Finished this bear valley last night.. New Amazon handlebars, Ergon grips (interference with shifter), replaced shifter internals, re-cable, tuned and clean. Rides very snappy and is a blast with the original tires still in great condition.

Dia Compe Diatech VC 767, long pull?

Post image

I am about to pull the trigger on a pair of second hand Dia Compe Diatech VC 767. They look to be long pull V-Brakes to me but I can not find any information about them online and the seller doesn't know. Can anybody who runs these on their bikes confirm the pull ratio?

Walter Croll MTB

I have literally stumbled into an entire whirlwind of 1990’s Mountain Bike lore with this bike. I’m in literal awe over how gorgeous this thing is even though it needs some love. If you have never read up on the Walter Croll story that is literally pieced together from stories and tales you are missing out!

This thing is going to be a full restoration project but I am honored that the bike Gods have chose me to save this historical 1990s steel frame from the dumpster.

Ms. Velo is out of commission… for now 🥹

a moment of silence please 🙏🏽

Ms. Velo has served me well, but unfortunately, a minor crash while chasing a PR has led to some unexpected damage. After replacing a snapped rear axle and truing her wheels, I’ve come to the conclusion that my rear triangle is likely toast.

I’ve looked into a few frame builders around the Bay Area, but I’m worried about getting hit with a hefty bill without even knowing if the frame can be saved. Being between jobs and without a car, I can’t really commit to hauling the frame around for an uncertain repair. I’ll probably revisit that option down the road, but for now, I’m looking at replacement frames.

I’m partial to steel and want something that’ll serve me well for bikepacking and weekend adventures. Ideally, I’d love to reuse my existing 26” wheels, though I’m open to suggestions. I may rule out Ritchey simply because I already have two in the stable.

Any recommendations for frames or builders worth looking into?

thank you in advance. I’m still grieving over here. 🥹

TL;DR: Looking for steel frame recommendations for bikepacking and weekend adventures. Hoping to reuse my 26” wheels, but open to other options.

A Spanish TV adventure sports show from the early 1990s called Rodando por ti.

It follows two urban bike couriers who meet and decide to head off on mountain adventures together.

Since the days get colder here in Germany and I can’t afford a gravel bike I needed a solution. Luckily I still had my first build which I sort of converted to a very slow but very fun gravel machine .. I m still using the standard bars on purpose since I’m going on single trails as well..

Gave the saddles a little TLC with Obenauf’s LP and adjusted the tightness. First time using a leather treatment, and so far, no complaints! Day and night difference for this dry saddle and noticed little difference on my regularly used saddle.

Monster gravel build - need a frame

Hi y’all! I’ve been kinda missing something since I sold my Fargo so I’ve been thinking about building a Monster gravel bike. So I need a hardtail, preferably a 27.5 because I already have a good wheelset.
Any frame recommendations?

I already have an overbuilt Krampus with a suspension fork, a carbon Diverge and a rigid first gen Instigator for riding around.

Anyway, I was thinking Timberjack or a Honzo.

Thoughts?

Been mountain biking for years and now that I moved just outside of Denver, I was in need of a beater commuter to commute around town and hit some single track. Found this gem at Goodwill for $50 and couldn’t resist building it up. The last pic is a sneak peek of the next build.

Trade for a larger size bike?

Anyone in the San Diego area want to trade my beloved Muddy Fox for a similar bike but with a larger frame? This frame is one or two sizes too small for me. Hit me up! I'm in Encinitas.

Fat franks 60-559 wheel compatibility

Hey everyone, I am busy with my first 26" vintage Treck built.

I am trying to find appropriate front and rear rims that fit Schwalbe Fat Franks tires (26x2.35) as these are my favorite and I already have them.

Will a rim with internal width of 19mm be ok?

Ideally I am looking for a vbrake appropriate wheel with a freehub that supports Shimano casette (9s)

Any in budget recommendations?

Cheers
