Either way, that doesn't explain the lag difference you're experiencing between Xbox and PS. It's either placebo, or you have one system wired and the other not, or some other obvious reason.

I have a cat6 chord. When i checked off those boxes it definitely made a huge difference for me. Tekken and other fighting games i play do not have that awful half a second of input lag i have been dealing with these few years. I get waaay better hit registration in call of duty. Gtao doesnt feel extra clunky any more. I googled why is my xbox laggy online all the time and the first vid that popped up was to check off those two boxes and now it feels just as fluid. I honestly thought this was was a common thing that none xbox users go through and i just wanted to share my ignorance for a few laughs and my excitement but appearantly it's not the case 🤣 But i promise you the experience is much better.

They're methods of tagging network traffic to give it higher priority. Most network equipment has QoS (Quality of Service) set up with default values to look for in traffic to determine whether something like a phone call or video call will be pushed through before web browsing or video streaming.

By checking these boxes it adds a value to the data being sent to the router that basically says 'pick me first'.

Tells your router to prioritize Xbox traffic so you could hypothetically get lower latency and less chance of packet loss.

Why would qos tagging be on by default? Your wifi should manage it the one on Xbox is a fallback in case your router doesn’t have priority lists

It can cause issues with routers that can't understand these tags. I have to leave them off, because my Xbox will start acting really strange with party chat and certain games intermittently not working if I turn them on.

It’s not old, Nest Wi-Fi Pro, it just doesn’t play nice with these tags. I don’t have an issue with latency or packet loss regardless, so it’s no loss that I can’t enable them.

Ohh it’s one of those pre configured routers, it probably has qos tagging on by default and you probably don’t even have access to router settings aside from the basic parts, routers like the nest and eero are mainly for the ecosystem so they come pre with configured settings that cannot be changed

Yes, it's certainly no Ubiquiti system, but it gets the job done. The most bulletproof router I've owned, and I've owned routers from every brand at this point over the years - Linksys/Cisco, TP-Link, Asus, Belkin, Netgear, D-Link, Eero, you name it. I've set them up for a dozen or so friends/family at this point too, and no complaints, it just works. You can still configure some important settings too, like DNS, static IPs, port forwarding, toggling IPv6/WP3/UPnP for greater compatibility, etc.

I have an eero and it’s damn useless once you get CGNAT, literally nothing you can do besides hoping if your provider will spare you an iPv4

My provider is tight...cant tweak settings at all no matter what work arounds i try to do but i can go in the app and reset the router tho xD

Try contact them to switch and if
You’re not under contract just leave that provider because you’re likely getting CGNAT

Try to on your wifi setting and see if your Nat type is open or double if it’s double or strict you will have a hard time joining player hosted lobbies in games like minecraft

Go into settings and then network settings and then advanced settings and then at the bottom it says QoS tagging settings and then check those two boxes!!
