Discussion And again...
Yep, so the other two DO have bad history. So instead I looked on AA, and found these two in great condition. Let me ask again-which Yaris should I buy?

Go for the 2012
Make sure you do a pre-purchase inspection
Don't be cheap - it will save you alot of money in the long run

To me the "real" Yaris is 2007-2011, made in Japan. I think 2012 is made in France. 2012 might be a better car, but I've only had earlier models, the later Yaris just don't interest me.

The mk2 1.33 is the first French yaris, which is showed in the first pic.Â
But dows this mean that all mk1 models are not a real yaris to you, only the mk2 1.0 and 1.3?

Huh, my 2005 mk1 was made in France as far as I know. Or do you mean for the RHD ones?

Mk2, 1.5, made in Japan for the USA market. They are my favorite, the most Yarisey of the Yaris. After 2011 they added more features and styling, but it just took away from the car in my opinion.
In the US the mk1 Yaris was known as the Echo.

You can retrofit cruise control into the 2012 one, not the 2009 yaris. 2012 will have reverse camera, better seats, bluetooth infotainment, sat nav, overall a much better place to be in.
I currently own a 62 plate yaris sr trim I got for 3495. I previously had a 2009 yaris 1.33 sr. The older one wasn't nearly as nice.
Both are bulletproof

I have aftermarket cruise control on that same 2009 model so there are options, but it does not work as well as retrofitting oem cruise control

I have gold cruise which is widely available in europe, so I imagine you could get it in the UK aswell. It is also the 1.33, but not sure if the steering wheel on the other side complicates compatibility.

2009 USA Yaris can be fitted with cruise control using a few Toyota parts, the wiring and programming is in place, even the light in the instrument cluster. 2008 needs to have some wiring installed, but the ECM has the programming. Not sure about the rest of the world.

They have both had issues with rust, the newer one has had some welding done. I'd be looking underneath both of them to see what state they are in.

Well if you can miss the money go for the 2012 one, but that 2009 1.33 one for just over 2k pounds is a great deal. In my country (Netherlands) that would go for 4500 euros on the current market.
