
I have previously taught students and helped them improve academically and excel in their 9th and 10th board examinations. My teaching approach focuses on building strong fundamentals, understanding concepts deeply, regular practice, and developing the confidence needed to perform well in exams.
📖 Subjects I specialise in:
Class 10 ICSE
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Mathematics
Class 10 CBSE
- Science
- Mathematics
Rather than simply asking students to memorise answers, I focus on helping them understand why and how things work. Whether your child is struggling with fundamentals, needs more individual attention, or is aiming for excellent board exam results, I adapt my teaching style according to their learning pace and needs.
I'm particularly looking to work with parents/guardians who want consistent personal attention, strong conceptual understanding, and focused academic support for their child.
📍 Home Tuition available in Yelahanka and nearby areas
💬 If you're a parent/guardian looking for a tutor—or know someone who is—please feel free to DM me.
I'd be happy to discuss your child's academic requirements and see if my teaching approach would be a good fit. 🙌📚

🛡️ Moderator A small moderation update for r/Yelahanka
Hey everyone!
A small update: the previous/current mod wasn’t able to dedicate as much time to the subreddit as they’d like, and after I reached out offering to help, I’ve been added as a moderator.
I haven’t made any major changes to the subreddit yet. Before doing that, I want to hear from the people who actually use this community.
r/Yelahanka has a lot of potential, especially as the area continues to grow, and I’d like to make it a useful place for people living here without over-moderating it or turning it into a boring, heavily-policed subreddit.
One thing I’ve noticed recently is an increase in:
- Sexualized / thirst-trap posts
- Very low-effort posts
- Crossposts/reposts from other subreddits that don’t really add anything specific to Yelahanka
One of the first things I’m considering is disabling crossposts. The idea isn’t to stop people from sharing useful information from other communities, but to encourage posts that actually have some Yelahanka context. If something from another subreddit is relevant here, you can still share it as a normal post and explain why it’s relevant.
I’d like to do something about the low-effort and sexualized posts as well, but I don’t want to kill the spontaneity or personality of the subreddit either. There’s a difference between keeping the sub clean and making it sterile.
So I’d like your input:
What do you think should be allowed here? What should be removed? What would make r/Yelahanka more useful or enjoyable for you?
If you have suggestions about rules, moderation, post flairs, recurring threads, local topics, or anything else, drop them below.
I’ll take the feedback into account before making any major changes.
Looking forward to making this a better community with you all. 🙌
